Visiting Dracula's Castle (Bran Castle) in Transylvania, Romania
With howling winds we ascended the many steps leading up to the infamous Bran Castle. The castle associated with Bram Stoker's Dracula Castle is a national landmark and monument in Transylvania, Romania (Romanian: Castelul Bran; Hungarian: Törcsvár; German: Törzburg). We found the experience fascinating as most areas of the castle were open for tourists to explore including some dimly lit staircases. After checking out the castle we headed back down to briefly check out a market selling all kinds of trinkets and restaurant featuring hearty Romanian cuisine. Overall, if you're based in Brasov this makes for a fantastic 'spooky' day trip ;)

Visiting Dracula's Castle (Bran Castle) in Transylvania, Romania Travel Video Transcript:
So at last the destination we've been waiting for. We have arrived in Bran to visit Bran Castle which may or may not be associated with the Dracula. Hahaha. Let's go!
Oh ho ho, it's going to blow me over.
This is officially one of the windiest places I have ever experienced. The castle sits on a really rocky cliff so you get wind coming in every direction possible. And it is pretty crazy. We're just hiding out in this little nook for now.
Bran Castle sits on the border between Wallachia and Transylvania and it is the setting of Bram Stoker's horror novel Dracula. That being said, there are other castles in Romania linked to the legend of Dracula.
We're now entering the secret staircase.
Now we're checking out the torture chamber rooms and it is pretty gruesome the methods that were used back in the day. It makes feel quite lucky to be alive this present moment.
Overall impressions of Bran Castle? It was phenomenal. What really surprised me is that from a distance it doesn't look that big but when you get inside there is a lot to explore. Like we probably spent well over an hour just checking all of the different rooms, climbing up and down the stairs and just getting an overall impression of the caste.
Alright, so now that we have visited the castle it is time to go for lunch and I am hungry.
So it is very cold day here in Bran and it is also lunchtime so we've popped into a little restaurant and we're trying to warm up with the hottest, heartiest foods we can find. I'm having some soup with some polenta and a cup of tea. Sam's gone with a salad and the beef. Meh, a little healthy a little bland but here we are enjoying our Romanian lunch.
So the food I'm most excited about trying is something called Romanian Mici and if you look down here it's kind of like a pork sausage or a pork roll. And, oh wow, check this out. Oh, that looks good. It almost looks like a spicy sausage.
Mmmmm. That is an amazing sausage. So juicy, so tasty, so flavorful. I love it. Oh, now I'm going to try some next.
So the polenta with cheese has arrived and it looks a little bit different from what I had yesterday. Yesterday my polenta came with cottage cheese and sour cream but this one appears to have cheese melted on top so I think maybe they put it in the oven. It looks like it was kind of baked. Yeah, baked polenta. Look at the gooey cheese. Oh la la. Wow. That's going to be hot. Mmmm.
I think it actually has goat cheese in the middle. Like a salty goat cheese and then mozzarella on top. Pretty good.
After lunch, we did a little wandering around the town and we found that it reminded us of Halloween with all its spooky trinkets and souvenirs.
There is a cool little market nearby the Bran Castle selling all kinds of trinkets including warm hats, Halloween costumes and other kinds of souvenirs.
Hello, pup. Hello. Meet Dracula's dog. Or are you a wolf? You're a wild wolf. Yes, you are. Yes, you are.
It's biting my ass now. It's not a game anymore puppy. No, hey. Hahahahaha.

HALLOWEEN SPECIAL | Overnight at DRACULA'S CASTLE | Poenari Castle, Transylvania (2018)
I explored and camped at Poenari Castle, the REAL Dracula Castle. Many people believe Bran Castle is Dracula's Castle, but there is no evidence to suggest that he ever lived there. Vlad the Impaler did restore and live in Poenari Castle, making it the REAL Dracula Castle, along with a few ghost stories. Read more:
To celebrate Halloween, I spent the night camping at Dracula's Castle. There will be ghost stories, paranormal investigations, Halloween candy tasting, and Jarrad might just get attacked by a stray animal (LOL!). Stay Spooky!

Walk inside Dracula's Castle - Bran Transylvania Romania
Dracula's Castle Walk - through 2017 in Bran Transylvania Romania.
Dracula is an 1897 Gothic horror novel by Irish author Bram Stoker. It introduced Count Dracula, and established many conventions of subsequent vampire fantasy.[1] The novel tells the story of Dracula's attempt to move from Transylvania to England so that he may find new blood and spread the undead curse, and of the battle between Dracula and a small group of men and women led by Professor Abraham Van Helsing.

