COOL ALASKAN KIDS!!! What to do with your kids in Alaska.
Breaking ice is one of our Alaska pastimes. How to have fun breaking ice when the snow is all gone. November in Alaska and there is no snow at Alyeska to ski, so we make the best of it by exploring Turnagain Pass and breaking all the ice we can find. All ice breaking in this video was safe, and supervised by our parents.

OUR STORY | HOW THE FREEDOM THEORY CAME TO BE
WATCH FROM THE BEGINNING |
We live in a 33 foot fifth wheel tiny home camper that we are currently traveling the USA in! It is an alternative lifestyle we find that it brings us the most freedom. Living in a RV full time was never something we planned to do. Instead we jumped right into it. In a matter of 30 days. We bought a RV and the following day bought a truck to tow with!

Historic Gold Mine, Panning & Salmon Bake
Get rich quick! At least give panning for gold a try near the famous Alaska-Juneau gold mine, one of the worlds largest hard rock mining operations. Then enjoy a delicious salmon bake where wild Alaskan caught salmon is grilled over an open alderwood fire. Afterwards, roast marshmallows over a crackling campfire and view the beautiful Salmon Creek waterfall.
Head out with a prospector/guide in authentic 19th century dress for a historical tour of Juneau including the state capitol. Then, turn up the road to Gold Creek and Last Chance Basin, where Joe Juneau and Richard Harris struck gold in 1880. In a secluded setting alongside Gold Creek your prospector shows you how gold panning is done. Then, its your turn, as you learn how to expertly work the pan with helpful tips and advice. Youre guaranteed to find gold! And, all that glitters is yours to keep. Around you are remnants of the original buildings of the Alaska-Juneau Mining Company. Youll learn about the mining techniques that were used and more about the quest for gold that is so much a part of Alaskas history. Take home a souvenir Gold Claim Certificate, all the gold you find, and an appreciation of what it was like to seek your fortune in the wilds of Alaska more than a century ago. The Gold Creek Salmon Bake is an all-you-can-eat adventure in a unique outdoor setting thats been grilled to perfection for more than 30 years. Savor the aroma of wild salmon, grilling slowly over fires of fragrant alder wood while enjoying entertainment provided by local musicians. The sumptuous spread has something for everyone. Choose from salmon, chicken, baked beans, wild rice pilaf, potatoes and other sides, salads, beverages and desert. After dinner, roast marshmallows over a campfire. Stroll through forest to Salmon Creek waterfall. Visit the trading post to purchase a souvenir.
Snow Shipped In Via Rail for AK Iditarod Race
(4 Mar 2016) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: AP CLIENTS ONLY
AP TELEVISION - AP CLIENTS ONLY
Anchorage, Alaska - 3 March 2016
1. Shot of backhoe pulling down side of tippable train car and snow falls onto the ground.
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Sullivan, manager of external affairs, Alaska Railroad:
We've got seven rail cars that can tip sideways that are bringing in snow from Fairbanks. We've got about 350 cubic yards of snow coming in to help supply the Iditarod and the Fur Rondy for what they need snow for this coming weekend.
3. Wide shot of backhoe pulling down snow from tipped rail car.
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Sullivan, manager of external affairs, Alaska Railroad:
It seems there is not enough snow in Anchorage this year. We've had some snowfall, but the weather has been warm and it keeps melting it away. So we haven't had the opportunity to keep it on the ground here.
5. Various of backhoe pulling down snow, cleaning up pavement in front of train.
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Sullivan, manager of external affairs, Alaska Railroad:
350 cubic yards would cover a football field about 2-3 inches deep.
7. Wide shot of backhoe cleaning up snow on pavement
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Sullivan, manager of external affairs, Alaska Railroad:
No, we haven't done this before. You know, we've moved snow with these Air dump or side dump cars before, but it's always been for our purposes, whether it's moving from an avalanche or moving it from one place to another. But this is the first time we've been asked and have had the opportunity to help out Anchorage and help out the Iditarod with this process.
9. Wide shot last snow coming out of railcar.
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Sullivan, manager of external affairs, Alaska Railroad:
That's exactly right. We're moving snow out of the way. We don't usually bring it somewhere else.
11. Wide shot of backhoe moving snow.
12. SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Sullivan, manager of external affairs, Alaska Railroad:
We are donating the service. It's our opportunity to help out what's going on in our community, and really help out the icon that is the Iditarod.
13. Various of second train car being readied to be dumped
STORYLINE:
The Alaska Railroad on Thursday shipped seven cars of snow 360 miles from Fairbanks to Anchorage to make sure there's enough snow on the city streets and trails for the ceremonial start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race on Saturday and for the city's winter carnival, Fur Rondy.
Persistent warm temperatures the last few weeks have melted the snow that remained on the streets and put a severe dent into the snow the city stockpiled for the annual fan-friendly event where mushers and auction winners travel throughout Anchorage.
Even with the extra snow, the normal 11-mile route for the ceremonial race has been shorted to three miles. The race will start as normal on Sunday, March 6, in Willow, Alaska, about 50 miles north of Anchorage.

