Godzilla Seen Breathing Fire on Cape Shiosezaki, Akita Prefecture | Nippon.com: Japan in Video

The rocky coastline of Cape Shiosezaki faces the Sea of Japan on the south side of the Oga Peninsula in Akita Prefecture. Definitely and the most distinctive feature of this coastline is “Godzilla Rock” (Gojira iwa), so named in 1995 because of its striking resemblance to the cinematic monster. The shore is full of rocks deposited by an erupting volcano and weathered by the wind waves over the ages. There are so many, in fact, that the Godzilla Rock can be hard to find during the day. But at sunset the silhouette of the monster stands out clearly against the western sky. And in October, when the sun sets by the outcropping, a trail of glowing clouds can make it look like Godzilla is blowing flames from his mouth—a great photo opportunity for visitors. Other nearby formations include “Godzilla’s Tail” and “Gamera Rock.” The area is also dotted with spots for playing on the rocky waterfront, making it a popular destination for families with children.

The Oga Peninsula (男鹿半島 Oga hantoh) is a rugged peninsula which projects west into the Sea of Japan from the coast of Akita in northern Honshuh, the main island of Japan. Oga Peninsula is famous for the traditional festival of Namahage (Deities).

道の駅おが から右回りに
ゴジラ岩→男鹿水族館ＧＡＯ→入道埼灯台と進みます。

途中の駐車場では、海岸を一望できたり、
ババヘラアイスのパラソルがあったり・・・
また車中泊が出来そうな眺望の良い駐車場があったりと

日本海の海を眺めることが出来ます。
釣りをするスポットもありそうです。
ご当地グルメを堪能するには、入道埼灯台がおすすめです。

This time, we drive the Oga Peninsula in Akita Prefecture at double speed.
Clockwise from Oga Road Station
Go with Godzilla Rock → Oga Aquarium GAO → Irisakizaki Lighthouse.

In the parking lot on the way, you can overlook the coast,
There are parasols of Babahera ice ...
In addition, there is a parking lot with a good view that you can stay in the car
You can see the sea of the Japan Sea.
There seems to be a spot to go fishing.
To enjoy local gourmet, I recommend the Irisaki Lighthouse.
