Jamestown Gateway to the Mother Lode - FULL VIDEO TOUR (Jamestown, CA)
Very shady place to visit after 5pm, don't travel alone! A lot of drug users and pot heads, be careful! I guess there aren't that many jobs in town!
Jamestown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Tuolumne County, California, United States. The population was 3,433 at the 2010 census, up from 3,017 at the 2000 census. Formerly a California Gold Rush town, Jamestown is now a California Historical Landmark.[2] Jamestown is the home of Railtown 1897 State Historic Park and the Sierra Railway, which operates steam passenger trains.

Tuolumne County, the Sierra Railway and Railtown 1897 SHP -- whose historic shops, Roundhouse and famous Sierra No. 3 locomotive -- have long served as a filming location for the film and television industry with more than 150 movies and TV shows filmed at Railtown 1897 SHP. Commemorated on the “Walk of Fame” are currently 30 productions, including High Noon (1952), Petticoat Junction (1963), Back to the Future III (1990), Lassie (1954), Little House on the Prairie (1974), My Little Chickadee (1940), Unforgiven (1992) and even a medallion dedicated to Huell Howser.

Jamestown California
Wife wanted a get-a-way trip for just the two of us, so~ she booked a hotel in Jamestown. I have to say this place is beautiful. There is some b-roll of the town at around 7 minutes in the video. My first attempt at making my own transitions.

Gold Panning - Jamestown, CA 2015
Summer family vacation up to Gold Country in Central California off the 49 in Jamestown, CA. Had so much fun with our guide, Nick (in the yellow shirt) as he showed us what to look for and how to pan for gold. Even though CA is in a drought and the stream is no longer running, there was still plenty of water to pan and sluice. Plus the added benefit to be able to get our pay dirt from areas that were previously inaccessible! A great family vacay for the entire family! If you'd like to try this I highly recommend Gold Prospecting at Jimtown 1849 Gold Mining Camp, 209.984.GOLD Ask for Nick to be your guide. We did this same adventure 26 years ago and Nick's dad was our guide and Nick helped then too! I give it 5+ stars!!!
Gold Rush California Behind The Scenes
the first video of our glory hole no music just us we explain where the ancient gold can be found
Columbia, CA -- Gold Prospecting lesson
You shift the gold down,
When you pan for the gold
you always leave a bit of sand up in your pan.
And then we're going to do some more dipping.
Shake that gold down,
and then we get the sand out, nice and easy.
And remember to shake it in the dipping part?

Gold Mining California- Panned for Gold and Struck it Big!
In this video, we take a fun journey into central California to try our hand at panning for Gold. We used a company called Gold Prospecting Adventures. We had a fantastic guide named Frank. He was very sweet, patient and a good teacher. He showed us what we needed to do and sure enough, we did find gold at the end of the rainbow. The adventure was fun and the outdoors were the best part. The mining camp we went to was set up as a classic mining camp. This is just another reason we do RV living full time in 2017.

TWO OUNCES OF GOLD FROM 2008 DREDGING IN CALIFORNIA
This is the gold recovered after a month of dredging with a 4 dredge on Lavazolla Creek in California. I wasn't getting rich (& don't work as hard as I used too) but it paid for the trip and my old dog Jake loved every swim and hike. He even treed a bear one morning! It was great living in an old miners cabin surrounded by big pine trees with the sound of the creek nearby with many friendly fellow claim owners who were always looking out for each other. I hope California someday lifts the gold dredging ban, Lavazolla Creek is a beautiful place with a rich mining history and much more gold to be found. Nobody has more respect and love for the area than the gold dredgers and claim owners. We have always played by the Forest Service's rules but now it is all in the past. If we are not alowed to work our claims again not only do the gold miners lose but also the small mining town shops lose revenue. The Fish and Game money for dredge permits is also gone. That money is no longer there to help the state in a time of financial crisis. Whatever happens we had over ten years of great times and good gold on the claim and enjoyed living near the historic town of Downieville.
