Alberobello – Ancient Town of Trulli in Italy (HD1080p)
*** Alberobello, Puglia, Italy. A small town in a „heel“ of the country is famous for the authentic and unique trulli – a hut with a cone-shaped roof. They are very well preserved and included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is estimated that the present settlement counts its history from the 14th century, meanwhile these distinct houses were being built from the 16th century. ***

Citalia Presents | Puglia
Miles of unspoilt coastline, World Heritage-worthy towns, green heartlands to rival Tuscany – Puglia has the lot. Way down in Italy’s sun-kissed south, visitors are only just beginning to notice the region’s charms, from its refreshingly rustic cuisine to its postcard beaches.
Puglia’s food and wine credentials rival Tuscany’s, with acres of fertile countryside producing quality wines, cheeses and vegetables. Ingredients are fresh, locally grown and simple, but always delicious. Staples include orecchiette, little ear-shaped pasta traditionally handmade, and olive oil – the region grows olives in abundance, and is responsible for producing the largest quantities of Italian olive oil.
As one of Italy’s southernmost regions, you’ll find a fabulous Mediterranean climate and huge coastline to play with – the longest of any Italian region, in fact. Beaches range from rugged and rural, to white sands that wouldn’t look out of place in the Caribbean. You don’t have to venture far too find them; within half an hour of Lecce is the spectacular Salento peninsula, known for crystal-clear waters and peaceful shores.
When it comes to Puglia’s cities, Lecce is the name on everyone’s lips. The so-called ‘Florence of the South’, this charming baroque city is home to one of Italy’s loveliest centro storicos (historic centres), crowned by a soaring cathedral and Roman amphitheatre. With an artisan shopping scene and hundreds of authentic restaurants, Lecce certainly has the culture and history to rival the Renaissance capital – just with a fraction of the crowds. The city of Ostuni, meanwhile, covers a hillside above the plains. Known as the ‘White City’, Ostuni’s characteristic whitewashed buildings weave up and down hills, through cobbled passageways and shady courtyards. Don’t leave Puglia without a trip to ‘trulli town’. Alberobello is one of the region’s most unique and characterful towns, filled with Puglia’s famous trulli houses. These little stone houses have cone-shaped roofs and cover Alberobello’s hillsides in their hundreds, resembling a picturesque toy town.

Citalia Presents | Rome
Rome is a city with history and culture around every corner. From the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon in the historic centre, to the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum and the grand terraces of the Colosseum, there’s plenty to discover.
Across the Tiber River you’ll find Vatican City, home to one of the best museums in the world. A tour of its art-filled halls is a must-do, ending in the spectacular surroundings of the Sistine Chapel. Don’t miss St. Peter’s Basilica, either – its cavernous interior houses marble sculptures, priceless paintings and huge frescoes.

What else to eat in Puglia | My Italy with Margarita
The Apulian city of Alberobello is famous for trulli or cone shaped houses. Once homes to the people of this region, the few remaining trulli have been converted to restaurants and shops. At L’Aratro, Margarita learns how to make Puglia’s favorite pasta, orecchiette. In the neighboring town of Altamura, she meets the burrata brothers, Vito, Paolo and Angelo Dicecca and the pane brothers bakers Michele and Giovanni Petronella. The region is known for burrata, having originated in the nearby Apulain town of Andria, while the bread from Altamura has just been awarded DOP status or Protected Designation of Origin.

Ostuni | Puglia
Visible for miles around, Ostuni is a gleaming tumble of painted buildings and dramatic brick-built palaces, perched almost entirely on a steep hilltop. Ostuni’s whitewashed centro storico lends the town its second name as the ‘White City’ of Puglia, and there are few places as atmospheric found anywhere else in the region.
Most visits begin with a walk through the old town, towards the mighty duomo towering high above the Puglian plains. It’s a steep ascent, but one that’ll take you through some of the most magical of Ostuni’s streets: think white-walled passages with uneven floors and pretty cafes tucked into sheltered courtyards. The views at the top are well worth the climb, and the beautiful 15th-century cathedral with its 24-pane rose window is quite a sight, too.

Tuscany Tours presents Treasured Moments in Puglia
Tuscany Tours ( in Puglia, Italy - A treasured moment from our Best of Puglia immersion journey. Our group enjoyed a private performance during our visit to Puglia. Sit back and enjoy.
This was only one of the many treasured moments we had during this tour. Best of Puglia tour visits Polignano al Mare, Alberobello (the home of the Trulli houses), Matera in Basilicata (one of the most fascinating UNESCO sites), Locorotundo, Monopoli, Ostuni, Lecce (the Baroque city of the south), Porto Cesareo and the beautiful Puglia countryside.
Benvenuti in Puglia! Welcome to the heel of the boot, the country’s least-exploited tourist destination, which has been conquered by just about everyone, from the Byzantine Greeks to the Romans, the Arabs, and the Bourbons.
Puglia has a microclimate that ensures sunny weather for much of the year. Il solleone, the so-called lion sun, and a fertile land allow Puglia to grow intensely flavored olives, fruit, and vegetables in abundance.
Puglia has hundreds of miles of golden beaches with azure water, a breathtaking combination of whitewashed hilltop villages and the Baroque beauty of cities such as Lecce...plus some of the tastiest food in Italy.
We’ll stay in two areas, the North near the “Trulli” and in the Baroque city of Lecce. We’ll visit Polignano al Mare, Alberobello (the home of the Trulli houses), Matera in Basilicata (one of the most fascinating UNESCO sites), Locorotundo, Monopoli, Ostuni, Lecce (the Baroque city of the south), Porto Cesareo and the beautiful Puglia countryside.
