Places to see in ( Orleans - France )
Places to see in ( Orleans - France )
Orléans is a city on the banks of the Loire River in north-central France, and it’s the capital of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Joan of Arc famously saved the city from English siege in 1429, an event celebrated with an annual festival. A re-creation of the house where she stayed during the battle, the Maison de Jeanne d’Arc, features multimedia exhibits on her life.
Orleans, the capital of the department of the Loiret and the Centre region of France (no not Tours) is a city that has struggled to return to former glories after being devastated during World War II. History has not been kind to Orleans what with the Romans, Attila the Hun and the English all doing their best to wipe it out even before then. A few historic buildings have survived and they, along with the obvious Joan of Arc connection keep it on the Loire Valley tourist map.
Welcoming more visitors than any other attraction in the department, the Parc Floral de la Source is a semi-wild park next to the university, where Orléans meets the countryside. If you visit the tourist office they'll provide you with an itinerary to enable you to visit the main sites of interest in the city and appreciate the Romanesque churches, the many examples of renaissance architecture, the half timbered houses and the various museums throughout the city.
The three main places of interest have to be the impressive cathedral 'Ste-Croix', Hotel Groslot (former Hotel de Ville) and the re-creation of Joan of Arc's house on Place General-de-Gaulle. The kids might enjoy this more than adults so be sure to give a little insight into her history as an introduction.
Don't miss taking the kids, especially the younger ones, to Parc Floral de la Source a 32 hectare site which has everything from a butterfly kingdom ,kid's play area, puppet shows and glorious garden displays. It can be found south of the river in the direction of St-Cyr-en-Val. There is an entrance fee for adults - kids under 6 free. From the end of April to the first week in May, the anniversary of the liberation of Orleans by Joan of Arc is celebrated by a series of events including :medieval festival and market, concerts, exhibitions, sound and light displays plus various processions commencing with 'Joan' entering the city through the 'Port de Bourgogne'.
The high points of these festivities are during the first couple of days with the ceremony of the standard handed from the mayor to the bishop, the commemorative parades, concerts in the town and a firework display on the facade of the cathedral. Alot to see in Orleans such as :
Parc Floral de la Source
Orléans Cathedral
Musée des Beaux-Arts
Place du Martroi
Hôtel Groslot
Rue de Bourgogne
Hôtel Cabu
Île Charlemagne
Collégiale Saint-Aignan
Loire à Vélo

The Loire River (the longest in France) is the thread that binds this area together but its tributaries of the Cher, the Vienne, the Indre and other rivers in the region such as theCreuse and the Claise give an added dimension to the region by providing attractive valleys and landscapes to stimulate interest. You are in an area where you can be on a plateau with what seems like endless horizons, surrounded by sunflowers, in a deep valley, in dense forest, by a mighty river and always where your eye will be drawn to something of interest. You can be happy just driving the wonderful roads (where a lot of French taxpayers money must go!) stopping at any one of hundreds of pretty towns and villages that the region has to offer.
By sharing our knowledge of the Loire Valley we will help you get the most out of your visit to what is popularly referred to as 'the garden of France'. We do of course include alist of the major chateau of the region, how could we not, including the gems that areChenonceau, Chambord, Azay-le-Rideau, Blois and Villandry, plus the cities towns and villages of greatest interest - the region has 8 of the 'Les Beaux Villages de France' - the most beautiful villages in France within its boundaries.
Two Sides To Every Tale - Orleans/France | (G) Fate/Grand Order
Finishing the Prologue in English gave us a whole new way to view the game at last, with the story available to all of us in a native language we learned this game isn't the cheery and butterfly feelings we thought it to be.
Now we enter once again Orleans or France whichever you prefer to see the introduction of two of the most famous characters this game has to offer.
Will the story of Jeanne d'Arc and her alter live up to the expectations I have for them? It's time to find out.

New Orleans: Is violence endemic?
There's a more somber side to the night here. The city leads the statistics nationwide in terms of urban and gang violence. The murder rate here is shocking. During our week of filming, there was a murder every day. There was an appeal by the police for witnesses as well for this murder in plain daylight. There are shrines to the dead throughout New Orleans, this one for a teenager. Since Katrina the situation hasn't changed, and won't, it seems. New Orleans and gang violence go hand in hand.

Weekend Trip to Orleans, France
Orleans is a medium-sized city south of Paris. We went down for a couple days and toured. The city has very nice architecture and a younger population.
I forgot to take many videos while actually walking around Orleans, but the drive there and back was still quite scenic :)

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking New Orleans (Narrated) : Bourbon Street, French Quarter
Google Maps Route:
A narrated walk through Bourbon Street in the French Quarter District of New Orleans from St. Ann Street to Canal Street. There was a recent rain which made most of the colors really pop out! This street is full of wild parties, music, and tourists every night. However, it is especially wild on weekend nights and during Mardis Gras.
From Wikipedia:
Bourbon Street (French: Rue Bourbon) is a historic street in the heart of the French Quarter of New Orleans. Extending thirteen blocks from Canal Street to Esplanade Avenue, Bourbon Street is famous for its many bars and strip clubs.
With 17.74 million visitors in 2017 alone, New Orleans depends on Bourbon Street as a main tourist attraction. Tourist numbers have been growing yearly after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and the city has successfully rebuilt its tourist base. For millions of visitors each year, Bourbon Street provides a rich insight into New Orleans' past.

Spending 48 Hours in New Orleans (everything to see & do)
We are exploring New Orleans and we are going to show you everything you can see and do in this incredibly unique city.
Thanks to New Orleans and Company for partnering with us on this series - check out more you can do in this incredible city here:
First up we headed to the Garden District where this affluent suburb of beautiful houses also has a very interest stop - the Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 which is a cemetery above ground to keep the bodies from floating away.
After stopping at a few movie shooting locations - Benjamin Button and Django Unchained we headed into our favourite coffee spot - Mojo coffee.
Next up we went on a Gator safari to see some alligators up and close. Company we used: Cajun Encounters Tour Company
The next day we headed into the French Quarter, found some street performers and had ANOTHER biegnet - this time from Cafe Biegnet.
To learn a bit more about New Orleans history we did a double plantation tour - the Oak Alley Plantation and the Whitney Plantation.
