-Dublin is the capital of and largest city in Ireland. Dublin is located in the province of Leinster on the east coast of Ireland, at the mouth of the River Liffey and bordered on the South by the Wicklow Mountains. The city has an urban area population of 1,173,179. The population of the Dublin Region, as of 2016, was 1,347,359 people, and the population of the Greater Dublin area was 1,904,806. There is archaeological debate regarding precisely where Dublin was established by Celtic-speaking people in the 7th century. Later expanded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin became Ireland's principal city following the Norman invasion. The city expanded rapidly from the 17th century and was briefly the second largest city in the British Empire before the Acts of Union in 1800. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State, later renamed Ireland.
-Limerick is a city in County Limerick, Ireland. It is located in the Mid-West Region and is also part of the province of Munster. Limerick City and County Council is the local authority for the city. The city lies on the River Shannon, with the historic core of the city located on King's Island, which is bounded by the Shannon and the Abbey River. Limerick is also located at the head of the Shannon Estuary where the river widens before it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. With a population of 94,192, Limerick is the third most populous urban area in the state, and the fourth most populous city on the island of Ireland.
-Doolin is a coastal village in County Clare, Ireland, on the Atlantic coast. It borders the spa town of Lisdoonvarna. It is a noted centre of traditional Irish music, which is played nightly in its pubs, making it a popular tourist destination. There are numerous nearby archaeological sites, many dating to the Iron Age and earlier. Doonagore Castle and Ballinalacken Castle are also in the area. The area was officially classified as part of the West Clare Gaeltacht (an Irish-speaking community) until 1956, and, due to trade with the Aran Islands, maintained a strong connection to it until the 1990s
-Galway is a city in the West of Ireland, in the province of Connacht. Galway lies on the River Corrib between Lough Corrib and Galway Bay, surrounded by County Galway, and is the sixth most populous city in Ireland, with a population of 79,934. The city's name comes from the Irish name Gaillimhe, which formed the western boundary of the earliest settlement, Dún Gaillimhe Fort Gaillimh. Residents of the city are referred to as Galwegians.

She played the fiddle in an Irish band
But she fell in love with an English man
Kissed her on the neck and then I took her by the hand
Said baby I just want to dance
I met her on Grafton street right outside of the bar
She shared a cigarette with me while her brother played the guitar
She asked me what does it mean the Gaelic ink on your arm?
Said it was one of my friend’s songs do you want to drink on?
She took Jamie as a chaser, Jack for the fun
She got Arthur on the table, with Johnny riding as shot gun
Chatted some more, one more drink at the bar
Then put Van on the jukebox, got up to dance, you know
She played the fiddle in an Irish band
But she fell in love with an English man
Kissed her on the neck and then I took her by the hand
Said baby I just want to dance
With my pretty little Galway Girl
You’re my pretty little Galway Girl
You know she beat me at darts and then she beat me at pool
And then she kissed me like there was nobody else in the room
As last orders were called, was when she stood on the stool
After dancing the céilí, singing to trad tunes
I never heard Carrickfergus ever sung so sweet
Acapella in the bar using her feet for a beat
Oh I could have that voice playing on repeat for a week
And in this packed out room, swear she was singing to me
She played the fiddle in an Irish band
But she fell in love with an English man
Kissed her on the neck and then I took her by the hand
Said baby I just want to dance
My pretty little Galway girl
My my my my my my my Galway girl
My my my my my my my Galway girl
My my my my my my my Galway girl
Now we’ve outstayed our welcome and it’s closing time
I was holding her hand, her hand was holding mine
Our coats both smell of smoke, whisky and wine
As we fill up our lungs with the cold air of the night
I walked her home then she took me inside
Finish some Doritos and another bottle of wine
I swear I’m going to put you in a song that I write
About a Galway girl and a perfect night
She played the fiddle in an Irish band
But she fell in love with an English man
Kissed her on the neck and then I took her by the hand
Said baby I just want to dance
My pretty little Galway girl
My my my my my my my Galway girl
My my my my my my my Galway girl
My my my my my my my Galway girl
Walking around the island of Ireland
One of the best ways to truly appreciate Ireland’s scenery is to explore it on foot!
Discover more at
Walking in Ireland lets you take in the sights, sounds, and landscapes as nature intended: at your own pace. With walks, trails, and hikes to every ability, take your pick from Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, National Parks, serene beach walks and coastal trails, and vivid historical sites!
Fast facts about walking on the island of Ireland:
1. Walking festivals are a must for anyone that wants to get a real sense of the island of Ireland and its people. The oldest, and biggest, walking festival is the Ballyhoura International Festival in Limerick. Stretching over the May bank holiday weekend, it attracts visitors from across the globe – and lots of strangers (or as Sligo-local and Nobel Laureate WB Yeats called them: “friends you just haven’t met yet”). Also, check out the Mourne International Walking Festival (June) and the Castlebar International 4 Days' Walks Festival (June-July).
2. Possibly the most iconic walking locations on the island of Ireland are along its coastline, including vast stretches of the Wild Atlantic Way and the Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland.
3. The International Appalachian Trail runs from west Donegal to Larne in County Antrim. Starting at the imposing Slieve League mountain, the walk takes you through the Blue Stack Mountains and into Northern Ireland, before passing through the Giant’s Causeway and finishing at the Glens of Antrim.
4. You’ll hear two titles in Ireland for our exceptional landscapes: Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in Northern Ireland and National Parks in the Republic of Ireland. The Wicklow National Park, The Causeway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Mourne Mountains are featured in our video. Others National Parks include the Connemara National Park and Killarney National Park. Other AONBs include the Ring of Gullion and the Sperrins.

