Club Peorian Disco Photo Slideshow
Photos from the original Club in Peoria Illinois circa late 80's early 90's.
Some of them are a little messed up as they all went underwater for about a week during an Illinois river flood many years ago. I was lucky it didn't do more damage.
The odd shaped photos were cut back when I used to create collages that hung in the Club.
Quite a few of the people in the photos are no longer with us.

Video of Bo Wood - Lake Shelbyville, IL from Michael M.
This video shows the campgrounds at Bo Wood recreation area on Lake Shelbyville, Near Sullivan, IL.
-----------------------------------------
Michael M.'s Review on The Dyrt:
▶︎ Campground with all the comforts
The Forest Bo Wood Recreation area has grown each year since I first camped there in 1979.
In 2017 it has 150 camping sites, a boat ramp, fish cleaning station, several picnic areas and a bait shop at the entrance on Illinois Route 32 4 miles South of Sullivan. The camp sites all have parking space for a big rig and one vehicle. There are some tent only sites but most have been converted to at least 30 amp electric sites with water hookups near the site. Many lake side sites are available, some years back there was a problem with the bank, but that has been dealt with.
Bath rooms and shower houses are very clean and there is good bank fishing near the pavilion at the turn around at the west end of the area. There is a marina just 1 mile South and across the bridge another ½ mile is the Sullivan beach. Just 1 more mile South is a Rosatti's pizza located in a gas station with a liquor store. Rossati's delivers pizza's to the 2 campgrounds that are this close to the business. People that love the comforts of home while camping love this campground, so it fills up in the spring and summer months.
All sites are spacious and include a picnic table, lantern stand, fire pit with grill grate and some have added camp stove stands. I find that October camping at Bo Woods most agreeable with less people tent camping and less boat traffic on the lake. The fishing this time of year is also very good.

The Johns Manville Corporation
Because of the high amounts of asbestos used in several businesses across the nation, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) created the Superfund (CERCLA) program. The Superfund program helps clean up sites that contain an exorbitant amount of asbestos. One such site is the Johns Manville Corporation in Waukegan. Over 3 million cubic yards of products and wastes were dumped at the Johns Manville site, including a plethora of products containing asbestos. The site is bordered by the Illinois State Beach Park and Lake Michigan, two areas that are well-known for recreational use by residents and tourists.
The largest health threat was that there were airborne particles of asbestos at the site, which were moving all around the surrounding areas. As a result, the site was shut down in 1998. Since then, seven locations outside of the site’s fenced area have been found to be contaminated with asbestos. One of the areas was cleaned up by the EPA in 2000 and the rest were cleaned up in the following years. In addition, several wastewater treatment ponds were shut down in 2005. The clean-up is still ongoing.
Other Occupations Exposed to Asbestos in Illinois
People who worked in oil refineries, steel plants, and power plants in Illinois run the highest risk of developing mesothelioma and/or other asbestos-related diseases. All standard oil refineries in Illinois have been a part of lawsuits, and almost all power generation plants used asbestos. As a result, some of these workers now suffer from malignant mesothelioma.
Several schools and administrative buildings were built using asbestos products. As the buildings get older, the risk for mesothelioma cancer grows higher. Teachers, administrators, other employees, and students all run the risk of exposure if they attended these schools. Some schools have since been demolished because of the overabundance of asbestos. Other schools, such a large universities, remain open, but undergo regular monitoring of asbestos.