SUMMARY

Anchorage (officially called the Municipality of Anchorage; Dena'ina: Dgheyaytnu) is a unified home rule municipality in the U.S. state of Alaska. With an estimated 298,192 residents in 2016, it is Alaska's most populous city and contains more than 40 percent of the state's total population; among the 50 states, only New York has a higher percentage of residents who live in its most populous city. All together, the Anchorage metropolitan area, which combines Anchorage with the neighboring Matanuska-Susitna Borough, had a population of 401,635 in 2016, which accounts for more than half of the state's population. At 1,706 square miles of land area, the city is larger than the smallest state, Rhode Island, at 1,212 square miles.Anchorage is in the south-central portion of Alaska, at the terminus of the Cook Inlet, on a peninsula formed by the Knik Arm to the north and the Turnagain Arm to the south. The city limits span 1,961.1 square miles (5,079.2 km2) which encompass the urban core, a joint military base, several outlying communities and almost all of Chugach State Park.Due to its location, almost equidistant from New York City, Frankfurt, and Tokyo, Anchorage lies within 9 1⁄2 hours by air of nearly 90% of the industrialized world. For this reason, the Anchorage International Airport is a common refueling stop for many international cargo flights and home to a major FedEx hub, which the company calls a critical part of its global network of services.Anchorage has won the All-America City Award four times: in 1956, 1965, 1984–85, and 2002, by the National Civic League. It has also been named by Kiplinger as the most tax-friendly city in the United States.

SUMMARY
=======
Alaska ( ( listen); Aleut: Alax̂sxax̂; Inupiaq: Alaskaq; Russian: Аляска, translit. Alyaska) is a U.S. state in the northwest extremity of North America. The Canadian administrative divisions of British Columbia and Yukon border the state to the east, its most extreme western part is Attu Island, and it has a maritime border with Russia (Chukotka Autonomous Okrug) to the west across the Bering Strait. To the north are the Chukchi and Beaufort seas—the southern parts of the Arctic Ocean. The Pacific Ocean lies to the south and southwest. It is the largest state in the United States by area and the
seventh largest subnational division in the world. In addition, it is the 3rd least populous and the most sparsely populated of the 50 United States; nevertheless, it is by far the most populous territory located mostly north of the 60th parallel in North America: its population—estimated at 738,432 by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2015— is more than quadruple the combined populations of Northern Canada and Greenland. Approximately half of Alaska's residents live within the Anchorage metropolitan area. Alaska's economy is dominated by the fishing, natural gas, and oil industries, resources which it has in abundance. Military bases and tourism are also a significant part of the economy.
The United States purchased Alaska from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867, for 7.2 million U.S. dollars at approximately two cents per acre ($4.74/km2). The area went through several administrative changes before becoming organized as a territory on May 11, 1912. It was admitted as the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959.
