IRAN - Golestan Palace - A UNESCO World Heritage Site
Golestan Palace in Tehran used to be the royal residence of the Qajar Kings during their reign of 131 years. During this period the palace was practically rebuild. The current form of the palace you see today was done in 1865. The palace is a group of buildings and halls, each with their own unique character and purpose.
The name Golestan means Flower Garden, and you might think that the large courtyard garden of the palace would be full of flowers. Yet, the garden, in this respect, is just like a typical Persian garden with some flowers, trees, and ponds.
However, almost everywhere you look, from indoor to outdoor, you'll find ceramic tiles with floral patterns cover the walls and the floors, hence the name Golestan Palace
The mirror-work, wood-work, plaster and stucco work in this palace is stunning! no amount of detail has been spared . . .
You will need a FULL day to visit Golestan Palace

Golestan Palace (Palace of Flowers), Tehran, Iran
Golestan Palace represents a unique and rich testimony of the architectural language and decorative art during the Qajar era represented mostly in the legacy of Naser ed-Din Shah. Golestan Palace is a prime example of the arts and architecture in a significant period in Persia, throughout the 19th century when the society was subject to processes of modernization. The influential role of artistic and architectural values of ancient Persia as well as the contemporary impacts of the West on the arts and architecture were integrated into a new type of arts and architecture in a significant transitional period.

Buying persian rugs in Iran! Tehran Grand Bazaar and Golestan Palace.
Oh, what a day it was! Me and my wife went to Golestan Palace for breakfast. I got lucky, because they served coffee in a huuuuge mugs :) After breakfast we went around the Golestan Palace and enjoyed it's beautiful architecture and fountains. After that we met with our friends and went to Grand Bazaar - the oldest bazaar in Tehran. We got some hand made rugs for presents to my family in Ukraine. The Grand Bazaar was amazing and it's definitely a place that you want to visit again and again! After our shopping we went to local restaurant to enjoy Persian cuisine.

Golestan Palace

Golestan Palace Tehran, Istana Raja-Raja Persia di Iran
#GolestanPalace #Irantravel #UNESCOheritagesite
Perubahan utama dilakukan selama pemerintahan Naser al-Din Shah Qajar.
