4K グラバー園 長崎市 Glover Garden Nagasaki Kyushu JAPAN
Glover Garden グラバー園 is a park in Nagasaki, Japan built for Thomas Blake Glover, a Scottish merchant who contributed to the modernization of Japan in shipbuilding, coal mining, and other fields. In it stands the Glover Residence, the oldest Western style house surviving in Japan and Nagasaki's foremost tourist attraction.
It is located on the Minamiyamate hillside overlooking Nagasaki harbor. It was built by Hidenoshin Koyama of Amakusa island and completed in 1863. It has been designated as an Important Cultural Asset. As the house and its surroundings are reminiscent of Puccini's opera, it is also known as the Madame Butterfly House. Statues of Puccini and diva Miura Tamaki, famed for her role as Cio-Cio-san, stand in the park near the house. This house was also the venue of Glover's meetings with rebel samurai particularly from the Chōshū and Satsuma domains.
Commanding a stunning view of Nagasaki Harbour from its position on top of the hill of Minami-Yamate, this romantic area retains the atmosphere of a foreign settlement.

Nagasaki Highlight - Glover Garden Tour (4K)
The beautiful Glover Garden was the highlight of our Asia cruise stop in Nagasaki, Japan. Beautiful flowers, including cherry blossoms, tulips and Wisteria Floribunda, were abundant on the grounds of the former home of Thomas Glover. Glover Garden park is perched on a hill with a great view of the Nagasaki skyline and the cruise terminal where we walked from. We definitely recommend visiting this attraction when you are in Nagasaki! As a bonus, we some some clips of us getting back to the cruise terminal, and passing by other attractions such as Oura Cathedral & Inori-No-Oka Picture Book Museum.
This was from our 14 day Asia cruise in 2018 aboard the Majestic Princess cruise ship.

Glover Garden, Nagasaki - グラバー園 - Japan As It Truly Is
Glover Garden is a relocation of several western historical buildings from Japan's opening to the West from the late 19th & early 20th centuries. It focuses on Thomas Glover, a Scottish merchant who sold weapons and ships to the anti-shogunate clans and played an important role in the modernization of Japan (not to mention the forerunner brewery to what is now Kirin Beer). The relocation was done in 1974 from buildings all over Nagasaki City, so it's not like everything was there from the beginning. But you can see a 19th century home and lifestyle as well as a grand view of Nagasaki from the hillside. Over 2 million people visit the place annually and aside from the Peace Park, is one of the most visited places in Nagasaki.

Walking trip around Glover Garden in Nagasaki, Japan.
Glover Garden is an open air museum in Nagasaki that exhibits mansions of several of the city's former foreign residents and related buildings. It is located on the hill where Western merchants settled down after the end of Japan's era of seclusion in the second half of the 19th century.
The main attraction of the garden is the Former Glover House, the oldest Western-style wooden building in Japan. Thomas Glover (1838-1911) was a Scottish merchant who moved to Nagasaki after the opening of its port to foreign trade in 1859. He later assisted some of the revolutionaries who would eventually overthrow the Tokugawa Shogunate in the Meiji Restoration. Active in various industries, including shipbuilding and mining, Glover features prominently in the early history of Japan's industrialisation. (japan-guide.com)

Nagasaki, Japan: The Glover Garden Open Air Museum
This video is longer than my usual ones. You may want to skim through but the Open Air Museum was not only very beautiful but interesting. Foreign diplomats and traders settled on this hill when Japan opened its doors to the world after the Meiji restoration in the mid-19th century.
Only three mansions here are original, the rest were moved from other locations. Don't miss Thomas Glover's favorite walking stick with the head of a dog in the video and the exquisite gardens with its many hydrangeas. So beautiful...

Nagasaki Cruise Port Terminal Tour, Information & Walk to Glover Gardens (4K)
See what it is like in the Nagasaki International Cruise Ship Terminal at Matsugae-Pier Japan. We were at the Nagasaki cruise port as part of our 14 Day Asia cruise on the Majestic Princess (盛世公主号). This port was the most time-consuming and complicated in terms of going through immigration/customs. As you can see in the video, you need to complete a visitor's card and a customs card prior to arrival. Like some of the other ports on this cruise, even if you are not getting off the ship, you are required to go into the terminal building and pass immigration by 10:30 AM. The cruise ship company takes care of the passport portion for guests, but you are still required to submit your fingerprint and go through scanners. The Japanese certain is taking security very seriously, which is good, but as a guest you should be expected for a 30+ minute wait. The money changing station at inside the cruise terminal is very busy as well- so you can save time if you had Japanese yen exchanged ahead of time, e.g. in a previous port.
The great thing about the Nagasaki port is that there is free wi-fi, plus plenty of information for tourists inside. You can find maps, info on trams, and even a self-guided walking tour. We had done research on Nagasaki and decided to walk to the beautiful from port. It only took about 15 minutes, though you do have to go uphill and walk up stairs. Once there, the views of the surroundings are spectacular, as are the beautiful flowers at the garden.
Also there were plenty of shopping opportunities right inside and outside the Nagasaki cruise ship terminal building with plenty of local Japanese vendors selling goods such as silk scarfs, silk socks, snacks, traditional attire, dolls, art and more.
This was part of our March 2018 Asia Cruise vlog on the Princess Cruises Majestic Princess ship. Please feel free to comment or ask any questions and we'd be happy to answer!

Как и обещал, выкладываю запись нашего посещения Сада Гловера. Это посещение состоялось наверное только через месяц после нашей первой попытки. Это нарушает хронологический порядок съемки, но зато сохраняет целостность событий.
