Kingman Arizona - FREE Things To See - Route 66
EP 21: Things to see and do in Kingman that won't take the money from YOUR pocket.
ROUTE 66 Hackberry General Store, Arizona. (Road Trip USA #2)
ROUTE 66 Hackberry General Store, Arizona. Winter. Hackberry is an unincorporated community in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. Hackberry is located on Arizona State Route 66 (former U.S. Route 66) 23 miles (37 km) northeast of Kingman. Hackberry has a post office which serves 68 residential mailboxes with ZIP code 86411.
In 1992, itinerant artist Bob Waldmire re-opened the Hackberry General Store as a Route 66 tourism information post and souvenir shop on the former Northside Grocery site.
Waldmire sold the store to John and Kerry Pritchard in 1998 due to local disputes regarding the environmental and aesthetic impact of quarries, which by that time were establishing themselves in the area to remove local stone for use in landscaping. The store remains in operation with a collection of vintage cars from the heyday of U.S. Route 66 in Arizona; in 2008, its owners donated land for a new fire hall to be built for the community.

Arizona Route 66
Westbound on Route 66 from Seligman to Kingman, AZ.
USA Trip 2017 - 17.09.2017 Route 66 (Teil 1)

Berma-Shave signs - Old Route 66 near Seligman, Arizona
Started in 1925, Burma-Shave was an American brand of brushless shaving cream, famous for its advertising gimmick of posting humorous rhyming poems on small sequential highway roadside signs. The signs were discontinued in about 1963 only to appear again, in the 21st Century, in a few places around the country (mostly for fun).

66 Favorites: The Chase Letters
Sharon Smith, MHM's curator of civic and personal identity, shares the story of historic neon sign that once sat atop St. Louis's Chase Hotel. The sign is on display in our Route 66: Main Street Through St. Louis exhibit until it closes on July 16, 2017. More info at: mohistory.org/route66
Exploring Route 66
Took a trip to route 66 and saw some amazing places, abandoned motels and hotels and the Grand Canyon.
Hackberry General Store visit
Route 66 - Seligman to Hackberry
I drove east to start exploring my way back along a piece of historic Route 66 starting in Seligman Arizona. Visited some shops and quirky stops along the way west to Hackberry Arizona. Lots of strange stops, old cars and touristy roadside attractions from days gone by. I also captured 4 sets of the iconic BurmaShave signs that used to keep drivers occupied as they drove the long hours down Route 66 making their way along the Mother Road. Also found something that warranted a quick episode of Big Stuff! It’s a long one but hopefully you all enjoy it. Thanks for watching, Wayne
