Gol Gumbaz (Kannada: ಗೋಲ ಗುಮ್ಮಟ) is the mausoleum of Mohammed Adil Shah (1627-57) of the Adil Shahi dynasty of Indian sultans, who ruled the Sultanate of Bijapur from 1490 to 1686.

Golgumbaz is the Mausoleum of king Mohammud Adil Shah, Seventh sulthan of Adil shahi Dinesty. constrauction period 1626 to 1656 AD. The name is based on Gola gummata derived from Gol gombhdh , meaning Circular dome. it is most famous for its dome, Which is said to be one of the Second biggest in the World. It is the most important landmark of Bijapur.
Golgumbaz designer Yaqut of Dabul and designed in Deccan - indo- Islamic artitacture. Amazing feature of this dome is that it stands unsupported by pillars. The dome houses the tomb of Mohammad Adil shah and his two wifes , his daughter, His grandson and his Ministress. The exact position of the real tombs is indicated by the wooden canopy kept on the high platform at the middle of ground floor of the hall.
Gol gumbaz have four minors and each minors having seven floors to reach top of the gallrey area. Minor steps total counts-108steps.
The whispering Gallery is the major attraction inside the Structure. Even the fainest whisper inside the stracture reverberates throughout Golgumbaz.you can hear the fainest sound for more than 7 times. inside the Gallery you can find four banches for sitting and experiance the sound comming from inside the wall.
Close to Golgumbaz , you will get to see a Museum , Nagar Khana. This museum exhibits chinese, parcian parchesements, Armoury, Carpets , old coins, Bidiri articals , paintings and etc.

ol Gumbaz is the mausoleum of king Mohammed Adil Shah, Sultan of Bijapur. Construction of the tomb, located in Vijayapura (formerly Bijapur), Karnataka, India, was started in 1626 and completed in 1656. The name is based on Gola gummata derived from Gol Gombadh meaning circular dome.[1] It follows the style of Deccan architecture.
The structure is composed of a cube, 47.5 m (156 ft) on each side, capped by a roof 44 m (144 ft) in external diameter. Eight intersecting arches created by two rotated squares that create interlocking pendentives support the dome. At each of the four corners of the cube, is a dome-capped octagonal tower seven stories high with a staircase inside.[2] The upper floor of each tower opens on to a round gallery which surrounds the dome. Inside the mausoleum hall, is a square podium with steps on each side. In the middle of the podium, a cenotaph slab on the ground marks the actual grave below, the only instance of this practice in the architecture of the Deccan sultanates. In the middle of the north side, a large semi-octagonal bay protrudes out.[2] With an area of 1,700 m2 (18,000 sq ft),[3] the mausoleum has one of the biggest single chamber spaces in the world. Running around the inside of the dome is the whispering gallery where even the softest sound can be heard on the other side of the mausoleum due to the acoustics of the space

There is a museum within the complex. The museum was established during British rule in 1892.

Jod Gumbaz or the twin domed tombs, were constructed in memory of Khan Muhammad and Abdul Razzaq Qadiri, a father and son duo who assisted the Mughal Emperor, Aurangazeb to defeat Sikandar, the young Adil Shahi ruler on the throne.
Situated near Mecca Gate in Bijapur, these tombs are also called Two Sisters. Dating back to the seventeenth century, Jod Gumbaz is also known as Abdul Razak Darga or the Dargah of Abdul Razzaq Qadiri.

Gol Gumbaz, the mausoleum of Muhammad Adil Shah (AD 1626 --56) located in Bijapur, District Bijapur, Karnataka State is an important monument of Indo-Islamic architecture aptly known for its amazing dimensions and unique acoustic features. The construction of this building was completed and the deceased king was interred in this building in 1034 AH (AD 1656) and contains the sepulcher containing the tombs of Muhammad Adil Shah (AD 1626-1656), the seventh Sultan of the Adil Shahi dynasty, his wives and daughters. Soon after his accession to the throne in AD 1626, the Sultan started constructing this edifice for burying his mortal remains. He was buried in the vast vault beneath the floor along with other family members. The exact position of the real tomb is indicated by the wooden canopy kept on the high platform at the middle of the floor of the hall.
The foundation of this mausoleum rests on the bedrock, which has prevented any unequal settlement. Above the basement this building is a huge cube with each sidewall decorated with three arches. The central arch, wider than the side ones, has doorways except on the north, where a semi-octagonal chamber buttresses the wall. At the corners of this great cube are added seven tiered towers octagonal in cross-section. After the death of its builder further decoration of the structure appears to have been given up.
This edifice ranks among the most imposing ones in India for the sheer monumentality of its massive dome and its floor area. The hemispherical masonry dome has an internal diameter of 37.92 m. The thickness of the dome varies from 3.05 m. near the base to 2.74 m. near the top. The floor area of the monument is 1703.56 sq. m.
At a height of 33.22 m from the floor of the hall, projects a 3.25 m wide gallery, all round the inner periphery of the dome. This gallery is called the 'Whispering Gallery', because even the finest whisper or sound made in it is heard from side to side and even a single loud clap is distinctly echoed over ten times.
