Details:
There has been a great deal of confusion regarding which waterfall on Harvard Brook is the real Georgiana Falls. The USGS maps show Georgiana Falls on the map at the 1600' contour. It has also been referred to as Upper Georgiana Falls to distinguish it from the 30' waterfall a ways downstream. The AMC Mountain Guide has in the past shown Georgiana Falls to be the lower falls and Harvard Fall to be the upper falls, although it has contradicted itself in other editions. The 1885 volume of Appalachia labels the upper drop as Georgiana Falls. The Bolnick's excellent, Waterfalls of the White Mountains concurs, the subject having been exhaustively researched by the authors. In order to keep things straight, let me simplify: the 30' lower falls is Lower Georgiana Falls. The 80' upper cascade is Georgiana Falls (the USGS concurs) aka Upper Georgiana Falls or Harvard Fall. In addition, 2/10 of a mile upstream is a small cascade that is referred to as Harvard Cascade, and another half mile leads to the long forgotten Upper Falls.
