Discovery Parks - Kalgoorlie on Discover Downunder
Kalgoorlie-Boulder is famous as a gold mining town, and is home to Australia's largest open cut gold mine, The Fimiston Open Pit or better known Super Pit. Visitors can witness the sheer magnitude of this 3.5 kilometre long, 1.5 kilometre wide and 360 metre deep pit from the Super Pit Lookout.
To experience life as a miner, don overalls, boots and a hard hat and head underground at Kalgoorlie-Boulders first gold mine. The Gold Mine of Fame guided tour runs for around 1 and a half hours and leads you down original timber lined mine shafts via ladders and through narrow portals.
The town offers a range of historic attractions including Western Australia's only operating pharmacy museum - the century old Boulder Pharmacy Museum, or learn about the regions involvements in the Boer War, WWI, WWII and the Vietnam War at the Goldfields War Museum and Information Centre.
The Royal Flying Doctor Visitor Centre offers an insight into the valuable service provided to remote communities, while the Karlkurla Bushland Park offers a 4km walking trail and viewing platform of the surrounding bushland.
Further afield, Lake Ballard at Menzies is home to world-renown artist, Anthony Gormley's 51 life-sized metal statues, based on silhouettes of the local people.
For those on a touring holiday, the beautiful coastal town of Esperance, with its white sand beaches and turquoise water, is a 4 and a half drive and offers a Mediterranean-like climate with excellent fishing and swimming.

ACB4402 on 5430 sulphur and seen shunting at Kwinana
here we see the one & only ACB class locomotive number ACB4402 which happens to be the only ACB left now in Western Australia running as all the rest are destined for the hunter valley coalies to help out with ACB4401 & ACB4405 already there working on coal trains. Here firstly we see it passing through North lake rd with the air horn. Credit goes to James triggs. 2. we see it shunting down at Kwinana seen shunting a white bullet down to be loaded 3. ACB4402 returning after dropped of the white bullet with a nice horn from the drivers also credit to James triggs for filming for me while i took his photos
