The Gem Palace is popular all over the world. The visitors to Jaipur do not leave the city without visiting Gem Palace. It was started by my great, great grandfather. We have been here in this premises for more than 150 years now. So I am the from the sixth generation. Alot of people come here. Not only from abroad but from India also, to buy Kundan-Meena work for which Jaipur is very famous.
Place is fabulous I had to come and see it. I heard so much about it. It represents the nine planets and it has some georgeous anomolly work on the back of the necklace. These are pieces which you would not really be very keen to sell, but we would rather like to keep them here, display for everybody to see. Because those are pieces of art. Jaqualynn Kennedy has bought from here. Prince Charles and Lady Diana admired our jewelery. And the list is endless.
Can you show us the most expensive one, if it is possible for you? That, I won't. I won't. This is the factory of Gem Palace. I would love to buy everything. This is Subhashish Bharuka, showing you Jaipur.
Gemstone lot sold !
I honestly do not know what to do with this lot, sell or ... give their ideas.

Johari bazaar in Jaipur is a world famous bazaar for jewelry. Johari is a Hindi word. Johari means ‘jeweler’. Jaipur jewelry mirrors the perpetual charisma of crowned heads and highlights in sparkling colors. Enticing jewelry from this imperial city amazes the visitors from all around the world. Be it a fashion show or a traditional occasion, Jaipur ornaments can accentuate any dress, and can please any women. Exquisite jewelries made of gold, emeralds, diamonds and silver can be spotted in several shops at Johari bazaar. Johari bazaar is open for public throughout the week. The overstated exhibition of various kinds of Rajasthani jewellery attracts tourists from various parts of India in addition to the tourists from foreign countries.
Johari bazaar is chock-full of vendors, silversmiths who trade Silver, diamond, gold, precious stones (like emerald, ruby, sapphire) & semi-precious stone (turquoise, amethyst, quartz) and pearls. Jaipur also famous as emerald city is popular for its manufacture of emeralds. Without doubt, tourists will get overwhelmed and stunned to see a mammoth collection of silversmiths and jewelry. However, ensure to buy jewelry from a trustworthy vendor who sells genuine products. Certified jewelry and gems are worthwhile. Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, rings and several other varieties of jewelry remain extensively showcased in Johari Bazaar. Often, tourists are interested in buying gold jewelries that are adorned with emeralds, pearls, rubies and diamonds. These sparkling jewelries that congest the shops of the Johari Bazaar are positive to hypnotise the customers.

Jaisalmer City Guide | India Travel Video in Rajasthan Transcript:
After an 18 hour overnight train ride from Delhi, we finally reached Jaisalmer, a city of yellow sandstone that lies in the middle of the Thar Desert. This proved to be my favourite stop of our month long adventure in India; now let me take you on a tour and show you why.
With so much colour all around us, it wasn’t long before we were lured into a shop and found ourselves picking out souvenirs in the form of wall hangings, pillow cases, and a small painting or two. Our luggage gained an extra couple of pounds in this city alone.
But it wasn’t all shopping in Jaisalmer. We also made time to do a bit of sightseeing inside the fort, and one of the main attractions here are the Jain Temples.
Another thing we’d recommend doing in Jaisalmer is having dinner on a rooftop restaurant while the sun sets. There are plenty of restaurants scattered across the city and the views you get as the sun goes down are amazing. We chose one at random and it included a live music performance.
The following day was all about visiting the Thar Desert on an afternoon camel trek. It was a nice change of pace from the city, and we got to enjoy a traditional meal cooked over a campfire.
The next morning we went back to the fort because we just couldn’t stay away. I visited the Jaisalmer Fort Palace Museum & Heritage Center, while Sam and his mom picked up a few additional gifts for family back home.

Amazing Carnatic Music | Raga Shanmukhapriya | Aruna Sairam | Music of India

Learn more about the music:
Aruna Sairam’s voice brings a husky authority to modern Carnatic music. She first learnt to sing by listening to her mother and is part of a long line of female musicians. The direct teaching lineage stretches back over 200 years, to the singers and dancers of the Tamil court. She is an exponent of ‘pure’ Carnatic singing but also looks outwards, with collaborations ranging from jazz and Sufi to Gregorian chant and film scores. She sings in 12 different languages, and vice-chairs the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India’s premier national music and dance institution.
She pulls no punches when it comes to the psychological obstacles faced by female musicians today: “You’re constantly told you’re not good enough…it can be more difficult to be in touch with your inner talents, as society expects women to nourish others first.” Listen to more of Aruna here:

-Teertha Vitthala Kshetra Vitthala |

Shanmukhapriya’s ominous melodic structure is often associated with Murugan, the god of war, and Shiva, the destroyer. It is a sampoorna [seven-note] ragam, ascending and descending symmetrically as SR₂G₂M₂PD₁N₂S. There is a wide interval jump between Ri and Gi, and its distinctive shape has been widely used for song composition for centuries.
