Myfanwy
Performed by the Llanddulas Male Voice Choir at Gloddaeth United Church, Chapel Street, Llandudno, North wales.
Myfanwy (a woman's name derived from annwyl, 'beloved') is a popular Welsh song, composed by Joseph Parry and first published in 1875. Parry wrote the music to lyrics written by Richard Davies ('Mynyddog'; 1833--77). Some sources say it was written with Parry's childhood sweetheart, Myfanwy Llywellyn, in mind, although the lyrics were probably inspired by the 14th-century love-story of Myfanwy Fychan of Castell Dinas Brân, Llangollen and the poet Hywel ab Einion. That story was also the subject of the popular poem, 'Myfanwy Fychan' (1858), by John Ceiriog Hughes (1832--87).
The song is still a favourite with Welsh male voice choirs. A version has been performed by John Cale. It is also on O Fortuna, the second album from Rhydian, where he duets with fellow Welsh baritone Bryn Terfel. It is also a bonus track, sung unaccompanied, on the self-titled album by John Owen Jones. The song also is sung in the Welsh language biopic Hedd Wyn.
Calon Lan
Performed by Llanddulas Male Voice Choir at Gloddaeth United Church, Chapel Street, Llandudno, North wales.
Calon Lân is a Welsh song, the words of which were written in the 19th century by Daniel James (23 January 1848 - 11 March 1920) to a tune by John Hughes (1872--1914). The song is a hymn, but it has become a song more associated with Welsh rugby union, being sung before almost every Test match involving the Welsh national team.
In 2007 the song was one of the traditional Welsh songs to make it to the screen in an S4C series Codi Canu, as an attempt is made to bring traditional four-part harmony choral singing back to the Welsh rugby terraces.
Calon Lân is unusual among the most popular Welsh traditional songs in that the English version of the words is virtually never sung (unlike, for example, Cwm Rhondda), but the tune does appear, for example, in the current (British) Methodist hymn book, Hymns & Psalms, set to the lyrics of I will Sing the Wondrous Story by P. P. Bliss.

The Restless Venture are THE BAND to keep an eye out for on the live scene in the UK and USA, with an ever increasing following and a track record of creating great music that entertains many music fans.
The fourth Phabstock charity Bank Holiday music festival on the prom at Llandudno was blessed by good weather and some outstanding musicians as it extended its programme to cover all three days.
Funded by local business and grants from the town council and the county council, the event was also supported by community organizations, notably Ty Llewellyn, Crest Cooperative and Gloddaeth United Church.
The event is organised by 'tvwales.co.uk', founded by Glyn Hughes, supported by filmmaker Rob Davies ( and this year was, supporting two local charities, PHAB who work with the disabled in the community and Hope Restored based at Gloddaeth United Church, who provide services for the homeless.
'tvwales.co.uk' fundraiser and event controller 'Roger Boon' said: There were 28 acts this year and it was the strongest programme we have put on so far. All the acts were well received and it is impossible to pick out the best. Of the bands however, there was no doubt that the 'Restless Venture' from Manchester, 'Midnight Runaway' from Shrewsbury and eighties band 'Flux' from Holyhead who closed the festival, were massively appreciated by the crowd as were 'Chicas' who garnered support from every age group.
There was something for everyone in a very varied programme including local choir Singsation from Abergele and even a service on the prom on the Sunday led by the youth band from local church, Emmanuel. One of the purposes of 'tvwales.co.uk' is to encourage the development of young talent and there were outstanding debuts from Sam 'Lyon' 'Joe Berry' 'Hannah Williams' as well as 11-year-old 'Jac Ellis Roberts' from Anglesey, by far the youngest ever artist to play at Phabstock.
The festival was formally opened by Llandudno mayor Carol Marubbi and not so formally by Town Cryer, Billy Baxter.
After the final gig the mayor closed the festival and the leaders of the two charities, Brenda Fogg of Hope Restored and Val Conway of Phab, made presentations to Roger Boon and Glyn Hughes for the work they put in to mounting the festival.
Roger and Glyn said: We would like to thank all the bands and artists who performed for free for such good causes.
The event raised over £3k for the two charities.
Founder of PHAB, Val Con-way, said: Phabstock is so well organized and just gets better and better each year. It was heart-warming to see so many volunteers helping and artists prepared to travel long distances to perform for free.

How Great Thou Art
Performed by the Llanddulas Male Voice Choir at Gloddaeth United Church, Chapel Street, Llandudno, North Wales.
How Great Thou Art is a Christian hymn based on a Swedish poem written by Carl Gustav Boberg (1859--1940) in Sweden in 1885. The melody is a Swedish folk song. It was translated into English by British missionary Stuart K. Hine, who also added two original verses of his own composition. It was popularized by George Beverly Shea and Cliff Barrows during the Billy Graham crusades. It was voted the United Kingdom's favourite hymn by BBC's Songs of Praise. How Great Thou Art was ranked second (after Amazing Grace) on a list of the favorite hymns of all time in a survey by Today's Christian magazine in 2001.

Suo Gan (Empire of the Sun)
Performed by Llanddulas Male Voice Choir at Gloddaeth United Church, Chapel Street, Llandudno, North Wales.
Suo Gân (Welsh pronunciation: [sɨɔ ɡɑːn]) is a traditional Welsh lullaby written by an anonymous composer.
It was first recorded in print around 1800. The lyrics were notably captured by the Welsh folklorist Robert Bryan (1858--1920).
The song's title simply means lullaby (suo = lull; cân = song).
