Heliopolis - Highlight of Ancient Egypt and Modern Cairo
Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt - The place that in Greek is translated to sun city and which is considered the major city of ancient Egypt and the sun that lights the new modern Cairo, Egypt, these days.
In Cairo, Egypt, there are now different residence areas found out there, but those which are considered the oldest are downtown, Cairo, as well as Heliopolis area, and this could be witnessed from the old buildings that combine atheism, European, and Islamic designs all in the same place.
Historically, Heliopolis was the major city of ancient Egypt, it was the capital of the 13th or Heliopolite Nome of lower Egypt and a major religious center. There were different temples and other buildings in this area that were mostly destroyed in order to build medieval Cairo, yet there are some buildings that are living until this day, such as Baron Palace, the Obelisk of the Temple of Ra-Atum which is now called Al-Masalla and found in Al-Matariyyah in Cairo, as well as those buildings which one will come across in Korba area and Roxy.
Although there are now different areas that are considered part of Heliopolis, the ones which are mainly thought about when the name is mentioned now are the area around Al-Baron Palace, the area which is now known as Korba, as well as Roxy area; there might be other things to come into consideration but those are considered the ones mostly known to be part of Heliopolis.
There are important places to visit in Cairo, Egypt, when in comes to Heliopolis (which is also now referred to as New Egypt مصر الجديدة) and from these we would suggest Korba, where there are different buildings for you to get impressed by and there are several cafes and restaurants to sit at; this area is considered now an elite area in Heliopolis.
Just minutes away from Korba, there are two different directions to head to, either you will go to check the Roxy residence area, which is now nothing but a lot of shops and a crowded area, or else you will head to the other direction and check the Baron Palace, which is considered a much better plan.
The Baron Empain Palace was the residence of Baron Empain who was a famous Egyptologist and prominent Belgian Entrepreneur. This palace was inspired by the Hindu temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia; it was designed by the French architect, Alexandre Marcel and was decorated by Georges Louis Claude.
The Baron palace is one of the most important landmarks of Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt, because it is not only perfectly designed, but because it is the place where the person, Baron Empain, who established Heliopolis was living. Establishing Heliopolis was done with the help of Boghos Nubar.
Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt is the location of Cairo International Airport and it is considered the center of the New Egypt area. Heliopolis is also considered the place where the wealthy Egyptians tend to live, especially when it comes to the area surrounding the Baron Palace.
Around the are of the Baron palace, you might find some outstanding buildings as well, these go back to important characters in the old times but which mostly now belong to the Egyptian Military or else are used as a presidential guest house.
This area is too close to the airport, only 10 minutes away by car, the problem comes when there are traffic jams in Salah Salem street, which is considered the most famous. The only problem one might find if decided to stay in Heliopolis during his/her trip to Egypt is the fact that it is not so close to the other landmarks and historical areas which one would be willing to visit in the same way it would be if one stayed in the downtown area (
There are lots of things to see in Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt, when it comes to the religious part, there are different mosques, cathedrals, and there is even Al-Missalah street synagogue, making this place a mixture of religions that could satisfy everyone's needs.
It is interesting to see things that hold mythical stories behind such as the case with Al Baron palace which is closed to the public. This place is referred to as the house of ghosts or the house of horror due to the different sounds of furniture moving at night or else the lights that flash inside the tower that happen at night and which were even seen by those residents who are living around the palace.
There are different things to do in Cairo, Egypt, in general, such as heading to the Egyptian Museum ( enjoying the Nile River ( heading to the Pyramids ( or even checking the hidden treasures of this country which might be related to gardens, restaurants, and night life, or else heading to old Cairo area and enjoying the hidden gems that one could find there (

SUMMARY
=======
The history of science is the study of the development of science and scientific knowledge, including both the natural and social sciences (the history of the arts and humanities is termed history of scholarship). Science is a body of empirical, theoretical, and practical knowledge about the natural world, produced by scientists who emphasize the observation, explanation, and prediction of real-world phenomena. Historiography of science, in contrast, studies the methods employed by historians of science.
The English word scientist is relatively recent—first coined by William Whewell in the 19th century. Previously, investigators of nature called themselves natural philosophers. While empirical investigations of the natural world have been described since classical antiquity (for example, by Thales and Aristotle), and the scientific method has been employed since the Middle Ages (for example, by Ibn al-Haytham and Roger Bacon), modern science began to develop in the early modern period, and in particular in the scientific revolution of 16th- and 17th-century Europe. Traditionally, historians of science have defined science sufficiently broadly to include those earlier inquiries.From the 18th through the late 20th century, the history of science, especially of the physical and biological sciences, was often presented as a progressive accumulation of knowledge, in which true theories replaced false beliefs. More recent historical interpretations, such as those of Thomas Kuhn, tend to portray the history of science in terms of competing paradigms or conceptual systems within a wider matrix of intellectual, cultural, economic and political trends. These interpretations, however, have met with opposition for they also portray the history of science as an incoherent system of incommensurable paradigms, not leading to any actual scientific progress but only to the illusion that it has occurred.

