A visit to Glenstal Abbey in County Limerick
This is a video I took when I stayed a night in the Glenstal Abbey guesthouse. Glenstal Abbey is a Benedictine Monastery located outside the village of Murroe in the east of County Limerick. Glenstal Abbey was originally the residence of the Barringtons before the arrival of the Benedictine monks who have been in Glenstal since 1927

Benedictines: Glenstal Abbey (Ireland) • Abbeys and Monasteries
The most remarkable aspect of Glenstal Abbey, situated in the Catholic South of Ireland, is its highly recommended boardingschool. Glenstal abbey is the first refounded abbey of Benedictines in Ireland, and still the only one. The surroundings of the abbey were already inhabited 3000 years before Chrits. The culture of their Celtic ancestors is still kept alive by the monks; Celtic influence can be recognized in their handcraft and the Celtic language, Gealic.
