Gosford Castle & Forest Park, Co. Armagh
Gosford Castle is a 19th-century country house situated in Gosford, a townland of Markethill, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, close to the border with County Down. It was built for Archibald Acheson, 2nd Earl of Gosford, and designed in the Norman revival style by London architect Thomas Hopper. It is a Grade A listed building,[1] and is said to be Northern Ireland's largest.[2] The Earls of Gosford occupied the castle until 1921, and the estate was later purchased by the Ministry of Agriculture to form Gosford Forest Park. The building subsequently deteriorated and in 2006 was sold to a development company who converted the castle into private dwellings.

Join me on a tour of Gosford House near Edinburgh, where I'll be exploring all the Gosford House Outlander locations that were used in series 2 and 3 of the TV series.
First, it was used as the royal stables of Versailles in Outlander season 2, then again as the Helwater Estate of the Dunsany Family and the inside of the Earl of Ellesmere's Home in Outlander season 3.

A quick ride around the Blue off road trail at Gosford Forest Park, just outside Armagh, Northern Ireland.
The loop is 6.2miles, and takes on average 45-60 minutes to complete 1 lap.
The trail comprises mainly of man made single track, which is generally quite smooth, with some simple features throughout. It's a really great trail, and heaps of fun on a hardtail or Gravel bike.

Close to Ironbridge Gorge, we visited another National Trust property of Benthall Hall.
This fine stone country house is situated on a plateau above the river Severn, which runs thru Ironbridge Gorge.
The house has been in the Benthall family, since it was built in 1535.
The current country house was built on the site of 12th century medieval manor house.
The house has some beautiful oak paneling and a beautiful staircase. In the previous property at Dyrham Park we saw the restoration work being completed on the stairs by the National Trust.
The property also had some beautiful Chinese ceramics, however made by the Chinese for the European market likely 18th century.
The neighbouring church, St Bartholomew, has some very interesting history in it..even a bequestment of one of the Benthall family to the poor up on the walls.
The church was rebuilt during the Restoration period after the original church was destroyed in the civil war.
Go up from Ironbridge to the Hall and back, as the property comes with 200 acres of land.

In 2001, Robert Altman (MASH, The Long Goodbye) took the unexpected step into Agatha Christie territory with Gosford Park, a murder-mystery whodunit set in an English country house starring a host of British acting greats and with an Oscar-winning screenplay by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes. It would become a huge success with audiences and critics alike. Set in 1932, the action unfolds during a weekend shooting party hosted by William McCordle (Michael Gambon), and his wife Lady Sylvia (Kristin Scott Thomas) at his estate, Gosford Park. Among the guests are friends, relatives, the actor and composer Ivor Novello (Jeremy Northam), and an American film producer (Bob Balaban). When Sir William is found murdered in the library, everyone - and their servants - becomes a suspect. Also starring Charles Dance, Michael Gambon, Richard E. Grant, Helen Mirren, Clive Owen, Maggie Smith, Emily Watson and many more. Altman produced another masterpiece deserving to be ranked alongside Nashville and Short Cuts as one his finest forays into ensemble drama.

