The Borough of Peapack/Gladstone is unique in that two separate, petite, hamlets combined themselves into what is now known as Peapack-Gladstone. This intimate community offers a life style of days gone by… a time of music in the park and warm pubs where the locals gravitate. The area offers commuters two train stops and residents revel in the restaurants, a pastry shop and the unique retailers situated along the main streets. Liberty Park is situated in the heart of this village, as is the Peapack brook which rambles through town. The borough also boasts some of the finest estates in the area, genuine treasures down long, private roadways.
While children attend public schools in the Somerset Hills School District, Peapack-Gladstone is home to several of the finest private schools in the area, including Gil St. Bernards and the Willow School. The United States Equestrian Center Foundation, Hamilton Farm Golf Club, and Natirar are just a few of the well-renowned area landmarks.

SUMMARY
=======
William Ewart Gladstone, (; 29 December 1809 – 19 May 1898) was a British statesman of the Liberal Party. In a career lasting over sixty years, he served for twelve years as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, spread over four terms beginning in 1868 and ending in 1894. He also served as Chancellor of the Exchequer four times.
Gladstone was born in Liverpool to Scottish parents. He first entered the House of Commons in 1832, beginning his political career as a High Tory, a grouping which became the Conservative Party under Robert Peel in 1834. Gladstone served as a minister in both of Peel's governments, and in 1846 joined the breakaway Peelite faction, which eventually merged into the new Liberal Party in 1859. He was Chancellor under Lord Aberdeen (1852–1855), Lord Palmerston (1859–1865), and Lord Russell (1865–1866). Gladstone's own political doctrine—which emphasised equality of opportunity, free trade, and laissez-faire economic policies—came to be known as Gladstonian liberalism. His popularity amongst the working-class earned him the sobriquet The People's William.
In 1868, Gladstone became Prime Minister for the first time. Many reforms were passed during his first ministry, including the disestablishment of the Church of Ireland and the introduction of secret voting. After electoral defeat in 1874, Gladstone resigned as Leader of the Liberal Party; but from 1876 he began a comeback based on opposition to Turkey's reaction to the Bulgarian April Uprising. His Midlothian Campaign of 1879–80 was an early example of many modern political campaigning techniques. After the 1880 general election, Gladstone formed his second ministry (1880–1885), which saw the passage of the Third Reform Act as well as crises in Egypt (culminating in the Fall of Khartoum) and Ireland, where the government passed repressive measures but also improved the legal rights of Irish tenant farmers.
Back in office in early 1886, Gladstone proposed home rule for Ireland but was defeated in the House of Commons. The resulting split in the Liberal Party helped keep them out of office—with one short break—for twenty years. Gladstone formed his last government in 1892, at the age of 82. The Second Home Rule Bill passed through the House of Commons but was defeated in the House of Lords in 1893. Gladstone left office in March 1894, aged 84, as both the oldest person to serve as Prime Minister and the only Prime Minister to have served four terms. He left parliament in 1895 and died three years later. Gladstone was known affectionately by his supporters as The People's William or the G.O.M. (Grand Old Man, or, according to his political rival Benjamin Disraeli, God's Only Mistake). Historians often call him one of the greatest leaders. A.J.P. Taylor has stated, William Ewart Gladstone was the greatest political figure of the nineteenth century. I do not mean by that that he was necessarily the greatest statesman, certainly not the most successful. What I mean is that he dominated the scene.
Farmland REIT Gladstone Land Weathering California Drought
David Gladstone, chairman, president and CEO of Gladstone Land Corp. (NASDAQ: LAND), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview during REITWeek 2015: NAREIT’s Investor Forum, held in New York.
Gladstone Land is the country’s first-ever publicly traded company investing in U.S. farmland and the country’s first stock exchange-listed farmland REIT. Gladstone explained that the company operates with both shorter-term and longer-term leases. Shorter-term leases are generally used by farmers raising produce, corn and wheat. Longer-term leases are favored by farmers planting fruit trees and bushes, he said.
Gladstone Land operates in five states, including California. Gladstone said California’s ongoing drought has not impacted the REIT since it does not buy farmland without wells or other water sources.
“From the drought standpoint, we’re not seeing any diminution of rents. They continue to go up,” Gladstone said. He added that any time a farm becomes vacant, four or five potential tenants usually express interest in the property.
Meanwhile, Gladstone commented that declining values for Midwest farmland properties that are focused on corn and other grains could present a buying opportunity. However, he emphasized that Gladstone Land has a preference for using the land for produce and staple crops such as strawberries, a particular specialty of the company.

Not long ago, I heard about a company called AcreTrader.
This is a real estate crowdfunding platform that invests in farmland throughout the United States and gives accredited investors the opportunity to diversify their money into assets outside of the stock market.
Even in the real estate world, farmland is a very different type of real estate asset. It doesn't follow the same trends as the rest of the real estate market as a whole (e.g. - single-family houses, apartments, and other commercial buildings). In many ways, farmland operates in a world of its own, and values rise and fall based on the global supply and demand of farmland and food commodities (with a limited amount of farmland available and a growing number of mouths to feed worldwide).
Investing in farmland is a way to diversify, not just into real estate, but into a real estate class that isn't controlled by the same type of volatility that affects most of the conventional real estate investments that people think of.

A look at a 200 year old plantation on a rainy day in Georgia
It's a grey, rainy day in Georgia and I should be working on the homestead, making gun videos or wandering miserably along some dark forsaken highway looking for a faithless woman. Instead I decided to take a little road trip to see what my homestead could look like if I worked on it instead of taking road trips.

Oregon City Water Works Memaloose & S. Clackamas Explore
***Update***
The South Fork Water Line Exhibit is now open on the 2nd floor of the Clackamas County Historical Society. Located in Oregon City at 211 Tumwater Drive.
Lots of information and photos to view.
**** **** **** ****
In 1915, a pipeline was built to send much needed drinking water to Oregon City and West Linn. The water was collected from Memaloose Creek, and later the South Fork of the Clackamas about 8½ miles SE of Estacada, Oregon. Decommissioned in 1985, some of the pipeline, artifacts, bridges, and several tunnels still remain as well as three major waterfalls--all within a ½-mile radius.
If you would like a Google Earth KML file I built that shows the semi-accurate locations of the roads, tunnels waterfalls, etc in this video, let me know and I can e-mail that to you.
Here are some links about the area you might find interesting--more to come:
