Lake Winnipeg at Gimli Manitoba
Lake Winnipeg is a lake which is a remnant of Lake Agassiz. In recent decades it has suffered from the early stages of eutrophication as sewage and farm runoff boosts the nutrients in the watershed. Algal blooms have become more common and the commercial fishery has improved. Something will have to be done though to stabilise and perhaps reverse the eutrophication process. Filmed 26 Aug 2013.

Hudson miracle 4/5
- In recognition of Captain C.B. Sullenberger's heroic actions.- While on its initial climb out, the Airbus 320 struck a flock of Canada Geese which resulted in an immediate almost complete loss of thrust from both engines. When the aircrew determined that the plane would be unable to safely reach any airfield from its location just northeast of the George Washington Bridge, they turned it southbound and glided over the river, then ditched the airliner virtually intact near the USS Intrepid Museum in midtown Manhattan. After the 155 occupants safely evacuated the partially submerged and sinking plane they were all rescued.
The entire crew of Flight 1549 was later awarded the Master's Medal of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators. The award citation read, This emergency ditching and evacuation, with the loss of no lives, is a heroic and unique aviation achievement.

United Boeing 747
It’s the end of an era for the x With its iconic hump, United’s last “Queen of the Skies” will be retired today at San Francisco International Airport.
“It’s a special place in my heart and I wasn’t born in the 70s, I want to see what it was like to fly back in the 70s,” said Vincent Forni, San Francisco.
The 747 debuted in 1968, it changed air travel, it could handle long trips and could hold more people. But today’s planes are more efficient so the 747 has to go. This plane will likely be parked in an airline graveyard near the Mojave Desert.
