Day Trip to Arizona's Petrified Forest National Park & Painted Desert | O. Christine Travel Blog
I took a day trip to the Petrified Forest National Park and Painted Desert in Arizona to explore the fossils and remnants of the region from the triassic period (200 million years ago), as well as Puebloan history. It is one of my favorite National Parks in the United States.

Written by:Jim KJELGAARD (1910 - 1959)
Geronimo (1829 – 1909) was a prominent leader of the Bedonkohe Apache who fought against Mexico and the United States for their expansion into Apache tribal lands for several decades during the Apache Wars. Geronimo was the name given to him during a battle with Mexican soldiers.
After an attack by a company of Mexican soldiers killed his mother, wife and three children in 1858, Geronimo joined revenge attacks on the Mexicans. During his career as a war chief, he was notorious for consistently urging raids upon Mexican Provinces and their towns, and later against American locations across Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas. Not so early start, thanks to Floyd's thirst Parlor in Springfield, well worth a visit. Great drive to Cuba via St. Louis. Bit of a shock after driving straight for a couple of hours suddenly ending up in St. Louis traffic..
