Clare & Gilbert Valleys Gleeson Wetlands
Regular breaches of the Clare and Gilbert Valley Council's effluent ponds inspired a re-think of the system which has produced excellent environmental and social outcomes.
The containment ponds, on the eastern bank of the Hutt River, pose a major environmental threat to the Hutt River system in the event of a major flood and would also disrupt treatment and disposal from the township.
Grant McKenzie, the Council's Manager Development, Infrastructure and Environment will describe how the comprehensive and integrated Clare Stormwater Re-Use and Waste Water Treatment project is saving around 350 megalitres of water each year, has reduced water potable water use for irrigation, reduced pressure on the Murray River and created attractive public areas for the community and tourism.

Renmark Paringa Riverlife Get Into it
Increased health, improved lifestyle and greater social inclusion are on the wish list of all SA Councils and Renmark Paringa has created a fun and friendly way to increase healthy lifestyle awareness and encourage community participation in a non-threatening environment.
Healthy Communities coordinator Carmel Pethick said Council's Riverlife -- Get Into It program was already exceeding expected participation levels and community response has been terrific.
The Council obtained funding under the Healthy Communities Initiative to increase community awareness of the significance of healthy lifestyles -- particularly for community members in lower socio economic groups, those suffering financial constraints, younger community members and those with education, health and/or language barriers.
Riverlife -- Get Into It also fosters community members who wish to lead community programs but haven't known how to start.
RiverLife -- Get into it! is funded through the Federal Government's Healthy Communities Initiative.
Unley Council Active Aging Initiative
Once upon a time Libraries were about books.
At 91 Una Wood can remember those days but after arranging her tablet training course, she's keeping up with the Y-generation using wifi at Unley Library.
Writing and information comes in many forms today and libraries are still connecting residents to both.
The City of Unley's connection between its library and its community features in this YouTube video, as part of a campaign to highlight the role of Councils and jobs available in Local Government.
Council CEO Peter Tsokas said Council had listened to the changing needs of their community in developing a library for today as well as tomorrow.
