❤Taiwan: Ruifang Food Court is a Foodies Dream Come True ???? (Ruifang Taiwan) 瑞芳 九份
We came from Taipei on the train to Ruifang(about 40 mins) to connect to the bus to the mountain tourist town of Juifen. Before catching the bus we decided to see what good food is on offer in this city.
We were delighted to find this incredible food court of fresh local Taiwanese food! The prices were a lot cheaper than in Taipei, and the quality was high off the charts. The food here was so good that as I edit this video I wish I was back there to eat again. A big positive here is that the people here are incredibly friendly and kind-hearted.
I paid for my food, but people would even come over and give me sample of new foods to try. The people here are proud of the food that they have been making here, with some stalls as old as 50 and 60 years old.
Thank you to Ruifang Food Court.
Li Jhang Bo Pork Chop (shop #30) - incredible 36 year old pork chop recipe and amazing vegetable dishes.
A-Po Ancient Store (1963)- fried sticky rice balls and mango ice
Coazaiguo - sticky rice paste snack

Jiufen (Chiufen) village : New Taipei City, Taiwan
Jiufen (Chiufen), is a mountain area in the Ruifang District of New Taipei City near Keelung, Taiwan. This small village is located within hills, and facing the ocean. The name Chiufen comes from a legend where nine families used to live in this village. “Chiufen” literally means “nine pieces” in Mandarin, and this is how the village name came from. Today, Chiufen features an old street that is full of local snack vendors and special accessory stores. In addition, Chinese teahouses in this area are also very popular for both local and foreign tourists. Another feature here is the Gold Ecological Museum. It also features mining tunneling experience, environmental education, and an ecological park. Nearby attractions of the museum include Benshan Fifth Tunnel, Crown Prince Chalet, Geology Park, Gold Temple, Mount Teapot, POW Camp, and Gold Waterfall.

Jiufen (九份) village in Taiwan
The bustling streets of the former Japanese-era gold mining town of Jiufen (九份) during our trip to Rueifang Township, New Taipei City (formerly Taipei County), Taiwan (ROC) on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
Jiufen, also spelled Jioufen or Chiufen (九份), is a mountain area in the Ruifang District of New Taipei City near Keelung.
During the first years of the Qing Dynasty, the village housed nine families, thus the village would request nine portions every time shipments arrived from town. Later Jiufen (nine portions in Chinese) would become the name of the village.

Jinguashi Gold Ecological Park, Taiwan
Who doesn't like gold? Jinguashi Gold Ecological Park is in the area of New Taipei County between the mountains and northeast coastline. Taiwan created a Gold Ecological Park which exhibits: mining culture and properties of gold, Crown Prince Chatlet built in 1922 for a visit by future Emperor Hirohito; shrines; and visitors can tour Benshan Tunnel No. 5, an old mine shaft.
Jingquashi is easily accessible by direct bus or train/bus from Taipei City. Gold was discovered in the area in 1889, creating a 49ers prospecting rush. Six years later, Japan took control of Taiwan, its gold and built mines, creating a boom town. The park opened in 2004 to preserve its gold-mining heritage and natural surroundings of the area.
Excellent translations in Chinese and English make it tourist-friendly but those of you who speak Mandarin and watch this Taiwan series of videos are in luck with many people speaking Mandarin in the background.
Gold Ecological Park (黃金博物園區)
Jinguashi (金瓜石), located in the Ruifang District of New Taipei City, is famous for its gold and copper mines. Situated between the mountains and the coastline, Jinguashi boasts exceptionally beautiful scenery as well as an abundance of historical relics from the erstwhile mining days, making it an ideal tourist spot in northern Taiwan.
The New Taipei City Gold Museum (新北市立黃金博物館), formerly known as the Gold Ecological Park, is a museum of the gold mining industry in Ruifang District, New Taipei, Taiwan.[3][1] The Gold Museum is an open-air museum consisting of several buildings and sites.
The Gold Museum is located in the mountainous town of Jingua Rock (Jinguashi) in Ruifang Township, New Taipei City. With plenty of historical, humanities and natural heritage, the park is the first ecology museum in Taiwan. It lays special emphasis on heritage preservation, sustainable development; old buildings reuse as well as localized operations aimed at promoting regional development. In addition to enjoying the unique geological and natural sights here, visitors of the park will have better understanding of the mining history and community culture of Jingua Rock (Jinguashi). Jingua Rock (Jinguashi) is ready to create a fresh golden legend with the participation of local residents who together will forge the glamour of this land.

JinGuaShi is a town in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, notable for its historic gold and copper mines. It is also known as Kinkaseki in Japanese and was under Taihoku Prefecture during Japanese rule. From 1942–1945, during the final years of World War II, it was used by the Japanese as a prisoner-of-war camp.
Although the minerals have since been depleted, the town still attracts many visitors to its Gold Ecological Park.