EN: Ireland is not just cliffs, green, rocks, sheeps and castles.
And it's not even just rain and sun chasing each other angrily, fog and wind and ocean trying to be one thing.
Ireland is an ensemble of all these things and many others, that connect to your soul, creating a tangle of emotions and intimate sensations that make you fall in love with this island.
History is not just history we built, it's not just churches, palaces and statues of great heroes. History tells us of the evolution of man in interacting with earth, nature, with his habitat, and as for thousands of years man has adapted him self to the land he lived in, without forcing it to change.
The harshness of the climate, the harshness of much of the Irish environment, the strength of sea that cannot be tamed, the imposingness of winds, created the landscapes we now see and love in Ireland.
Coming here and crossing the country far and wide by car, causes an incredible amount of soul movements that, only now I can understand, are linked to what is most ancestral and primordial in human being.
Ireland literally takes us back to feeling the earth, the past, what was mankind before the era we know.
It brings us back to a more ancient and primitive ourselves.
That's what Ireland means, the why we fall in love with it, the why we want to come back to Ireland again and again.
Being here makes you feel even stronger, more mature, more authentic.

Ballinalacken Castle and Hotel
On our trip to Ireland and the Cliffs of Moher, we stayed at this hotel with the castle behind it. The owner even guided us through a tour of the castle the night we arrived. Before we checked out, the weather cleared enough to get a short flight in. This location is about a 15 min drive from the cliffs, and you can even see them in some of the footage.

Ierland, Yeats en Sligo
Op zondag 22 mei 2017 reisden we in het spoor van de beroemde Ierse dichter W.B. Yeats (1865-1939). Eerst bezochten we zijn graf in Drumcliff (Under Ben Bulben).
Ireland Friend Trip 2018
Went to visit my friend in Ireland a while back. Had a blast and definitely hope to be back again. Many thanks to my hosts for being so hospitable .
Cliffs of Moher: A view from the Top
One of our favorite spots that offers an extraordinary view can be found on the west coast of Ireland--the Cliffs of Moher. The Cliffs are almost vertical and their sheer drop into the heaving Atlantic ocean is a haven for sea birds. One can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, as well as The Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk Mountains to the north in Connemara and Loop Head to the South, the top is never tiresome. The Cliffs of Moher is home to a hugh number of nesting seabirds. These include the Atlantic Puffin, Razorbuill, Chough and Common Gull. The area is designated as a Refuge for Fauna since 1988 and as a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) under the EU Birds Directive in 1989.
