Gorleston-on-Sea Beach and Seafront - British Seaside VIDEO TOUR (Norfolk, UK)
I had never heard of Gorleston-on-Sea before, but I searched Google Maps for arcades and it brough me here! lol! Not much to see as far as arcades go, but I thought I would check out the town while visiting! I liked the small pond where the small motor boats are, unique!

Gorleston-on-Sea, known colloquially as Gorleston, is a settlement in Norfolk, England, to the south of Great Yarmouth. Situated at the mouth of the River Yare it was a port town at the time of the Domesday Book. The port then became a centre of fishing for herring along with salt pans used for the production of salt to preserve the fish. In Edwardian times the fishing industry rapidly declined and the town's role changed to that of a seaside resort.

Gorleston-on-Sea, also known colloquially as Gorleston, is a settlement in Norfolk, England, on the south of Great Yarmouth.
Historically the town was in the county of Suffolk. In the Middle Ages it had two manors, and a small manor called Bacons. In 1832, it became a part of Great Yarmouth for electoral purposes. Finally in 1835 it merged with the town and became part of Great Yarmouth in the county of Norfolk. Gorleston Barracks were established in 1853. There used to be two railway stations. Both were on the coastal line which joined Great Yarmouth with Lowestoft - Gorleston-on-Sea closed in 1970 whilst its neighbour, Gorleston North closed in 1942.
It is a seaside resort and tourist destination. Its main attraction is its sandy Edwardian Beach. It has traditional seaside gardens and model boat pond. It also has a theatre opposite the pier called the Pavilion. The main shopping centre is on High Street. It has its own golf club. There is also the hospital and a library. The nearest railway station remaining open is the Great Yarmouth railway station. There is a lighthouse, lifeboat station and coastwatch station on Riverside Road.
In the Great Storm of 1987, Gorleston experienced the highest wind speed recorded in the UK on that day, which was 122 mph (196 km/h). The town is meticulously described in the novel 'Gorleston' by Henry Sutton (Sceptre, 1995) and in Philip Leslie's novels 'The History of Us' (Legend Press, 2009) and 'What Remains' (December House, 2013). Both Sutton and Leslie employ the actual names of roads and retail outlets in their work.

Gorleston Links railway station
Gorleston Links was a railway station in Gorleston, England. It was located on an embankment to the north of Links Road and to the south west of the end of Hill Avenue. The tracks southward crossed Links Road by bridge.
Gorleston Links was opened in July 1914 to serve the adjacent golf course . The station was closed four years later as a post-war economy measure, but later reopened in 1919, this time as a result of the increasing number of holiday makers visiting the area. Initially named Gorleston Links Halt, the station was renamed just Gorleston Links in 1968, merely two years before its eventual closure.
The area where the station was situated has changed greatly in the years since 1970; residential redevelopment has led to the removal of the bridge and embankment, leaving no trace of the former halt.
The route of the railway line south of Gorleston Links ran almost parallel with the A12 (Lowestoft Road) to Station Road in Hopton, which was the location of Hopton railway station.

Play – sports of all sorts in Great Yarmouth
Great Yarmouth is blessed with all sorts of sporting action, whether you want to watch or to play.
Dinghy and yacht racing takes place on the Broads at Rollesby and Filby as well as in the sea off Gorleston with racing most Sundays, the board walk and esplanade are both great viewing spots for spectators. Spectators are also welcome to take their places in the centre court grandstand at the annual beach volleyball competition in June, it’s top-class beach volleyball played out right under your nose.
If you’d rather get in on the action, get your skates on at the indoor roller-skating rink, beat the other team at quasar laser, tee off at one of several seaside golf courses along the Greater Yarmouth coastline, or challenge the kids to an adventured themed 18 hole course. For something a little less energetic but no less exacting, enter the UK’s largest outdoor bowling championship in August, or just play a few woods at the Britannia Bowling Greens.
Round off your day with an evening of sport watching thrilling stock car or greyhound racing from the comfort of the restaurant, high above the racetrack.
