#4a, Tyler's Life - St. Anne, Martinique: Part 1
St. Anne, Martinique is one of our favorite anchorages in the entire Eastern Caribbean! In my next 2 videos, I will show you why. In this first video, I will take you for a walk on the beautiful beach, take you snorkeling on the reef that protects the anchorage and then I go skurfing at sunset. I hope you enjoy this video and feel like you are here at St. Anne Martinique with us.
Hi, I'm Tyler, and I live on s/v Sail Pending with my Mom and Dad. We've sailed down the ICW and through the Eastern Caribbean Island chain and now we are planning to cruise through the Western Caribbean and beyond.
Over the years my parents have taught me our boat systems and now I am the one who runs the boat. (With their supervision of course). Running a boat and knowing the systems is pretty straight forward to me, because this is how I have grown up.
My parents were both commercial pilots and flight instructors and they say that you don't really understand systems and maneuvers until you are able to use words to explain them to others. So, now they want me to be able to teach others about our systems and operations pertaining to running a boat.
That is why I am making these videos. It's part of my boat schooling curriculum.
I hope you enjoy my videos and subscribe to our family's YouTube channel to see all of our cruising adventures.

Martinique Paradise Volcanic Flower Island
Greetings from Martinique! Awesome. 3 Balconies, 2 with the sound of the sea and one with the sound of birds and crickets etc. hotel and duplex overlooking the sea and Diamant Rock in the South. After walking through the town and along pier and beach went for a swim in the pool overlooking Caribbean Sea and the French girls my nephew’s age were unbelievably nice spoke English and had a car and we went snorkeling with turtles at Les Anses-d’Arlet. Beautiful drive. On the way back stopped at a couple of sights. So thankful! My French has come along way as hardly anyone speaks English. Such beautiful passionate, fashionable and they walk with grace and dignity too.
Little France...Fort de France has the Library They brought brick by brick from France. Also Le Pierre has a replica of the Sacacre.
The Jarden So green and lush in the north. Volcanic in origin, Martinique is a mountainous stunner crowned by the still-smoldering Mont Pelée. We drove by it and had a delicious lunch near the top.
The Gourmet cuisine is excellent at my resort and the few lunches I ate out. I was on a coach to Robert to catch a catamaran to 3 tiny islands ???? with snorkeling, iguanas, dancing on the boat, rum baptizm, cooking lesson lunch, snacks and rum drinks ????! What fun.
Again this time an American couple happened to be going to Les Anses-D’Arlet to snorkel, swim with the turtles, go to black sand beach and rent a kayak to go to the bad cave and then on in the opposite direction through Marin to Les Salines Beach and kindly invited me to join them. Later we watch the sunset over Diamant Rock from the pool/sea. Then we had a delicious dinner at my resort. Big Thank you.

3rd Most Beautiful Bay by Sailing JAEKA, week 43
To explore another island in Guadeloupe group we sailed over to Les Saintes - an island of goats. Yes, every single place we visited, goats were there. We have stayed down there for 4 days and saw sun and blue sky only for a half day. It was enough to see how 3rd most beautiful bay in the world looks like. Let's get together down there in Les Saintes.
We are an international couple - Jack (from France), Kateryna (from Ukraine). We have been crossing this wonderful life together since 10 years. Finally (after many years of dreaming) we are living a true life. We have a plan to sail across all oceans (almost), and will be happy to share this adventurous lifestyle with you!

2. Various of demonstrators chanting
3. SOUNDBITE (French) Denis, demonstrating in support of striking workers in Guadeloupe and Martinique:
To have waited so long before intervening. That is the main problem. It is a lack of respect, it is contempt, that (French President ) Mr Sarkozy and his government have towards the French overseas people. That is what we feel.
4. Demonstrators marching
5. Close up banner reading 200 Euros, here as well, yes we can
6. Various of demonstrators with banners, marching and chanting slogans
7. SOUNDBITE (French) Claude, demonstrating in support of striking workers in Guadeloupe and Martinique:
I support them no matter what. I am not at all against it (the strike in Guadeloupe) because it is true, life is very expensive there and really we have to put an end to that.
8. Various of demonstration
STORYLINE:
Thousands of people took to the streets of Paris on Saturday for a march in support of striking workers on France's Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique.
The ongoing strike on Guadeloupe is against the high cost of living and low wages on the island, and it has brought the island to a standstill.
It has been a month since the strike began in an attempt to force the French government and local business leaders to help ease spiralling living costs on the islands.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy made a televised appeal on Thursday night for an end to the violence on Guadeloupe, and announced a 730 million US dollar financial package to help development in France's overseas regions.
However, hours of negotiations between strikers, business leaders and French government representatives in Guadeloupe's largest city, Pointe-a-Pitre, ended after sunset on Friday without an agreement over the wage rise.
Strike leaders said they refused an offer to raise the monthly minimum wage by around 50 euros (63 US dollars), sticking by demands for a 200 euro (256 US dollar) raise for low-paid workers, who now make roughly 1,130 US dollars (880 euros) a month.
Joblessness and poverty lie just beyond the island's white-sand beaches, groves of palm trees and all-inclusive tourist resorts.
Prices are often much higher than on mainland France.
Protests have also spread to the neighbouring island of Martinique.
