Valleys full of purple flowers, incense-filled pagodas, spectacular waterfalls and honeymooning couples. Where else could it be but the cool mountain city of Dalat in Vietnam?
Dalat is a romantic mountain city, often dubbed the 'Paris of Vietnam'. It's located in Lam Dong province, in the central highlands of Vietnam, 234km away from Ho Chi Minh City.
This video shows you the highlights of this unmissable hill station and former French colony. If you're travelling through Vietnam, we highly recommend that you spend a few days here to escape the heat of the lowlands and to enjoy the multitude of attractions on offer.
As for specifics, we suggest you go to witness the stunning displays of colourful flowers at the Dalat flower gardens, close to town.
A wonderful hiking trail , which starts about 12km outside Dalat, takes you up to the peak of Lang Biang mountain (2169m ) for stunning panoramic views.
You can also visit several waterfalls in the surrounds such as Datanla Waterfall, located just 5km from Dalat. The most spectacular waterfalls are further afield; Elephant Waterfall & Pongour Falls are two very impressive ones.
The 'Valley Of Love' is not to be missed, especially for those romancing couples who want a fairytale experience. Here you'll find pristine pine forests, a large lake, 'Cinderalla' style carriages pulled by horses, swathes of purple & violet flowers and lots more.
If you fancy it, you can take a cable car ride from Robin Hill to the Truc Lam Monastery and back. The ride spans a distance of 2.3 km between the two points.
Dalat also has a number of beautiful lakes & reservoirs in the surrounds where you can often swim, fish or rent out pedal-boats.
You could spend your time ambling the charming city streets, admiring the catholic churches and french architecture or visit the market to taste the mulberries, succulent strawberries and candied plums. There are also some stunning pagodas to see around town such as the famous Linh Phuoc Pagoda (Glass Pagoda), the Linh Son Pagoda (make sure to check out the pine tree hill behind this) and the Truc Lam Pagoda.
The Bao Dai summer palace is a beautiful property to visit, and it yields an insight into the life of the last reigning Vietnamese emperor (Emperor Bao Dai). It was used as a retreat by the emperor's family.
Lastly, make sure to check out the 'Crazy House', ranked among the world's top 10 craziest buildings. This architectural wonder is actually a hotel known as the 'Hang Nga Guesthouse' and was designed by a very eccentric Vietnamese architect.

* Dambri Waterfall: forming two majestic high and low flows with a height of 40m. To reach the top of the falls, just walk about 138 steps and you'll arrive. In addition, you can also light a campfire, play many games, explore the primeval forest, or sip a cup of coffee to admire, listen to lyrical music when suddenly encountered the summer rain ...
* Datanla Waterfall: consists of 7 layers of rocky mountains, waterfalls that fall down, forming layers of white foam. In addition to watching the majestic beauty of the waterfall, you also have the opportunity to experience the exciting and attractive climbing games.
* Elephant Falls or also known as Lieng Rowoa waterfall. The waterfall is 25 km from Dalat to the Southwest with a height of about 30m and a width of 15m. Behind the waterfall, there is a mysterious cave like the Bat and Wind cave, which are always created for visitors to explore.
* Xuan Huong Lake: a symbol of Dalat located in the city center with a crescent shape. Early in the morning and in the evening, tourists always walk around the lake. Xuan Huong Lake has many services for renting a double bike, duck, enjoying coffee right along the lake.
* Da Nhim Lake: also known as Don Duong Lake, located in Dran town, 40km from Da Lat. The lake has a harmonious natural landscape between the country and the sky, alternating with flower gardens. From here you can explore Ngoan Muc Pass - one of the largest passes in Vietnam.
* Tuyen Lam Lake: there are many small colorful flower gardens surrounded. The lake is 7km from the center surrounded by primeval forest, the air is always fresh and cool.
* Dan Dan Kia (Dankia) - Suoi Vang Lake: 12km from the city center, along the way you will come across poetic scenery like lost in a fairyland.
* Than Tho Lake: located in the North of the city is located on a high hill surrounded by pine forests. To feel the beauty of Than Tho Lake you should walk on the green grass around there are many tourist activities for you to participate.
* Cu Lan Village: a relatively new tourist destination. Coming here, visitors will learn about the culture of the K’ho people who are honest and simple. Cu Lan village is located in Suoi Can village, Lat Village, Lac Duong district. Despite being a new destination, tourists have a good impression and a good review of this tourist destination.
* Langbiang mountain: 12km from Da Lat, located in Lac Duong town, Lac Duong district, Lam Dong province. The mountain has a height of 2,169m above sea level.
* Bao Dai Palace: built from 1933 to 1938. This is where the last king's family lived and worked. All designs of the Palace Bao Dai were designed by French architect and Vietnamese architect Huynh Tan Phat. Therefore, the mansion is influenced by European architecture.
* Tran Le Xuan Palace: including 3 villas (Bach Ngoc, Lam Ngoc and Hong Ngoc), this place was assessed as the first heaven in the South at that time. With an area of 13,000m2 and was started construction in 1958 is located on Lam Son hill, 3km from the city center.
