Durban Beach South Africa
Durban is the busiest container port in Africa and a popular tourist destination with a vibrant beach life. The Golden Mile, developed as a welcoming tourist destination in the 1970s, as well as Durban at large, provide ample tourist attractions, particularly for people on holiday from Gauteng. The Golden Mile was redeveloped late 2009 in time for the 2010 FIFA world cup. It was resurfaced and widened between Ushaka Marine World and Moses Mabhida Stadium. Durban's most popular beaches are also located along the Golden Mile. The city is also a gateway to the national parks and historic sites of Zulu Kingdom and the Drakensberg.

The Golden Mile - Converse in Durban
In November 2016, the Converse Cons South Africa crew hit the road from Johannesburg and went down to Durban for 5 days, with a quick stop at Indigo in the valley of 1000 hills on the way past. Unfortunately, Durban's golden mile that's famed for sun, sand and sea was actually a bit of a washout, as it rained every day. Kyle Trusky, Taylor Sturgess, Suhail Kader and Justus Kotze weren't going to let the rain get in the way though, and they made the most of their time on the east coast.

Why Durban’s Golden Mile is washing away
Why Durban’s Golden Mile is washing away
Durban businessman and paddle-skier Johnny Vassilaros acknowledged that large volumes of sand had been dumped in the vicinity of Vetch’s pier. But apart from smothering marine life in the area‚ he said‚ most of the sand was washed further out to sea and was not replenishing the eroded central beaches. Vassilaros said the Transnet dredger had also dumped sand from several hundred metres offshore‚ which “serves no purpose”. Just before Christmas‚ another attempt was made to pump sand in the vicini...

Durban South Africa Temple Opens Doors to the Public
The public is invited to visit the new Durban South Africa Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The open house begins Wednesday, January 22, and goes through Saturday, February 1, 2020, with a break on Sunday, January 26. The temple is located at 2 Izinga Drive, Izinga Ridge 4021 Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal.
A temple open house gives people of all faiths the opportunity to step inside what Latter-day Saints consider to be a house of the Lord and experience the sacred structure’s beauty. Temples are considered houses of the Lord where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through baptism and other rituals that unite families for eternity. In the temple, Church members learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve their fellow man.
