Golestan Province (Persian: استان گلستان, Ostān-e Golestān ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran, located in the north-east of the country, south of the Caspian Sea. Its capital is Gorgan.
Golestān was split off from the province of Mazandaran in 1997. It has a population of 1.6 million (2006) and an area of 20,380 km². The major townships of the province are: Gorgan, Gonbad Kavoos, Bandar Torkaman, Bandar Gaz, Aliabad-e katul, Kord Kooy, Fenderesk and Minoo Dasht.

Golestan National Park (پارک ملی گلستان), more commonly known as the Golestan Jungle (جنگل گلستان), is a National Park in Iran. It is situated in Golestan Province between the eastern parts of the Elburs Mountains and the western fringes of the Khorasan-Kopet Dag. It comprises 91,890 ha. Golestan National Park reaches from 1000 to 1400 m above sea level and has a variety of habitats, like temperate broad leaf forests, grasslands, shrubs and rocky areas. The fauna is very rich and consists of Persian leopards (Panthera pardus ciscaucasica), Indian wolves (Canis lupus pallipes), wild boars (Sus scrofa), maral deer (Cervus elaphus maral), roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), urial (Ovis ammon arkali), wild goats (Capra aegagrus) and goitered gazelles (Gazella subgutturosa).

Golestan, de Rozentuin is een film over een land van herinneringen. Hassan verliet 25 jaar geleden Iran na de revolutie. Aan de hand van zijn schriftje vol verhalen en tekeningen over dierbare plekken en mensen, reist filmmaker Sabine König door het Noorden van Iran op zoek naar wat er over is van het land dat hij achterliet. Een film over verloren vriendschappen, rijstvelden en berglandschappen, gedichten en jeugdherinneringen en een oude blauwe Dodge.
Sabine König (Bielefeld Dld, 1963) studeerde in 1997 af aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie en regisseerde in 1999 Please Hold de Line een film over een kleine belwinkel op de Nieuwmarkt. In 2002 maakte ze ook voor de Ikon de film Het Blinde Orkest over Al Nour Wal Amal Orchestra uit Caïro, het enige filharmonische orkest ter wereld dat bestaat uit blinde musici, allemaal vrouwen.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad receives warm welcome in Golestan province | Oct, 2010
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his entourage arrived in Gorgan, capital of Golestan province in northern Iran for his third provincial tour.
The President, accompanied by members of his cabinet, was warmly welcomed by local officials.
Officials of Golestan province including Gorgan's Friday Prayer leader, the provincial governor and high ranking provincial officials accorded a formal welcome to the President.
During his two-day tour, the President will address local residents, elites, war veterans and families of martyrs.
The President and his cabinet ministers will hold a session in the provincial capital to discuss the province's needs.
