Bushwalking at Spring creek cascades at Beechworth
This is a fantastic place to take the kids bush walking. My daughters had an absolute blast looking at the waterfall, playing with some cameras and hiking along some bush tracks.
Spring Creek cascades is located just outside the township of Beechworth on Gorge Road. Beechworth is located in North East Victoria, Australia about half an hour east of Wangaratta.
Hiking, or bushwalking is a fantastic past time. It is great for fitness, which is great for mental health. Bushwalking, or hiking is also fantastic for family bonding.
We had a wonderful afternoon bushwalking, or hiking into Spring Creek Cascades. The hike is not long, only around 1km or so each way, but it is a steep little hike with spectacular views and can be extended if you are in the mood to hike all the way down to Woolshed Falls which is around 3km each way.
Woolshed Falls is a very popular tourist attraction here in North East Victoria and well worth a visit. You can drive straight to the lookout, climb out onto the rock face, swim in the plunge pools and there are a couple of short bushwalking tracks in the area. Alternatively you can just walk to Woolshed Falls from the Gorge road at Beechworth, via Spring Creek Cascades and hike all the way down.

Having so far spent 3 years planning our change of lifestyle to living and working permanently around this wonderful Country. We've sold all but the necessities. And putting our house up for sale, selling the car buying a small tug and putting a deposit on a beautiful Motorhome with a very patient CMCA member, reading all about everyone else's fantastic adventures, drooling over the pictures and articles....here we are, still waiting for the house to sell before we can pay that wonderful CMCA Member for that gorgeous RV.
So here we are still in Albury, on the NSW Vic Border on the majestic and historic Murray River, having lived here and around the area all of my 54 years I thought I could introduce everyone to my stomping ground, all be it from my point of view and our interests, but hopefully give some idea of this incredible diverse and stunningly beautiful part of Australia, there really is something for everyone around this district, shopping, sitting for a coffee or tea and chat, wineries, historic towns, antique stores, snow on the nearby mountains, bike or walking tracks, swimming and water sports, fishing, beautiful bush, 4WD tracks, it's just endless although to be truthful I'm not sure how RV friendly it is.
I'll start with my personal favorite, Woolshed Falls just out of the beautiful historic Gold Rush Town of Beechworth Victoria 35 km from Wodonga.

Just a few clips of our Anniversary trip thrown together.
Filmed in and around beautiful Bright, Victoria.
Shot with a Nikon D810, complete disregard of shutter speeds and cinematic frame rates.. lazy shooting at it's best!
Also the Phantom 4 pro plus, of which was not performing well.. loosing connection, no gps, faulty obstacle avoidance.. this thing is giving me grey hairs. when is the new Phantom Pro coming out??
Any who.. enjoy!

BEECHWORTH WEEKEND RETREAT
BEECHWORTH,VICTORIA,AUSTRALIA
Flash flooding Tarrawingee December 13th 2018
When my wife and I went to go fishing at Beechworth this morning we never expected to encounter this. In almost 44 years living in Wangaratta I have never seen flooding like this in Tarrawingee.
The Tarrawingge to Beechworth road is completely flooded and is now closed by a police road block, and there are reports of a bridge being swept away on the creek just out of Tarrawingee.
It is not just Tarrawingee, there is water everywhere and the Hume HIghway is flooded and closed just north of Wangaratta with 50 vehicles stranded. My father is on one of those vehicles and has just told me that the police helicopter has just arrived on the scene.
10 hours ago we were still in severe drought here in North East Victoria, and now there is damaging flooding with more rainfall to come. It is pouring rain right now as I type.
I am not sure how much effect this will have on the local fishing. Obviously the Ovens River will come up dirty and rise, but how long it stays effected for I do not know.
Either way, flooding is usually very good for fishing and I am sure that the long term benefits will be great for the fishing in North East Victoria.
Timber Creek Caravan Park , Victoria Highway, NT
Timber Creek Caravan Park has its own freshwater crocodiles and kite feeding birds for entertainment. A nice oasis on the Victoria Highway between Katherine NT and Kununurra WA. Good o/n stay... or two.
