There is a vast world below the ocean that we have yet to discover in its entirety. While we seem to know nearly everything about the land, the sea still leaves much to be desired. As you go down into the depths of the ocean, you’ll notice a lot will change. For one, you’ll begin to be immersed in darkness. Second, the pressure will change. So, the creatures that have been discovered deep in the oceanic depths are quite different biologically, and they can be quite terrifying to look at. But once we begin to understand them, we can start to learn more about our existence, and even come closer to curing diseases and solving some of the world’s most complex mysteries. However, the sea creatures that have been discovered recently have shown to be just downright creepy and terrifying.
You probably recall the Angler Fish, especially if you’re seen the Disney movie, “Finding Nemo”. If you didn’t realize that this fish is the real deal, get ready for new additions to your nightmares. It wasn’t a work of fiction or some messed up fantasy of some Disney Imagineer. The fish that we see in this video is actually female, and the male is a small weakling, wandering the sea to find a female with her pheromones. The male then attaches itself to the female and becomes a parasite. Every part of the male merges with the female except for the testicles, which the female uses to impregnate herself. Jokes aside, this is quite a fascinating process despite how creepy it is. Similar to the angler fish is the Viper Fish, which has a natural extra attachment that illuminates in the darkness of the sea with the purpose of attracting prey.
The blob fish is a creature that you wonder what God was smoking or shooting up when he decided to create the blob fish. This fish has no bones, and literally just hangs out on the ocean floor and hopes that food comes to its mouth. Whether you want to worship the blob fish for its epic level of laziness or wonder how in the world the species is still in existence with such an apathetic demeanor, it’s still creepy to look at. Then we have the goblin shark, which is pretty much like the underwater version of the alien from the movie “Alien” due to its protruding mouth. The goblin shark has a large snout and needle-like teeth that are sharp and deadly.
For a completely random sea creature, we have the Christmas Tree Worms, which really look like tiny walking fir trees that come in different colors. The branches or hair-like appendages help them breathe as well as consume phytoplankton. Then we have the sea pig, which looks nothing like the pigs we have on land. But instead the sea pig is a multi-tubed foot sea creature that is closely related to the sea cucumber. It eats by pulling water and absorbing organic food. Quite innovative, even though it looks creepy.

Popular eggs recalled across the country after salmonella contamination strikes five people.
An contaminated farm has been shut down and hundreds of thousands of eggs recalled after an outbreak of a “rare” #salmonellastrain.
Hundreds of thousands of #eggs across the country are being recalled amid concerns of salmonella contamination, forcing a major Victorian egg farm to close.
Five people have been struck down by salmonella, including two who were hospitalised, in cases that are suspected to be linked to eating eggs from #BridgewaterPoultry.
The egg products are sold in Woolworths, Coles and other independent retailers across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania, but Coles is the least impacted.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand issued the warning this morning concerning Woolworths 12 Cage Free Eggs 700g, Victorian Fresh Barn Laid Eggs 600g, Victorian Fresh Barn Laid Eggs 700g, Victorian Fresh Barn Laid Eggs 800g, as well as Loddon Valley Barn Laid 600g in Victoria and South Australia only.
Health authorities have urged people with any potentially affected eggs to return them for a refund or bin them and not place them in the compost or garden.
Bridgewater Poultry has been blocked from operating while authorities investigate the outbreak.
Victoria’s chief health officer Brett Sutton said it was possible hens at the farm would have to be destroyed to eliminate the source of the salmonella contamination.
The farm, in Bridgewater On Loddon, about 40km northwest of Bendigo, was inspected on Monday by Agriculture Victoria officers and identified as “contaminated”.
Further tests carried out on Wednesday prompted the egg recall.
The farm remains under surveillance and is expected to have further swabbing and testing over the weeks ahead.
Dr Sutton said the strain of salmonella - salmonella enteritidis - was rarely found in Victoria, which made it a particular concern.
“It’s like an exotic pest. It’s the cane toad of salmonella,” he said.
“We’ve never had an outbreak of this size (in Victoria).”
Dr Sutton said the biggest concern was that it could infect the egg before the shell was formed.
