Drive through Ballachulish - Glencoe, Scotland ????????????????????????????
Glencoe is a village in western Scotland. It lies in steep-sided Glencoe valley, in the Scottish Highlands. The area is known for waterfalls and trails that climb peaks such as Buachaille Etive Mor and Bidean nam Bian. In the village, Glencoe Folk Museum occupies 18th-century thatched cottages, with displays on local heritage and the Glencoe massacre of 1692. Wildlife in the area includes red deer and golden eagles.

After hiking the 3 lochs way - we took a bus up through Glencoe and stayed at the village overnight.

We took the A82 north from Arrochar, here joining the video at a viewing point south of the main Glen Coe road (sorry about the wind noise), before stopping at the main Glen Coe viewing point, then joining the video again beyond Fort William as we take the gondola - cable car - up to the lower part of the Ben Nevis peaks. Filmed in May 2015.

Best Winter Drive In Britain A82 Road Glencoe Highlands Scotland
Tour Scotland Winter travel video of part of a road trip drive, with beautiful Scottish music, North and West on the A82 road into Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands, Britain. The route to Glen Coe is one of the most famous driving roads in Scotland and Britain. The A82 is a major road in Scotland that runs from Inverness via Fort William to Glasgow. The route is derived in several places from the military roads constructed through the Highlands by General George Wade and Major William Caulfeild in the 18th century, along with later roads constructed by Thomas Telford in the 19th century. Tourists find the A82 a popular route because of its scenery, and it serves as a main artery for commercial and heavy goods traffic. Two of the three Highlander films starring Christopher Lambert were filmed here. The opening battle scene near the beginning of the film takes place between the mountains of Buchaille Etive Mor and Buchaille Etive Beag, at the entrance to the Glen. This Highlands location featured in Skyfall the James Bond movie, and Harry Potter films mainly because it is the most famous Scottish glen and one of the most dramatic landscapes in the world. The A82 runs from Glasgow to Fort William and Inverness, passing along the shores of Loch Lomond and Loch Ness and in the shadow of Ben Nevis along the way. It is probably the most important trunk route serving the West Highlands of Scotland, and along its route uses pieces of road first built in the 1750s. Glencoe was the scence of one of the most infamous massacres in Scottish history. Driving from either Glasgow, Edinburgh or Perth, Perthshire are great Glencoe driving routes. Distance is 92 miles from Glasgow, 119 miles from Edinburgh or 88 miles from Perth. Approximate time to drive is 2 hours 10 minutes from Glasgow and 2 hours 50 minutes from Edinburgh and 2 hours 18 minutes from Perth.
The Lost Valley - Glencoe - Hillwalking Scotland
This was my first trip to the lost valley in Glencoe. I’d heard so many people talk about it and seen so many pictures that i had to go take a look for myself. It did not disappoint! The lost valley is a one of a kind special place, tucked away between two of the 3 sisters of Glencoe.
The lost valley takes an hour or so to reach on foot over straightforward terrain and the effort is well rewarded.
After reaching the valley, we headed up the far end to the summit of Stob Corie Sgreamhach, a Munro at 1072m. The visibility on the day was superb and we could see over to the Mamores, the rest of the Glencoe Munros and some of the more southern Munros such as Ben Lui and Ben Cruachan. We couldn’t have asked for more. Perfect day out on the hills.

The village of Ballachulish in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland, is centred on former slate quarries. The name Ballachulish was more correctly applied to the area now called North Ballachulish, to the north of Loch Leven, but was usurped for the quarry villages at East Laroch and West Laroch, either side of the River Laroch, which were actually within Glencoe and South Ballachulish respectively.
The name Ballachulish (from Scottish Gaelic, Baile a' Chaolais) means the Village by the Narrows. The narrows in question is Caolas Mhic Phàdraig - Peter or Patrick's son's narrows, at the mouth of Loch Leven. As there was no road to the head of Loch Leven until 1927, the Ballachulish Ferry, established in 1733, and those at Invercoe/Callert and Caolas na Con were essential. The Ballachulish ferry closed in December 1975 when the Ballachulish Bridge finally opened.
The Ballachulish Hotel and Ballachulish House (until recently [2010] a country house hotel) are located near the narrows at (south) Ballachulish Ferry rather than in the modern village some 3 miles (5 km) east. Ballachulish House was reputed to be haunted, and the drive leading to it was ridden by a headless horseman.
Shinty is a popular local sport and the narrows is the traditional boundary of the North/South divide in shinty, with teams north of narrows playing in the North district's competitions and those South playing in their respective competitions. Ballachulish Camanachd Club play in the South Leagues. However, Ballachulish is still considerably far North in relation to most of Scotland. The club has won the Camanachd Cup four times.
In 1903, a branch of the Callander and Oban Railway, from Connel Ferry, was opened to Ballachulish. The site of the former railway halt of Ballachulish Ferry, the penultimate stop on the line before the Laroch quarries, was next to Ballachulish House, some 1⁄2 mile (800 m) inland from the ferry. Traces of the line, which closed in 1966, remain between here and Connel Ferry. The old terminus station at Laroch (Ballachulish) is now a doctor's surgery. The station, and stationmaster's house, at Duror, is now a private house and the station at Creagan, some 20 miles (30 km) south, has been refurbished in its old traditional Caledonian Railway brown.
Slate from the East Laroch quarries, established just two years after the infamous Glencoe Massacre of 1692, was used to provide the roofing slate for much of Edinburgh and Glasgow's skyline in the succeeding centuries. It is of good quality but one weakness is the presence of Iron Pyrite in the rock.
