Founded in 1407, it is one of the oldest non-denominational schools in the country and stands on the edge of the attractive market town of Oswestry, in Shropshire, on the border of England and Wales. It is set in 50 acres of its own grounds and boasts some of the most beautiful countrysides in Britain on its doorstep.

Top 10 Most Beautiful Abandoned Mansions in The World
Part one:
Which abandoned mansion was your favorite? Let us know in the comments below! This has been Jake from Web Watch, thanks for watching.
10. The Parthenon of El Negro
Arturo “El Negro” Duranzo Moreno was the Police Chief of Mexico in the late 1900s. Moreno quickly became notorious for being one of, if not the most corrupt police chief in Mexican history. Despite only holding the position of police chief for six years with a salary of just under $12,000 USD a year, he still managed to own multiple mansions for himself. All of these funds meant Moreno’s house was the most lavish house in the city. This crooked businessman hired a local architect to build his own version of the Parthenon perched atop a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
9. Blake House, Berkeley
The Blake house was built in the early 1900s as a house for Anson and Anita Blake, a wealthy couple of quarry owners. In 1967, the home was donated to UC Berkeley and turned into the home of the University’s President. However, in 2008, then president Robert Dynes aid the house was “unlivable” following his resignation. Since then, the house has sat abandoned and decaying.
8. Muromtzevo Mansion, Russia
Vladimir Khrapovitsky, a Russian nobleman, bought a large plot of land about 150km outside of Moscow and set to work. He hired P.S. Boitzov, the best architect in Russia at the time to design the structure. The castle was a mix of German, French, and Russian styles. The mansion included horse stables, a pavilion, a pond, and many other beautiful features. Khrapovitsky died during a squalor during the uprising. After this, the house was briefly used as a university and a hospital, but quickly fell into abandon where it sits to this day.
7. Whitemarsh Hall, PA
Whitemarsh Hall was a 300 acre estate located in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1921 to banking executive Edward T. Stotesbury and his wife, Eva. At the time, the house was the third largest private estate in the U.S. The mansion was left abandoned with no one interesting in paying the large fees associated with fixing and maintaining the building and surrounding land. With the building decaying, and efforts to restore it unsuccessful, the solution decided upon was demolition. In 1980, this mansion, bigger than the White House, was completely torn down. Today, this is regarded as one of the greatest losses in American architectural history.
6. Selma Plantation
Following a succession of many owners, Selma was sold to a foreign investor in 1999 where it fell into neglect. Over the next few years, the mansion fell into decay and vandalism. Unlike many of the other houses we talk about on this channel, this house is actually undergoing a massive renovation project. In 2016, Selma was purchased by Sharon D. Virts and Scott F. Miller. They plan on keeping Selma a private home while restoring the house to its former glory. It is very likely that these two single-handedly saved Selma from complete destruction.
5. Hafodunos Hall, Wales
Hafodunos Hall is a Gothic revival home in North Wales. The house was built in the 1860s for Henry Robertson Sandbach. In 2004, the main block of the house was burned to the ground, but the rest of the structure did survive. The house and the gardens then fell into neglect. There were a few people interested in buying, but no one actually purchased the property until 2010. The new owners have plans to restore the hall and use it as a private home.
4. Round Mansion, Belgium
This mansion was mysteriously abandoned by the family who lived there decades ago. No one is sure why they left, but they left all of their belongings inside. Some of these belongings include the surgical equipment, syringes, antidotes, and other doctor's equipment that still sit in the house today.
3. Pineheath House, Yorkshire, England
The Pineheath house was owned by a prominent and wealthy Indian couple in the early 1900s. The house was used as a place to stay in Autumn while they were in the U.K. After the couple passed away, it was left abandoned. It has remained relatively untouched and in stable condition since it was left abandoned, making it a time-capsule of sorts.
2. Cambusnethan House, North Lanarkshire, Scotland
This beautiful mansion was built in 1820 by well known Scottish architect, James Gillespie Graham. The house was built for the Lockhart family of Castlehill. Use of the building ended in 1984, and ever since then the building has fallen prey to vandalism and fire. There is not much hope left for this once impressive mansion.
1. Brogyntyn Hall, Oswestry
Brogyntyn Hall is a beautiful mansion plagued with a horrible history and possibly a worse ending. The house was built around 1730 and has sat abandoned and decaying for years until January 2017 when it was scheduled for demolition. The hall is thankfully still standing, but its fate is in jeopardy.
