VLOG JAPON 2017 - 08 - Kurashiki
Visit an Ancient Culture in Charming Kurashiki, Japan: Day 2
We spent a second day in Kurashiki, discovering new sites, including Achi Shrine which dates back 1,700 years, eating and shopping. Kurashiki is a big tourist destination. Tour buses arrived daily, and sightseers spent the day visiting museums and walking around.
The many little food stalls always had something to tempt.

Aoi Matsuri: Saiō-Dai Lady Arriving at Kamigamo Shrine.
Today the annual Aoi Matsuri (葵祭) was held here in Kyoto, the old heir capital of Japan. The Saiō-Dai Lady (斎王代) and her entourage is seen here entering the Kamigamo shrine (上賀茂神社) in Kyoto. This is the final destination of this exquisite matsuri and the end of a long day for the participants. This year the role of the Saiō-Dai Lady (斎王代) is presented by miss Shirai Yū Tasuku (白井 優佐). She is be dressed in the traditional style of the Heian court. Traditional Heian court dress for women would be wearing several layers of exquisitely coloured silk robes. The Saiō-Dai wears twelve layers of the traditional style robes (jūnihitoe).

Feature: Yasaka Shrine
Before it was renamed as the Yasaka Shrine in 1868, it was called Gion-sha or Kanshin-in. There are different stories regarding its foundation; one of them is by Irishi of the envoy from Goryeo in 656, and another by monk Ennyo in 876. It is the Chief Shrine of all 22 Yasaka shrines in Japan. The Gion festival is famous.

Tofukuji Kyoto Japan
Tofuku-ji is near the centre of Kyoto. It's a sprawling complex of temples belonging to the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. Several of the 24 subtemples have gardens, some of which feature raked gravel and large rocks. Many of the gardens contain varieties of acer trees, otherwise known as Japanese maple. During November their leaves turn to various shades of red, orange, scarlet, yellow, gold, burgundy and crimson. Visitors from around the world as well as every region of Japan flock here to enjoy the spectacle. Sightseers are allowed to enter some of the temples, but photography is forbidden within them.
Kyoto, Japan, Temple Gardens: Fushimi-Inari-Taisha, Tofuku-ji, Maruyama Park
Kyoto is Japan’s majestic city of ancient temples, serene gardens and superb cultural treasures. Your most enjoyable activity will probably be strolling through artistically designed garden landscapes with their winding paths, tranquil ponds, stately trees, lush vegetation and traditional wooden temples, including Fushimi-Inari-Taisha, Tofuku-ji and Maruyama Park.
The sublime gardens unfold as you walk along paths that lead through changing vistas around each bend, where you can stop frequently to absorb each new perspective looking left, right, up and down. The different views are enhanced by small statues, foot-bridges, bamboo railings, temple back-drops and glimpses of distant mountains, all exquisitely arranged to be appreciated in moments of reflection.
Kyoto was ranked as the number one visitor destination in the world by the readers of Travel and Leisure magazine for two years in a row in 2014 and 2015, quite an honor.
More than 50 million visitors come to Kyoto each year, most of them are just staying for the day then moving on, but about 1 million of them do spend the night in a local hotel -- there are lots of accommodations of all price ranges -- and most of the visitors are Asian. No doubt with the growth of Chinese travel these numbers are going to continue increasing.
These crowds of visitors could very much interfere with your appreciation of Kyoto’s heavenly gardens. So, try to visit during the less-busy late fall or early spring in order to properly experience the tranquil garden atmosphere.

Autumn in Japan ???? 4k (Ultra HD) - Japan Travel Vlog : Osaka, Kyoto, Nara & Hiroshima
Japan has always been a good place if you want to experience both the modern urbanism and tranquil nature. Autumn in Japan is aesthetically beautiful.???? The highlights of this trip were Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Hiroshima prefectures. However, I have also included other off the beaten path (maybe) destinations like Uji, Amanohashidate, Wakayama, Okayama and Kurashiki as well. For more details, please check the list of places I have visited down here below.
Some of the footage looks extremely crappy (especially the ones under low light condition). I had quite a time to get used to the settings of the newly bought osmo ^^''

Kyoto | Our favorite spots to visit
Copy the trip we took on Odigo!

Kyoto is the number one travel destination in Japan, and because there are SO. MANY. things to see there it can be hard to figure out where to go. These are our three recommendations for first-time visitors: Kiyomizu-dera, Arashiyama (which is also where Tenryu-ji is), and Gion and the nearby street Shijo Dori + Yasaka shrine. Fushimi Inari Taisha is probably one of the more famous areas, but for us it was SO crowded that it was difficult to even get around. It kind of just made me feel sad because you could tell how incredibly beautiful and almost magical it would have been hundreds of years ago, but with the crowds today it was just about impossible to enjoy it. That's just my opinion, though, and many people love it anyway!
Kiyomizu-dera, Arashiyama, and the Gion general area are all extremely crowded, too (of course), but to me they were worth it despite that. And that's saying something because I can't stand crowded tourist spots!!
We also met the amazing singer Reika (of the group Juuichi) on Shijo Dori, and they very graciously allowed us to use their music!!
