The area is dangerous due to decay of the concrete that once held them together!

6 hours, 3 flights, Toronto to St John's Newfoundland - Two Minute Travel
We caught one plane, three stops, six hours, and traveled from Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport, a small airport on an island next to Toronto's downtown, to St John's Newfoundland, via Ottawa and Halifax. From there we stayed the night at the Best Western St John's Airport for $146 CAD, which I thought was reasonable including breakfast.

Around the year 1000 Leif Eriksson and his Vikings arrived. They were probably the first Europeans who settled in North America. In 1978 the reconstructed settlement in L'Anse-aux-Meadows at the northern tip of Newfoundland was declared as World Heritage site by UNESCO.