SUMMARY
=======
The Suez Crisis, or the Second Arab–Israeli War, also named the Tripartite Aggression in the Arab world and Operation Kadesh or Sinai War in Israel, was an invasion of Egypt in late 1956 by Israel, followed by the United Kingdom and France. The aims were to regain Western control of the Suez Canal and to remove Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, who had just nationalized the canal. After the fighting had started, political pressure from the United States, the Soviet Union and the United Nations led to a withdrawal by the three invaders. The episode humiliated the United Kingdom and France and strengthened Nasser.On 29 October, Israel invaded the Egyptian Sinai. Britain and France issued a joint ultimatum to cease fire, which was ignored. On 5 November, Britain and France landed paratroopers along the Suez Canal. The Egyptian forces were defeated, but they did block the canal to all shipping. It later became clear that the Israeli invasion and the subsequent Anglo-French attack had been planned beforehand by the three countries.
The three allies had attained a number of their military objectives, but the canal was useless. Heavy political pressure from the United States and the USSR led to a withdrawal. U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower had strongly ...

Secrets of the Pyramids and the Sphinx 1/2
Whoever built these structures, possessed advanced mathematics, engineering and building techniques. Even with our modern equipment, we could not duplicate these enigmatic monuments.
With its base angles at 51 degrees 51 minutes. If you bisect this triangle and assign a value of 1 to each base, then the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) equals phi (1.618..) and the perpendicular side equals the square root of phi. A circle is drawn with it's center and diameter the same as the base of the large triangle. This represents the circumference of the earth. A square is then drawn to touch the outside of the earth circle. A second circle is then drawn around the first one, with its circumference equal to the perimeter of the square. (The squaring of the circle.) This new circle will actually pass exactly through the apex of the pyramid.
A circle drawn with its center at the apex of the pyramid and its radius just long enough to touch the earth circle, will have the circumference of the moon.
The Pain of the Copts
The Coptic Church near the ninth station on the Via Dolorosa, in the old city, was very calm, and among the gathered faithful were the apostolic nuncio, Archbishop Antonio Franco, and the Latin Patriarch, Emeritus, Michel Sabbah. Various messages of solidarity came also from other representatives of diverse Christian confessions.The 21 Christians killed in the Egyptian city of Alexandria in the first hours of the New Year were thus remembered Tuesday afternoon in Jerusalem. Their friends came together to offer prayer and support. Pope Benedict XVI described the bomb attack as a vile gesture, and Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak spoke of terrorism which knows neither country nor religion.Coming just a few weeks after the massacre of Christians in Iraq, the outrage of Alexandria has preoccupied the Christians of the Near and Middle East, and seems to be part — according to the Pope — of a coordinated anti-Christian movement. Do these events weaken or reinforce the faith of Christians in the Near and Middle East? For Anba Abraham, Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of Jerusalem, the answer is clear... Mons. Anba Abraham: These events strengthen the faith of Christians more than weaken it. Perhaps some Christians emigrate, but in the end they return with their faith strengthened, and with reinforced love for their country. Many of these events have happened in over centuries, but the Christians are still here. They will happen again and again, but we will remain because we have a promise from Christ. Even though Jesus said that we will have to suffer, he also said that he would conquer the world, and promised that he would always be with us. He will never leave us. We are his little flock. How could he leave us?Our blood shows that we love Christ, the archbishop said, just as his blood showed that he loves us. He said martyrdom is testimony and this gesture has proclaimed to the whole world that our faith in Jesus Christ was strengthened. And, to the question whether the attacks have brought Christians of the Near and Middle East closer, Fr. Antonious El-Ourshalimi, secretary general of the Coptic Patriarchate had this to say.Fr. Antonious El-Ourshalimi: It unites them in the sense that there is no difference between Catholics and Orthodox, because our Jesus is the same Jesus. Our differences disappear just in these tragic events because we are going in the same direction.Drying the tears, Fr. Antonius thus sums up the reaction of local Christians.Fr. Antonious El-Ourshalimi: I want to say to the people of Egypt: do not be afraid. They will not be able to destroy our spirit.
