Road Trip Drive To Church And Graveyard Amulree Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of a road trip drive from Crieff, with Scottish Bagpipes and drums music, through the Sma Glen to the church and graveyard on visit to Amulree, Perthshire, Scotland. Amulree Church was built between 1743 and 1752 and remodelled in 1882. Built to a simple design it has both a bellcote and weather vane. The architect was a John Douglas of Edinburgh. The Amulree church bell was cast in 1519. Amulree parish church contains copies of records of the large number of people who stayed in the area prior to mass emigration, mostly to North Easthope, Canada, in the early 19th Century. North Easthope Township was named after Sir John Easthope, a Canada Company director. The area was settled around 1832 by two main ethnic groups; Highland Scots and Hessen Darmstadt Deutsch due to the Canada Company's advertisement of the local land in Scottish and German newspapers.
A Rare Octagonal Church - Dreghorn and Springside Parish
Octagonal buildings are rare and churches of this shape are even rarer. Dreghorn Church is an octagon, supposedly built this way at the whim of an Earl of Eglinton who got the idea from the continent. John Wesley is said to have favoured this shape and a legend says that buildings this shape were protected from the Devil as he had no corners to hide in. This is now the parish church for Dreghorn & Springside. The old Dreghorn Mortuary survives as the Kirk Session House.

55022 Lochs and Glens Napier 14/09/11 part 3
Possibly the most enjoyable railtour I've been on yet behind 22. Footage split into 3 parts
Firstly redated from 10th August, then with a change of destination, this tour suffered its fair share of probs before even picking up passengers. Personally, the redate didn't cause problems and the change of destination was a bonus too. I've never been to Oban behind a loco before, whereas I used to work the Fort William sleeper so relished this opportunity greatly.
Nice weather, especially once we got into Scotland, and a storming performance all round from RSG made it a realy enjoyable day. The icing on the cake being officially allowed to go in the front coach on the northbound trip which meant we got a bit camera snappy :-)
Part 3 covers the rest of my daylight footage of the trip from Dalmally out to Oban northbound, and taking us down to Craigendoran Junction in the afternoon
Thanks to all involved for a really fantastic day. Roll on the October events (+ Alcans!)
