Lakeshore of the Sun Moon Lake with Extravaganza of the Peafowl The peacock zoo is established since Oct. of 1968 by the instruction of the Mr. Kai-Shek Chiang, the late president, and executed by Mr. Ying-Qin He, the general, and Mr. Jie Huang, the provincial minister. Free admission is for all the publics. There are well over 100 peafowl and other rare species such as the Formosan Blue Magpie (Urocissa Caerulea), Mikado Pheasant, Golden Pheasant (Chrysolophus Pictus), and many others in the zoo. The peafowl do not like to get close to human in general, but the peafowl in here are different. They love to get close to the public and love to have photo taken with visitors.

In the recreation area there are large amounts of old forests, the climate is cool and mild, with scenic spots such as the sacred tree, forest, Daxue Pond, gingko forest etc. This is the perfect place for escaping from the heat of summer, going on vacations and camping trips. In the forest there are diverse varieties of trees and bamboos to appreciate, for instance: Taiwan Spruce, Red Pagoda, Cryptomeria, Taiwan Cherry, Cyathea taiwaniana, Machilus zuihoensis, Moso Bamboo, Taiwan Fir, Angel’s Trumpets etc.

Ginkgo trees in Xitou Nature Education Area, Nantou County, start to turn brilliant yellow
It’s that time of the year when the ginkgo forest at Xitou Nature Education Area in Nantou County offers up a spectacular display of autumn color. The leaves on over 80 massive trees in the park are already starting to turn a thrilling shade of yellow. Travelers from Taiwan and beyond are flocking to the park to get a glimpse of the show. Xitou, which boasts the biggest ginkgo forest in Southeast Asia, is always a big draw for tourists, many of whom come to take pictures of the changing colors.As the only surviving member of a family of non-flowering plants dating back 270 million years, the ginkgo tree is one of the best known “living fossils” of the plant world. Now, the ginkgos in Xitou are starting to turn a brilliant yellow, thanks to the recent arrival of a cold front.Chung Li-chanXitou Forest Area DirectorThey started to turn color last week, due to a new weather front in Taiwan together with certain rainfall conditions. The ginkgo trees in the park are now in turn shedding their yellow leaves. But because of the rain, we’re expecting a shortened window for looking at the yellow leaves, which should all have fallen off by around the end of the month. Administrators of the forest maintained by National Taiwan University indicated that a sufficient amount of rainfall this year had ensured that visitors to Xitou would be able to behold the autumn color in its full splendor.

Sun-Link-Sea Forest and Nature Resort has been on of the best tourist spots in Taiwan. Sun-Link-Sea near apart from the Sun Moon Lake.
Sun-Link-Sea is at an elevation of about 1,600 meters, belonging to the weather of the temperate zone monsoon, and it’s average temperature is 20℃ in summer. Visitors can see the cloud and must curl up the whole year round. Sun-Link-Sea is undoubtedly a perfect spot to spend a holiday.

This is our senior project and we decide to arrange a wonderful trip in Taiwan. By the way, the study focuses on natural, and Nantou is the main tourism spot.
