Gonbad e Qabus
The 53 m high tomb built in ad 1006 for Qābus Ibn Voshmgir, Ziyarid ruler and literati, near the ruins of the ancient city of Jorjan in north-east Iran, bears testimony to the cultural exchange between Central Asian nomads and the ancient civilization of Iran. The tower is the only remaining evidence of Jorjan, a former centre of arts and science that was destroyed during the Mongols’ invasion in the 14th and 15th centuries. It is an outstanding and technologically innovative example of Islamic architecture that influenced sacral building in Iran, Anatolia and Central Asia. Built of unglazed fired bricks, the monument’s intricate geometric forms constitute a tapering cylinder with a diameter of 17–15.5 m, topped by a conical brick roof. It illustrates the development of mathematics and science in the Muslim world at the turn of the first millennium AD.

Iran Trip Part 01, Tehran, Nouschar, Gorgan, Gonbad-e Qabus, Garmeh
Don't go to Iran, that's what I heard many times. So it was clear to me to go to Iran :D
And it was a good desicion. I met so many nice people and so many beautiful places. This trip was not a typical touristic trip. Everybody is going South after Tehran to Shiraz, Esfahan or Yazd.
That's why I decided to go North and I never regretted it :D
First part is about Tehran, Nouschar, Gorgan, Gonbad-e Qabus, Garmeh and some day trips.

The Great Monument in Iran, Kabus Tower
Gonbad-e Qabus (tower)
Gonbad-e Qabus or Qabus tower is a great monument in Iran,
It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012.
The tower was built in 1006 AD on the orders of the Ziyarid Amir Shams ol-Ma'āli Qabus ibn Wushmgir (شمس المعالي قابوس بن وشمگير).
This tower which stands on a domed hill is located in the central park of Gonbad Qabus city.
The tower is over 1000 years old and its height is 72 meters (236 ft)
The tower built from backed bricks is an enormous decagon building with a conic roof, which forms the golden ratio Phi.
The interiors contain the earliest examples of Muqarnas decorative styles.
The decagon are divided into 10 sides and has a diameter of 17 m…..
And thickness of decagon walls is 3 meter…..
Robert Byron, the British travel writer and architectural critic, wrote that it was a photograph of the tower that motivated him to visit Persia.[2] Seeing the tower, he maintained his high opinion of its qualities, that 'the Gumbad-i-Kabus ranks with the great buildings of the world.

In traditional Persian architecture, a dome is referred to as a gonbad .The history of designing gonbads dates back to pre-Islamic Persia. The Parthians in particular were very keen in using such structures in their designs. The Sassanids inherited them and elevated their designs into full maturity.

IRAN - Turkmen Sahra - BEAUTY, MYSTERY, HISTORY . . .
IRAN - The Wonderland
Turkmen Sahra is a vast and northernmost part of the Golestan Province and adjacent to the country of Turkmenistan. This is where the majority of 2 Million plus of Iranian Turkmen live.
They have a distinct culture of their own including the: language, music, dance, art(Turkman carpets), and traditional clothing.
This video will take you through the magnificent Thousand Valleys in Turkmen Sahra to an elevation of 2200 ft where the Khalid Nabi Cemetery is located.
The cemetery is a mystery since it relates to Phallic religion practiced in Greece, India, and the Far East, but not found in Turkmen culture or belief! - So, why is it here?!
Also, one of Iran's World Heritage Sites Gonbad-e Qabus Tower is located in this region in a city by the same name. The tower (Gonbad) is the tallest brick tower (200 ft) in the world built back in 1,006 CE. The precise calculated geometric pattern/design exemplifies the expertise of the Persians in the usage of math in architectures of all shapes and patterns
