On a hill in Gitanyow, BC, overlooking the traditional cemetery, lives a group of totems. Not a touristy place, but a home of traditions. A wonderful place to visit.
Just a few kilometers north from Kitwanga on Highway 37, the road to and from Alaska for many.

Totem Poles and Railroads
This poem is inspired by and includes images of the Highway 16 in northern British Columbia where Indigenous women have gone missing and found murdered. The contrast is obvious. Natural beauty now synonymous with a nations horrific crisis. Credits include: The University of Northern British Columbia, Michael Crawford for media guidance, with music by the Monster Project aka DJ Deano and Chris Bose. Original poetry by Janet Rogers.
