Bald Eagle Video - Real Footage Showing A Bald Eagle - At a ceremony taken on the 28th of June at the Jefferson Memorial, Washington, Dirk Kempthorne the Secretary of the Interior of the United States revealed that the Bald Eagle was to be taken off the list of threatened and endangered species. Once almost extinct and vanishing from most of the US decades ago, the Bald Eagle is now again increasing in greater numbers than ever before in recorded history and no longer requires the safeguard of the Endangered Species Act.
Facts About Bald Eagles
Bald Eagles were honored as the national bird of the United States in 1782, suggested byWilliam Barton, a Philadelphia artist. However Benjamin Franklin hated the Bald Eagle calling it “a bird of bad moral character” because they’re “too lazy to fish for himself.”
The bald eagles can almost of swim. According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology the Bald Eagle can float on water and use its wings as paddles, this can be very helpful when hunting and catching large fish.
Unfortunately America almost lost one of her treasured national symbols. In 1967 they were designated endangered, for a number of reasons, like loss of habitat, over hunting, and possibly pesticide exposure. They became one of the first animals to be put on the Endangered Species List.
According to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, there are 9,789 nesting pairs of bald eagles in the continuous United States. And that doesn’t even count what’s in Alaska.
Female Bald Eagles can weigh up to 14 pounds and have a wingspan of 8 feet.
They build giant nests. Really giant nest. The largest of any North American bird. The biggest Bald Eagle nest recorded was over 9 feet (nearly 3 m) wide and 20 feet (about 6 m) high. It weighed over 4,000 lbs.
This bird live a long time too! Bald eagles can live up to 28 years in the wild and 36 years in captivity.

Golden eagle attacks and kills deer
Subscribe to ITN News:
Eagles have been known to attack smaller birds, snakes and mammals but it is rare for such an incident to be caught on camera. The Zoological Society of London has released three photographs of a massive golden eagle digging its claws into a sika deer's back, and the pictures have become an online sensation. The rare attack happened in Russia's far east, and the young, but large deer was actually killed by the bird of prey. The proof of that came in the form of a fourth photo, snapped by remote cameras two weeks later.
The deer's mangled carcass was spotted by a researcher as she approached the camera trap to switch the memory cards and change the batteries. The fact that there were no tracks leading up to the dead deer prompted scientists to check the cameras, and that is when they saw the eagle attack. The traps were originally set up in the Lazovsky Nature Reserve to monitor Siberian tigers. Golden eagles do not often attack deer in the wild, which adds even more scientific value to the photos. Report by Mark Morris.

Nocturnal Bird Calls
This lovely bird likes to sing all night long, at the top of its lungs. What a joy having it belt out tunes in a tree right next to my bedroom window.
You can't see the bird in this picture. He's actually off to the right a little, in a dark part of the tree. I just wanted something to show up in the video, so I pointed the camera at the streetlight.
Does anyone know what kind of bird does this?
And why does it have to do it ALL FREAKIN' NIGHT LONG!
