Shri Ghati Subrahmanya is one of the must visit tourist place and Lord Subrahmanya’s temple near Bangalore located near Dodadaballapur of Bangalore Rural District. Ghati Subrahmanya is around 60kms from Bangalore. The temple is belongs to Lord Subrahmanya and Lord Lakshmi Narasimha and in history of the temple says that the idol of Shri Subrahmanya is self originated. The unique of this temple is Sri Subrahmanya is facing east and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha is facing west, in a single view image, once can have Darshan of Lord Narasimha through a mirror placed rear side. It is a Sri Subrahmanya’s temple and very much similar with the Kukke Subrahmanya temple near Mangalore. In this temple, you find him in the “Naga” avathar and all the ‘Sarpa (snake) dosha’ related poojas are medical marijuana card performed here. This temple is attracting thousand together visitors, devotees and many people for its uniqueness. Brahmarathotsava also will take place on the day of Pushya shudda shasti narasimha jayanti. This is main festival celebration of the temple. Marriage functions are also held in this temple. Free Lunch also be provided for devotees who visit the temple. Local transportation is available from Doddaballapur to Ghati Subrahmanya

Ghati Subramanya Temple in Bangalore
Ghati Subramanya Temple is ancient in its origin and dates back to the Dravidian period and is also constructed in Dravidian tradition. Apart from the Subramanya temple, other temples of the era are also built in similar styles such as the temples around Mysore, Bangalore as well as the Nanjudeshwara temple in Nanjangud and the famous Chamundeswari temple on the top of the Chamundi Hills. The supervising deities of the temple are Lord Subramanya and Lord Lakshmi Narasimha and this is the primary reason that every day innumerable devotees visit the Ghati Subramanya Temple. As per the legend and also the mythology associated with this temple, the idols of Lord Subramanya and Lord Lakshmi Narasimha have originated from the earth itself and are not sculpted by human beings.
The temple is also believed to be a significant and holy place in South India for the worship of Snake. Although the only place of attraction and interest in Ghati is the temple apparently but it is also true that there is abundance of attention grabbing sources around 20-30km of the temple and these places of attraction can keep the visitors occupied throughout.The Ghati Subramanya has a recorded history of more than 600 years and it was first established by the Ghorpade rulers of Sandur who then were believed to have ruled parts of Bellary. Ghati Subramanya is also considered to be one of the best pilgrim centres of Bangalore.

Ghati Subramanya cattle fair in Karnataka
Farmers from different villages of Karnataka come here with their cattle for display and sale at Ghati Subramanya. The major attraction of this fair is Hallikar bulls. What is the horse shown?
The Hallikar cattle are very hardy and active animals. The bulls are known for their strength and edurance and are primarily used for draft purposes. Along with normal draft purposes, the breed is also used for cart racing. A team of Hallikar oxen can pull a loaded cart over rough roads once trained at a rate of 40 miles per day. These animals are maintained in semi-intensive management system by professional breeders. They can perform well if feed with green fodder chiefly comprises finger-millet, grass, sorghum or pearl-millet. The cows are average milk producers, and on average can produce about 542 kg of milk per lactation. Milk of the Hallikar cows is of very good quality. Their milk on average contain about 5.7 percent of fat content.
Cattle fair at Ghati Subramanya happens every year in 3rd or 4th week of December, corresponding to Subramanya Shasti. Farmers from across the state and neighboring states will bring their cattle to this famous cattle fair. Indian bulls, especially Hallikar bulls are the main attraction of this cattle fair.
Yearly Cattle fair at Ghati Subramanya, Doddaballapur taluk, Bangalore rural district. In December comes the annual car festival coinciding with the famous cattle fair. Held for about two weeks, Ghati Subrahmanya Jathra is known to attract visitors in thousands from all over. More than three thousand cattle heads have been brought for this Ghati cattle fair concluding with a grand car festival (Brahmarathosava).Located near Doddabllapura, Ghati Subrahmanya is three kilometres from Makalidurga station on Bangalore-Guntakal line. Situated 1350 meters above sea level. Makalidurga, also called Gunjur Hill is an ideal hill spot for trekking and also for a picnic.
