INSIDE Singapore with Jamie Yeo | May 2015
You're watching INSIDER TV - the insider's guide to the world's most exciting cities!
SUBSCRIBE HERE:
Here's your essential Singapore Travel Guide this May 2015 - our host Jamie Yeo tours us around the best places to eat, drink, shop, and play in Singapore.
There are many areas of historic importance around Singapore but none is so important to the island's recent history as the Singapore River. As a port city, Singapore's now thriving economy was founded on the banks of the Singapore River back in the 19th century. See more of the exciting things this area has to offer:
Singapore’s MRT (mass rapid transit) system is probably the fastest way to zip around the city. The extensive rail network means that most of Singapore’s key attractions are within walking distance from an MRT station. You can take taxis if you want to go to places not accessible by the bus or MRT. Lastly, the bus system has an extensive network of routes covering most places in Singapore and is the most economical way to get around, as well as being one of the most scenic.
While in Singapore, make sure you also check out these places and attractions:
* Lau Pa Sat:
Singapore is known for many food hawker centres but nothing is more impressive than the gastronomic haven called Lau Pa Sat. This place is as rich in architecture and history as it is in cuisine. Order the classic Singapore chicken rice, Chili Crab, and Turkish Wraps plus wash it down with cold drinks available at Quay 18.
* Marina Bay Segway Tours:
Explore the beautiful beaches of Sentosa while gliding effortlessly on the Segway, a scenic 30-minute ride along Siloso or Palawan beach.
* Clarke Quay:
Set amidst a backdrop of old shophouses, you can savour the many delights of Chinese, Italian, Mediterranean and local cuisine. When the sun goes down, you don't have to look far to discover some of the city's trendiest nightspots.
* IMM - Westcube - Westgate Malls:
When in Singapore, don't miss the chance to shop at the unique IMM, JCube, and Westgate malls! Each offers something new and exciting and are all readily accessible by MRT or by using the free shuttle bus linking them.
InsiderTV brings you the latest happenings in Singapore in the month of May 2015 and beyond! Don't miss these events this month:
* SINGAPORE STRIPPED! (R18) A Comedy Roast of The Lion City — 1 April - 20 June
* Shakespeare in the Park - The Tempest — 29 April - 24 May

Running Challenge - Singapore run - go hard or go home- Nike, Adidas, Reebok - Marina Bay Sands
After almost two weeks without running because of sightseeing every day I decided to wake up at 6 am and go for a quick run in Singapore. Our hotel was on Riverview, so track was obvious... from the hotel to Marina Bay Sands and back to Sheraton. I recommend running in Singapore very early, because of no people in the city and the temperature. Singapore 20170311

Jewel Changi Airport 2019 Walking Tour - Singapore
Jewel Changi Airport (also known as Jewel or Jewel Changi) is a nature-themed entertainment and retail complex on the landside of Changi Airport, Singapore. Linked to three of its passenger terminals, the centrepiece is the world's tallest indoor waterfall, named the Rain Vortex, which is surrounded by a terraced forest setting.[4]
Jewel includes gardens, attractions, a hotel, aviation facilities and more than 300 retail and dining facilities. It covers a total gross floor area of 135,700 m2, spanning 10 storeys – five above-ground and five basement levels.[5] Its attractions also include the Shiseido Forest Valley, an indoor garden spanning five storeys, the Canopy Park at the topmost level, featuring more gardens and leisure facilities.[6]
Jewel is located in Changi, at the eastern end of Singapore, approximately 20 kilometres northeast from Singapore's Downtown Core.[7]

Gardens By The Bay Singapore. Exploring Breath-taking Gardens in this Tips For Travellers Tour
In this video I take you on a walk through and tour of the amazing Singapore Gardens By The Bay. The Gardens by the Bay is part of an ambitious vision to make Singapore a city in a garden. Sprawling over 250 acres of reclaimed land behind the the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel, it’s a modern day wonder.
The largest of the 3 gardens is 130-acre Bay South Garden which is the focus of this video. It has three of the more famous aspects of the gardens: Supertrees and Walkway, Cloud Forest and Flower Dome.
First are the Supertrees and the OCBC Skywalk way.
The Supertrees are vast structures of between 82 and 160 feet high. As well as looking impressive, they are fundamental to the running of and for making the Gardens environmentally sound and sustainable. They harness solar energy to generate lighting and power, collect rainwater to use for watering and also help run the conservatories calling systems.
The OCBC Skyway is an elevated walkway 22 metres above the ground, running between two of the larger Supertrees. From up there you get stunning views across the gardens, and of the Singapore skyline. There is a fee for going up on the walkway which can be reached by elevator or by stairs. I strongly recommend heading up onto the Skyway. The view and experience is quite remarkable. At night, the Supertrees have a light and music show called the OCBC Garden Rhapsody at 7:45 and 8:45 pm.
From here, head past the flower clock to the two column-less and cooled glass conservatories: the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. Each are over 2.5 acres in size.
My definite favourite is the Cloud Forest, which impressed me enormously. You enter at the towering 138-foot high mountain with a 115-foot Waterfall - the tallest indoor one in the world. The cooled conservatory has over 60,000 plants and numerous zones reflecting flora and fauna from tropical mountain regions around the world. After winding your way around the lower level gardens, full of hidden ponds and wooden artefacts and artworks, you then travel up seven stories to the top by elevator. It’s then time to walk around and down the mountain first on the Cloud and then the Treetop walkways. As you wind your way around you can view the plants from all angles and different heights, while also looking across at the various zones like the Lost World and Secret Garden - and of course the skyline of Singapore outside. The whole time I was in here I was amazed at the ingenuity and cleverness of this attraction. Its truly stunning and unique.
Next door is the Flower Dome. Full of gorgeous plants and blooms, it is a colourful feast for the eyes. Inside it feels vast, and it was listed in The Guinness World Records in 2015 as the World’s Largest Glass Greenhouse. There are nine different garden zones. These are the Australian, South American, South African, Californian and Mediterranean gardens, a Baobab tree and succulent garden and finallythe Flower Field. This hosts different themed flower exhibits across the year.
Rainwater is collected from the surface of both of these huge conservatories which in circulated in the cooling system connected to the Supertrees.
The Gardens by The Bay should be at the top of your things to do in Singapore. It is a beautiful and remarkable place. That’s why over 6 million people a year visit it already.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS & FEEDBACK
I'm really happy with this DVD excursion. Sometimes I want a change of pace. Yes, I love mountain vistas and river gorges, but sometimes I long for the energy of an urban walk, where I can see a beautiful city skyline, and people walking by. The occasional beautiful girl doesn't hurt, either. This Singapore Skyline walk makes me feel as if I'm vacationing! The pace is good for a brisk walk on the treadmill, or a leisurely ride on your spin bike, along the boardwalks and boulevards of beautiful Singapore. It's a great workout and a lot cheaper than a plane ticket to this exotic locale. My compliments to Virtual Walks for offering energetic urban walks along with their nature-walk DVDs; it's a great change of pace, and much more social for those days when you want a little company on your workout.
