Encounter on the Gojo Bridge [Time A Scene]
It was in 1170 approximately. A ferocious monk named Musashibo Benkei was blessed with strong big constitution since childhood. His dearest wish was to get in fights one thousand swords in the capital, Kyoto.
Benkei was walking down the road, attacking the warriors who were passing by and soon collected 999 swords. When he was walking for the last sword, a young man was passing by, playing a flute, coming across the Gojo Bridge. It was a young noble son of Minamoto clan, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, whose child name was Ushiwakamaru.
Ushiwakamaru was holding a magnificent sword. Benkei showed great interest, told him to give him the sword, then started to fight but...

Revenge of the Psychotronic Man - I Know a Cracking Owl Sanctuary
???? About Me ????
My name is Dan and I live in Japan. Smash the two words together and you end up with JaDan. I started the JaDan - Dan in Japan channel when I moved to Japan in 2016. I am a 30 something Yorkshire lad who was born and raised in Sheffield, which is deep in the heart of the UK. I moved to Japan in April 2016 to pursue a new career teaching English in a far off land. I am what some people would consider a nerd as I have a love for gaming, comic books and technology but I also love photography, sightseeing, meeting new people, experiencing new cultures and punk music.
Nagoya's Mechanical Doll - Hashi Benkei
These mechanical puppet dolls are called 'karakuri ningyo'. Many traditional karakuri ningyo dolls were mounted on the top of large festival floats called 'dashi'. These were operated by a clockwork mechanism that allowed them to perform a variety of motions, much to the delight of festival audiences. These movements of the dolls' arms and legs were produced by fascinating assemblies of wooden cogs - Written on the base of the display.
This display performs three times a day in Nagoya and is called Hashi Benkei. It represents a dance from 1912 which portrays the story of Ushiwakamaru who faces the long sword wielding Benkei at the Gojô Bridge in Kyôto.

Shinkansen - Nagoya
Kyoto to Tokyo
Tokaido Shinkansen
N700 series, Nozomi 308, South side
These ~30 minutes cover the entirety of the Shinkansen route through the Noubi Plain. The main city here is Nagoya. Video starts in Tarui and ends in Toyohashi.
Video taken with a LG G4.
Video starts at ~9:26AM.
Video ends abruptly due to a then-unknown limiter on filesize to 4GB.
If you would like to follow along on a map, these are the timestamps of landmarks as they appear in approximately center-frame, as reported by Google Maps:
00:13 - five dormitories/apartments of the Nabtesco Gifu Plant
01:03 - Daiya River to the right, Tokai Loop Expressway to the left
02:35 - Ibi River
03:25 - Nagara River
03:40 - Gifu-Hashima Station
04:37 - Kiso River
06:08 - Inazawa City Baseball Field
06:35 - 丸杉 Iron Works

08:20 - Announcement that Nagoya station is coming up. Presumably this is when deceleration starts.
08:34 - Shin River
09:10 - Shonai River
11:45 - Nagoya Station, Arrive
13:39 - Nagoya Station, Depart. It is not clear to me when acceleration ends.
14:45 - Sasashima-Raibu Station
17:15 - Yamasaki River
17:49 - Yamasaki River

18:52 - Odaka Station
19:20 - Minami-Odaka Station
20:33 - 大樹大府 Golf Club
20:49 - Sakai River
21:00 - Azuma River
22:28 - Kinuura Toyota Road
23:08 - Mikawa-Anjo Station
25:00 - Yahagi River
25:44 - Route 43
26:10 - Parking NE of DENSO Nishio Plant
26:45 - Madokanogo Nursing Home
27:18 - DENSO KOTA Manufacturing Plant
29:15 - Koyama Park
29:55 - Lagunasia Ferris Wheel
30:49 - bridge to the Mikawimoto Marina
33:20 - ends briefly after passing Toyohashi Station
At regular intervals the landscape is blocked out by a shinkansen passing in the opposite direction. This usually occurs for slightly less than 3 seconds at a time, at:
03:35
07:46
09:19
13:39
14:31
15:31
17:26
21:03
23:17
24:41
26:15
27:21
29:57
From the 3s duration, and the maximum/cruising speed of shinkansens at 320km/h, we can determine their length:
| speed in km/h * 2 (both are moving) * h to min * min to s * 3 seconds * km to m
| 320*2/60/60*3*1000
| = 533m
Since the time is slightly less than 3s, we would expect something slightly less than 533m. Wikipedia states the maximum length is 16 cars, with each car being 25m, making it 400m.
Kyoto Gion walking in the Geisha Street Hanamikoji 京都祇園甲部 花見小道を歩く JE
What is Hanamikoji Street
Old teashops line the street and Maiko and Geisha walk the streets gracefully. When thinking of Kyoto, the famous Gion red-light district comes to mind. The main street of Gion is Hanamikoji Street. It street has a nostalgic feel, as if it was right out of an old sepia colored photograph.
Hanamikoji Street runs north to south through the north area of Higashiyama-ku district. To the north is Sanjyo-dori Street and to the south is Kennin-ji Temple and is 1.4 km in length. Shijyo-dori Street on the north side has contemporary entertainment such as bars and pubs, the south area is more of a traditional red-light district. What was originally the main approach to the Kennin-ji Temple turned into a street lined with teashops and has been developed into a special area where historical landscape is preserved. Visitors can enjoy a stroll along this street with a traditionally Kyoto feel.
4. Hashi Benkei (Tokiwazu)
Benkei: Sachiko Kushiyama
Ushiwaka: Sanae Fujimoto
(Benkei on the Bridge)
Minamoto Yoshitsune, the legendary hero, was known as Ushiwaka-Maru during his boyhood. Many legends surround Yoshitsune, one of which has it that he was not killed at age thirty as history states, but that he escaped to Mongolia and eventually became the great Genghis Khan himself.
Hashi Benkei, adapted from the Noh drama, recounds the tale of how Benkei, the warrior priest, became Yoshitsune's devoted followers.
When Yoshitsune, then called Ushiwaka-Maru, was in Kyoto on one occasion, he happened to hear that a giant warrior priest had erected a barrier across the Gojo Bridge, forcing those who crossed to give up their swords on the pretext that he was collecting them as a contribution towards rebuilding his temple. Ushiwaka-Maru, although still hardly more than a child, confronted the priest on the Gojo Bridge and effortlessly overcame him. The priest, Benkei, became his devoted servant for life.
Trainz Railfanning Sneak Peek: JNR, JR Freight, Japan Rail, Bus Ride And Tour
This is a sneak peek of a fictional route I'm working on. It takes place in Japan and has several stations and bus stops. You can either ride the trains or drive a bus around and between the cities. You can cross all the railroad crossings and cross a large suspension bridge. We'll use the longest bus route on the map to tour the cities.
