-June 28, 1992 7.3 Landers Earthquake near Yucca Valley, California. The earthquake was the largest quake to have occurred in the contiguous United States in 40 years. The shaking lasted two to three minutes and was more powerful than the 1994 Northridge earthquake also located in Southern California. The video shows significant damage occurred to the streets and local buildings but damage and loss of life were minimal to what they could have been.
Interesting enough, the 1992 Landers earthquake occurred at 04:57am.
-Sorry about the quality of the tape. It was filmed with an old VHS and then transferred to cd.
Approximately 4 hours prior to the earthquake the dogs in the neighborhood were barking continually for hours. So much that we were unable to sleep. Unusual animal behavior is also a good indication that something out of the ordinary is about to occur. Be aware of the signs.

Take a look at the serene scenery. I'd recommend coming out here and the staff is wonderful. I definitely will be visiting to center myself again!

Worst earthquake in 25 years rocks California
A large earthquake rocked California's northern Bay Area damaging buildings, igniting fires, knocking out power to tens of thousands and sending residents running out of their homes in the darkness
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struckwine country north of San Francisco early on Sunday, injuring dozens of people, damaging historic buildings, setting some homes on fire and causing power outages around the picturesque town of Napa.
The earthquake struck just before 3:30am (1030 GMT) about 6 miles southwest of Napa, in California wine country.
It was the largest to hit the Bay Area since the Loma Prieta quake in 1989, which killed 63 people and caused $6 billion (£3.6bn) in property damage.
That earthquake measured 6.9, while the famous one that levelled San Francisco in 1906 measured 7.8.
Three people were seriously injured, including a child who had multiple fractures after a fireplace fell on him. Six fires broke out, including one that consumed six mobile homes.
Most damage appeared centred around Napa, a famous wine-producing region and a major tourist destination in northern California.
Brick facades gave way in the historic section of downtown Napa, and bricks fell off a second floor corner of the courthouse, which showed cracks. On the main street, masonry collapsed onto a car.
The earthquake knocked out power to about 40,000 homes and businesses in Napa and neighbouring cities of Sonoma, St. Helena and Santa Rosa, according to the website for Pacific Gas & Electric.

The Integratron is the creation of George Van Tassel, and is based on the design of Moses' Tabernacle, the writings of Nikola Tesla and telepathic directions from extraterrestrials. This one-of-a-kind building is a 38-foot high, 55-foot diameter, non-metallic structure originally designed by Van Tassel as a rejuvenation and time machine. The June 1992 7.3 Landers Earthquake caused significant damage to Hwy. 62 (Old Woman Springs Rd.) and the Yucca Valley Bowling Alley. The preceding day Caltrans crews were repairing roads. Only one death occurred and approximately 25 injuries. Homes near the earthquake epicenter were without water for approximately 2 weeks due to broken pipes. Electricity was restored fairly quickly. It is imperative to store food and water for future earthquake survival.
