????Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni offered reassurances Monday that his country is a safe place to visit after security teams rescued an American woman and her driver who had been kidnapped by gunmen in a national park.
Four unidentified gunmen kidnapped Kimberly Sue Endicott, 56, and her driver, Jean-Paul Mirenge, near a wilderness camp inside Queen Elizabeth National Park last week. An elderly couple who were robbed but not taken alerted a park official to the abduction.

Tourists traveling to Uganda will now apply for a Visa online and pick it up on arrival. A new e-visa service for travelers to the East African country will be introduced next month and is expected to increase the number of tourists flow in to the country. Leon Ssenyange reports.
Man accidentally shot by relative on hospital visit
Prominent businessman Ali Abdu Jabar has been shot dead this morning at Kampala Independent hospital. Jabar was accidentally shot dead by a cousin to his wife Zaina Karama in a freak accident after he forgot to unload bullets from his pistol.

Engineers express concern over the state of Kampala's drainage
Engineers have expressed concern over the growing pressure on the city’s sewerage system caused by the rapid rise in the city’s population growth today estimated at over 3 million people.
Eng Michael Daka the chairman of the Uganda association of consulting engineers says this state of affairs may take long for city managers to turn around considering the fact that city still depends on a fifty year old sewage infrastructure.

Air Uganda makes debut flight

Somalia, July 11 -- A new foreign airline is now flying to Somalia. This week Air Uganda made its debut flight from Kampala to Mogadishu. This makes it the second international carrier to land there since the airport resumed operations last year.

In 2010, Kampala City was in desperate need of repair. Many city roads were riddled with potholes, most of the street lights were not working, and local government corruption interfered with the resources necessary to improve the city’s infrastructure and delivery of services to its citizens.
With the support of the Kampala Institution Infrastructure Development Project (KIIDP), the Kampala City Council was able to tackle those challenges and lay the foundation for a resilient, sustainable and organized city.
IMF’s economic outlook for Uganda
The International Monetary Fund projected Uganda’s economy to grow to 6.3 per cent in the fiscal year 2019/2020 from 6.1 per cent the previous fiscal year due to the continued expansion in manufacturing and construction sector. Joining CNBC Africa is Mira Clara, IMF Resident Representative for Uganda.
New passport process frustrates applicants
Scores of people seeking new passports at the Ministry of Internal Affairs headquarters have expressed disappointment at the news of the suspension of the issuance of travel documents.
This followed the launch of the East African Passport by the internal affairs ministry, yesterday.
The new East African Passport has raised many questions especially the legal framework under which it is being created.

Police arrest car owner after four are shot dead in Mutundwe
Police in Kampala are holding the owner of the car that was used by people thought to be robbers and who were eventually shot dead. The incident that security officers called a foiled robbery happened in Mutundwe Kampala on Tuesday evening. Police Spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan Area Patrick Onyango said Wycliff Ssesanga is being interrogated at Natete Police Station to establish if he had links with the robbery.

Buhinga stadium construction works expected to go on for two years

Wasswa Bbosa’s charges have been forced to play away from their adoptive home since the second half of last season’s Uganda Premier League.
