After doing the full circuit hike in Torres del Paine we stayed for 4 days more at the Hotel Las Torres to explore the other sides and viewpoints of the national park we haven’t seen yet. One of the best options to see various sights in just one day is the Full Paine tour in Torres del Paine which follows the road inside the park and takes you to some very stunning viewpoints e.g. at the Pehoe lake and the Lago Grey.
At the end of the road you can opt-in for a boat excursion on the Lago Grey to see the Grey Glacier up close. The boat trip isn’t cheap but the views to the glacier are incredible! Other great day tours are:
day hike to the base of the torres / mirador base de las torres
day hike / horseback ride to the top of Cerro Paine (aka Huella de Puma)
half day tour to Laguna Amarga & Laguna Azul
horseback ride along the Lago Nordernskjöld
day hike to Refugio Los Perros
This part of the trip was executed within 4 days and this is what we saw:
- Torres del Paine National Park
- Hotel Las Torres
- Cerro Paine
- Hosteria Pehoe
- Southern Patagonian Ice Field
- Salto Grande
- Laguna Amarga
- Laguna Azul
- Campo Hielo Sur
- Glaciar Grey / Grey Glacier
- Refugio Grey
- Hotel Lago Grey
- Lago Nordernskjöld
- Base Las Torres
- Valle Ascencio
- Lago Pehoe
It was a pleasure to share all our experiences in Patagonia in this video series. You can find all information needed to replicate our trip or parts of it on my website.
The Patagonian Expedition is a 95% self funded video documentary project following my trip in 2012/2013. Our aim is to show you the beauty of the rather unknown parts in Patagonia alongside with the famous spots.
Beside beautiful landscape you can expect loads of information and our personal experiences and struggles along the way.

On our trip to Torres del Paine we have seen giant glaciers, beautiful animals and captured the very best drone shots I have ever made. Stunning timelapses and wonderful smooth videos of waterfalls, rainbows and lakes as well as Guanacos, Eagles and snow foxes - everything is in this best of Torres del Paine Video.

For weeks we prepared physically and mentally for our trekking adventure in the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. For me it was the second time doing the full circuit trek after I did the circuit back in 2013. The Torres del Paine circuit is also called the „O“ due to the shape of the trail - it also represents the extension of the „W“ trek which is most famous hiking route in Chile.
Before heading into the park we prepared in Puerto Natales where we bought all supplies needed and planned out our trip and route. We took the early bus into the park and left all the stuff we didn’t need for the trek at the Hotel Las Torres where we were supposed to stay after the finish of the trek.
This part of the trip was executed within 8 days and this is what we saw:
- Torres del Paine National Park
- Hotel Las Torres
- Campamento Serón
- Refugio Dickson
- Southern Patagonian Ice Field
- Campamento Los Perros
- Glaciar Los Perros
- Puerto Natales
- Campo Hielo Sur
- Campamento Paso
- Glaciar Grey / Grey Glacier
- Refugio Grey
- Refugio Paine Grande
- Campamento Italiano
- Mirador Britanico & French Valley / Valle Frances
- Refugio Los Cuernos
- Refugio Chileno
- Campamento Torres (CONAF)
- Lago Nordernskjöld
- Base Las Torres
- Valle Ascencio
- Lago Pehoe
- Paso John Gardner
I'm excited to share all our experiences in Patagonia in this video series. In the next episode we will do more tours in Torres del Paine National Park and meet more impressive characters along the way.

Glacier Grey Chile
In the Southern ice fields of Patagonia lies a frozen river inching towards Lago Grey and forming a spectacular 30 meter ice wall on its northern shore. This is Glacier Grey located in the western region of the Torres del Paine National Park.
Follow us on our journey north west from Puerto Natales to Hotel Lago Grey from where we catch the boat to head north across the lake. Strong cold winds did not deter us from this iconic natural wonder of Southern Chile.

Patagonia Adventures Part 3 - Torres Del Paine Glacier Grey Ice Hike
After hiking from Paine Grande to Refugio Grey, we take the opportunity to visit Glacier Grey up close. With Bigfoot Adventures, we take a boat to the base of the glacier where we depart. From the base of the glacier, we hike up steep and rocky cliffs until we get to the ice field. From this point, we tie crampons to our feet and arm ourselves with ice axes and head start our hike on the ice field itself. Here, we see many deep blue rivers and small bodies of water. We also get up close and personal with a deep cavern in the ice.

We scoop million year old ice out of the lake and drown it in 12 year Scotch and pisco sours. Good lord! February 2012.

Our Drive to Torres del Paine National Park from Puerto Natales. We used a rental AWD which is not needed but very useful because of the bad road conditions. It really worth doing this trip by car.

Vlog #45 - Parque Nacional Torres del Paine - Dia 1: Lago Grey e Glaciar Grey
