Cycling Gippsland Plains Rail Trail 2017

Cycling Gippsland Plains Rail Trail 2017 is a 5-min 720p hi-def video showing Andrew and I cycling along the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail from Traralgon to Stratford in April 2017. Note that the Rail Trail starts north of Traralgon East, about 5km from Traralgon. We used our free Seniors Rail Pass to travel to Traralgon and later back from Stratford. There are plenty of places along the Rail Trail to stop for a coffee or to have lunch. You are advised however that some cafes are not open on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. As I was filming the ride to make this video, we took 2 days to cycle the 65 km Rail Trail and we stayed one night at Heyfield in lovely motel units at Broadbent's Motor Inn.

Morwell Fire 2014 (The Next Day the Fires Still Burn and Move into the Hazelwood Open Cut)

The Morwell Fire the Next day.
Will You Survive a Disaster!
The fires cause a number home evacuations in the South and West of Morwell, while the winds were blowing. By late evening the winds had died down a bit and helped to slow down the spread of the fire towards the city of Morwell.

There was a lot less noise from the fire services sirens, planes and helicopters, which gave us a sense that there was a good change that the emergency services where getting on top of this wild fire that had caused some damage to the outskirts of Morwell.

The photos in this video are of the next day which was a lot calmer than the day before that rocked Morwell. We spoke to a few friends that had been evacuated, and they had never been through this before. Some could not believe this was happening and other had no issue in getting out and leaving. After the Ash Wednesday fires and the other fires we had seen in the hills, it was easy for most people to get out just in case.

The Morwell fire is still burning and has entered in to the Hazelwood open cut. This smoke is a lot darker than, the original grass fire smoke.

Went and captured some of my most favorite trails, hidden deep in the hills North of Glengarry.

Unfortunately I had some technical issues on the day and missed out on capturing some of the most epic woodwork up there - I'll have to get back up there and capture it all!