Shifen Waterfall Taiwan, Shifen Old Street PLUS Jiufen Lanterns
The best day trip from Taipei is to take the train to Shifen, explore the old town with its famous railway that runs through the middle of the street, visit Shifen Waterfall and then take the bus to Jiufen Old Street - the town that inspired the movie Spirited Away. Think beautiful lanterns, an enormous flowing waterfall and a little bit of magic.
Wondering how to get from Taipei to Shifen Old Street? Take the Keelung-bound train to Ruifang (a ticket cost 78 Taiwanese dollars, or about US $2.50) then transfer to the Pingxi line and ride that all the way to the end. A day pass for this lines costs about US $2.
Blog post about Taipei and Shifen Old Street and Waterfall:

Jiufen, Taiwan - Jiufen Old Street and Tea Houses HD (2017)
Jiufen, also spelled Jioufen or Chiufen (Chinese: 九份; pinyin: Jiǔfèn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Káu-hūn; literally: nine portions), is a mountain area in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan.
During the first years of the Qing Dynasty, the isolated village housed nine families, thus the village would request nine portions every time shipments arrived from town. Later Kau-hun (meaning nine portions in Hokkien) would become the name of the village.
Despite the earliest reference to the production of gold in the island dating to 1430, and multiple rediscoveries by early inhabitants, visiting Japanese, Dutch occupiers, and Koxinga's retainers, awareness of the wealth of Taiwan's gold districts did not develop until the late Qing era. In 1890, workmen discovered flakes of gold while constructing the new Taipeh-Kelung railway, and in 1893 a rich placer district was discovered in the hills of Kau-hun that produced several kilograms[a] of gold a day. In the next year, the promise became greater than ever after a Chinese expert with experience gained in California found gold-bearing quartz in the said hills.
The resulting gold rush hastened the village's development into a town, and reached its peak during the Japanese era. In The Island of Formosa, Past and Present (1903), American diplomat James W. Davidson wrote, Kyu-fun [Kau-hun] is as odd looking a settlement as one could find. [...] never before has the writer seen so many houses in such a small space. Some appear to be partially telescoped in adjoining buildings, other standing above as though unable to force their way to the group, and each structure seems to be making a silent appeal to its neighbor to move over. Water ran in many small streams, directed so as to provide each building with a little rivulet, passing sometimes by the doorway or even over the floor of the building. The claim was owned by the Fujita Company, the first Japanese company to mine quartz in Taiwan and which occasionally made an income of a few thousand yen per month from the Kau-hun gold operations.
Many present features of Jiufen reflect the era under Japanese colonization, with many Japanese inns surviving to this day. During World War II, a POW camp named Kinkaseki was set up in the village, holding Allied soldiers captured in Singapore (including many British) who worked in the nearby gold mines. Gold mining activities declined after World War II, and the mine was shut off in 1971. Jiufen quickly went into decline, and for a while the town was mostly forgotten.
In 1989, Hou Hsiao-hsien's A City of Sadness, the first film to touch on the February 28 Incident, then a taboo subject in Taiwan, became a big hit in the theatres. As a result, Jiufen, where the film was set, revived due to the film's popularity. The nostalgic scenery of Jiufen as seen in the film, as well as appearances in other media, charmed many people into visiting Jiufen. For the beginning of the 1990s, Jiufen experienced a tourist boom that has shaped the town as a tourist attraction. Soon retro-Chinese style cafés, tea houses, and souvenir stores bearing the name City of Sadness were built.
Jiufen also became popular in 2001 due to its resemblance to the downtown in the anime movie Spirited Away. Jiufen soon attracted Japanese tourists. Many Japanese travel magazines and guide books about Taiwan introduced Jiufen. It became a must visit place among Japanese tourists. However, Miyazaki himself denied that Jiufen was the model city of the movie.
At present, Jiufen is a renowned tourist attraction representative of Taiwan. It draws many tourists from Taipei during the weekends.

Gold Waterfall (黃金瀑布), Jinguashi (金瓜石), Taiwan
The Gold Waterfall (黃金瀑布) is seen during our trip to Jinguashi (金瓜石) and Jiufen (九份) in Rueifang Township, New Taipei City (formerly Taipei County), Taiwan (ROC) on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
Located between mountains and the coastline, Jinguashi has attracted more and more tourists every year with its exceptionally stunning scenery.
Jinguashi is an old gold and copper mining town on Taiwan's north-east coast. The Gold Ecological Park (黃金博物園區) preserves some of the area's Japanese era buildings and contains a museum which tells the story of gold mining in the area. You can walk around the park for free but you need to buy a ticket to enter the museum buildings and the Crown Prince Chalet. There is also the Benshan Fifth Tunnel which visitors can enter to gain an experience of what conditions were like for miners.
During Japanese rule, there was a POW camp during World War II, and was referred to by its Japanese name Kinkaseki.