Dracula Tour in Transylvania [IGEO TV]
There are a lot of stories about what the region of Transylvania (Romania)awaits but certainly, one of the most famous is the relationship of this land with the character of Dracula and vampire stories. Romania has been able to offer authentic tourist destinations for those looking to feel trapped by the mystery surrounding the figure not only the famous character of Bram Stoker's work, but also by the actual figure that inspired the legend: Vlad Tepes, known as The Impaler. Some of the sites that can be visited on this route are:
- Bran Castle: one of the icons related with the character of Vlad Tepes. It was built in 1382 as a border crossing to the Turkish threat, and it could have hosted Vlad in some occasions.
- Poienari Castle: located in Wallachia and built in 1459, this castle was home and shelter of Vlad Tepes, who ordered its building to protect the movement from Transylvania to the Arges Valley.
- Arefu: it is a small village near to Poienari Castle. It is said that Arefu is inhabited by Vlad Tepes servant's progeny.
- Brasov: ancient Saxon town. It was one of the cities that suffered the ravages of the brutality of Vlad Tepes for supporting the prince Dan who rivaled it. It should be pointed out that this city was held the last witch burning in Europe.
- Sighisoara: This town is situated between Wallachia and Transylvania and has one of the oldest inhabited medieval citadels in Europe. Vlad Tepes was born here and his house can be visited.
- Borgo Valley: in northern Transylvania stands this spot that stands out not only for its natural beauty, but also because it hosts the route of the character Jonathan Harker from Bram Stoker`s book.
- Castel Dracula Hotel: it is a hotel with 53 rooms, decorated and themed according to the stories of Dracula and vampires. Its location is what makes him unique as is in the exact spot where Bram Stoker placed the castle of Count Dracula in the top of the pass route Tihuta.

#Transylvania has long occupied the darker recesses of human imagination. Its fog-draped mountains and medieval castles inspired gothic novelist Bram Stoker, which resulted in the creation of his greatest villain, Count Dracula. His famous literary work caused an influx of tourism into this time-forgotten part of the world.
However, travelers who #explore Transylvania’s stirring landscapes #discover more than just shadowy folklore. After enduring a long and bloody tug of war, Transylvania is now made up of a tapestry of cultures. Admire the shimmering Hungarian murals adorning the walls of the Targu Mures Cultural Palace. Roam among the crumbling ruins of Rasnov Fortress, where the Teutonic Knights defended against Turkish and Tartar invasion. And of course, wander the dark passageways and windswept ramparts of Bran Castle, Stoker’s inspiration for Dracula’s clifftop lair.
Whatever your pace, a #vacation to Transylvania will be sure to leave you completely captivated with this part of Eastern Europe.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

On a hillside, somewhere in Transylvania,we find the ruins of an ancient medieval castle, mentioned in the documents of the year 1290 under the name CASTRUM NOVUM, indicating the existence of an older fortification on the same site. Mihai Viteazu donated the castle to his counselor, Ban Mihalcea. Since the 14th century, this castle has become the property of noblemen. The new medieval castle was built at the end of the 8th century, from the royal order, for the protection of salines. During the Revolution of 1848, the edifice was burned and almost completely destroyed. In its place, between 1850-1859, with the help of the architect Antal Kagerba, an imposing Neogothic castle was built for the noble family of Banffy, an edifice that later entered the property of the Counts Teleki. A park with alleys and trees was set up around the castle, including acclimated species, some of them rare. After the nationalization, the field was divided, the garden was destroyed and over time the castle served several purposes, the last being the Christmas decoration factory. Now the building is in the process of retrocession and will be returned to the Teleki family.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of RomaniaTransylvania, Romania?
Yeah, duh—Vampires in Transylvania, right? How could we not check out the sites where Dracula are well known for in Romania.
Plus, that's where Dracula was born—Vlad Dracu to be specific. Although, Vlad Dracu has been dead, but his name is immortal and so are the vampires. It's not them that are immortal, but their stories and themes are immortal for centuries and more to come. People are still creating them, that's the point.

Dracula's castle Bran. Romania
Dracula's castle Bran. Romania (2012).
Bran Castle (Romanian: Castelul Bran; German: Törzburg; Hungarian: Törcsvár), situated near Bran (Transylvania) and in the immediate vicinity of Braşov, is a national monument and landmark in Romania. The fortress is situated on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia, on DN73. Commonly known as Dracula's Castle (although it is one among several locations linked to the Dracula legend, including Poenari Castle and Hunyad Castle), it is the home of the titular character in Bram Stoker's Dracula. There is, however, no evidence that Stoker knew anything about this castle, which has only tangential associations with Vlad III, voivode of Wallachia, the putative inspiration for Dracula. As discovered by the Dutch author Hans Corneel de Roos, the location Bram Stoker actually had in mind for Castle Dracula while writing his novel was an empty mountain top, Mount Izvorul Călimanului, 2,033 metres (6,670 ft) high, located in the Transylvanian Călimani Alps near the former border with Moldavia.
The castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie. Tourists can see the interior individually or by a guided tour. At the bottom of the hill is a small open-air museum park exhibiting traditional Romanian peasant structures (cottages, barns, etc.) from across the country

Dracula, Vlad The Impalers Castle
Bran Castle in Romania is world renown as Vlad Dracula's Castle. Construction of the castle began in 1212 by the Order of the Teutonic Knights. When Vlad the Impaler took power he made modifications to this castle. It features 11 foot thick walls, and sits upon a sheer rock jutting up from a valley in the Transylvanian hills. Supposedly on the hillside next to the castle Vlad impaled over 20,000 troops from the Turks.