The five cases of ill patients with salmonella enteritidis dates back to January and includes people ranging in age from their 20s to their 80s.
Dr Sutton said there could be more affected patients.
The symptoms included headaches, dehydration, nausea, fever and diarrhoea and in the most severe cases could lead to death.
There had been about 800 cases of salmonella in Victoria so far this year but only a minority were salmonella enteritidis - and most of those patients had been travelling overseas, Dr Sutton said.
No other egg products sold by Coles are affected by the recall, and no Coles Brand products are affected.
“People should avoid raw egg products particularly if they are vulnerable such as those with compromised immune systems, under two or over 70 years of age or pregnant,” Dr Sutton said.
“It is important to know that not all eggs are affected, but any eggs carrying the listed brands should return them to the point of sale for a full refund.
“Alternatively, they can be discarded by throwing them into the garbage, not the garden or compost.
“These eggs should not be given to pets or livestock.”
Food products contaminated with salmonella can cause severe illness if eaten.
Any people concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
Poultry may carry bacteria such as salmonella that can contaminate the inside of eggs before the shells are formed.
Eggs can also become contaminated from the droppings of poultry through the laying process or from the environment through contaminated poultry feed or bedding.
Symptoms usually start around six to 72 hours after the contaminated food is eaten and usually last for four to seven days but can continue for much longer.
In January there were 412 cases of salmonella according to NSW Health data.
In September last year a horror outbreak of food poisoning from eggs struck down at least 23 people.

Pop-Tarts is a brand of rectangular, pre-baked, convenience food toaster pastries that the Kellogg Company introduced in 1964. Somewhat similar to a contemporary English mince pie tart, Pop-Tarts have a sugary filling sealed inside two layers of rectangular, thin pastry crust. Most varieties are also frosted. Similar to Pop-Tarts is the Toaster Strudels brand, which launched in 1985 and are now a major competitor, in that they are about the same size and shape and are intended as a breakfast food and snack that is warmed in a bread toaster. However Pop-Tarts, being based on tart-style pastries, are thinner, do not need to be refrigerated, and the crust has very different texture and flavor. Nutrition is probably one of the most important considerations in owning a pet sugar glider. Sugar gliders have very unique nutritional requirements in captivity, and it's very, very important that a lot of time and effort be put toward feeding them properly to ensure that their nutritional requirements are met.
There are a number of nutritional or diet related disease conditions that can be prevented, if you educate yourself and learn how to feed them properly.
Meeting with your veterinarian and going over captive sugar glider care, husbandry, and nutrition, as well as going over the known and available types of diets for them is going to be key to keeping them healthy.
In general, sugar gliders do require a daily diet that includes fresh fruits, and some vegetables, depending on what they will eat. The diet should also include insects. Here we see mealworms. There are a number of different types of commercial insects that sugar gliders enjoy and require in their diet.
There are also a number of different types of sugar glider commercial diets. These are kibble type dry food diets that should be included as part of the diet. This should never be all of the diet.
Also we have featured here examples of nectar. There are a lot of recipes for homemade nectar type diets. Some people will use Nekton, which is a commercially available bird food. That's an acceptable substitute for feeding sugar gliders as well. And then a number of people will make other types of homemade dishes. Fruit purees, bases of applesauce, pureed bananas, any of these type of foods with other added ingredients and nutrients that round out a balance diet.
Discussing with your veterinarian, the different types of diet options, will cover known diets that are fed to sugar gliders in zoos, and diets that have been developed for captive care of sugar gliders that are older, debilitated. And also will allow you to feed them properly, and make sure that we're not running into situations where nutritional disease does develop.
So ensuring proper sugar glider nutrition is vital to prevent diseases that may develop as a result of feeding an inappropriate diet. Malnutrition related to not feeding enough calcium, not feeding enough protein, and not giving them a variety of enough fresh fruits may lead to conditions such as weakness, tremors, certain hind leg paresis, hind leg paralysis, or loss of the back limb use.
And a number of developmental problems from malnutrition, and lack of appropriate vitamins, can be prevented if you know how to feed your sugar glider properly.