Portadown Town - Portadown People's Park, Fairytale Forest
Portadown People's Park - the first time one hears the name Fairy tale Forest, one just starts to guess what are the characters and things he/she would meet there, but when we reached the place, we finally knew :-)
Portadown People's Park is a park in Portadown town that is located in county Armagh, Northern Ireland, and which manages to host different events and is also a place that is suitable for different age groups.
From the different things found inside this park, there is the state of the art play park that is suitable for all age groups starting from toddlers and ending with teens. Inside the park there is also the themed gardens with there different features and benches. There is also the pond area with the two bridges which holds different activities there, such as pond-dipping and mini-beast hunting, as well as different varieties of trails for all different ages to enjoy and walk through. In this park, there are also some sport facilities such as the two grass soccer pitches, the one grass multi sports pitching catering for Soccer, American Football, Gaelic Games and Rugby. And eventually, there is the amphitheater where different events are being held there.
So apart from all these different things that could be done in Portadown People's Park, there was the Fairytale Forest event which we decided to take the kids to in order to have some fun there. Once the kids entered the event through the grand gates of the park, they started a trail where they met different characters and where they also started solving puzzles, playing games, and finding answers for the questions asked to them, and at the end of this journey inside the park, they finally received a reward - a chocolate unicorn.
Following the trail was the first thing the kids wanted to achieve to see what the end holds out for them, but after finishing the trail, there were several activities from which they could choose one and do, such as the puppet shows at the amphitheatre, the maypole dancing, or even any of the crafts workshops which were found there - it was really interesting.
It is really interesting to come across those favorite cartoon movie characters in real - such as the beauty and the beast which we were welcomed by inside the park - as well as other ones which the kids where so excited about seeing (and touching) and then ending it all with taking a picture before leaving.
After getting done with this trail - by passing through the rainbow - we then decided to head for food! Enjoy burgers and pizza for the kids is considered of course one of the best kind of junk food one could have :-) to make sure we end the day in just the right way.
Don't you think that trails are always considered the best trips one could go on out there? I believe so, it always gives you the feeling that you are on a mission which you are supposed to finish and find its end - it is even much more exciting when this trail and mission happens to be in the forest or in a garden, you end up surrounded by green areas and walking through trees to reach your destinations.
We have been on different trips in Northern Ireland before which are related to trails and finding things in them - not just the Fairytale Forest in Portadown - but we have also been to the Narnia Trail in Rostrevor which is related to The Chronicles of Narnia story that was written by the famous British writer, CS Lewis, and which is considered a famous book series in Ireland that was used in TV, radio, and shows (
It was not only about the Narnia Trail that we took the kids to and enjoyed - we even visited more than once and also passed by the CS Lewis Square in Belfast that tells more about the writer ( - but we also managed to go to other trails which included the Gruffalo Trail in Colin Glen Park and which is taken from The Gruffalo book where the kids kept searching for the different characters and loved to take different photos by them as well (
In addition to those which are considered our favorite, we have also been to George Best Trail ( we have also been to the Van Morrison Trail ( and we also visited the Limavady Sculpture Trail (
Those different events which are held from one time to another are considered our favorite because they always turn out to be different and succeed in getting all the family members happy about spending some time there - we were happy having the kids playing around and we enjoyed the good walk around the park as well.

Castlewellan Forest Park is located in Castlewellan, Northern Ireland. It contains the national Arboretum of Northern Ireland, started in 1740, which contains trees from Asia, North and South America, and Australasia. The park contains many trails for walkers, and also trails for Mountain bikers. The lake is also used by canoeists.
The peace maze located in the park was constructed between 2000 and 2001. It contains 6000 hew trees planted by volunteers from Northern Ireland. It was the longest permanent hedge maze in the world until July 2007, when the Pineapple Garden Maze in Wahiawa, Hawaii was extended.
Castwellan Castle is a Scottish baronial castle built by the Annesley family between 1856 and 1858. It is close to the entrance of the arboretum and overlooks Castlewellan Lake. The castle is now used as a conference centre.

This time i decided to climb all peaks on the right side of the SILENT VALLEY RESERVOIR and BEN CROM RESERVOIR which are; WEE BINNIAN 460M , Slieve Gullion A walk on Lugnaquilla 925 M .
The mountain is the highest peak of the Wicklow Mountains range, the highest in the province of Leinster, and the 13th highest peak in all Ireland.I started my walk from Baravore ( there is car park at the end of the Glenmalure road ) .Follow the small path along the side of the river to find a small footbridge.Cross the river and continue along the road past the youth hostel.Turn left and walk through Fraughan Rock Glen.Walk uphill along the river .The river descends the steep slope at the head of the glen.Follow the path up to emerge onto an open area at the head of the glen with the summit of Lugnaquilla now visible in front and Cloghernagh on the left.Magical Place in Northern Ireland.

Syon House Conservatory
The Conservatory at Syon House which has been used in TV and movie productions. The Great Conservatory in the gardens, designed by Charles Fowler in 1828 and completed in 1830, was the first conservatory to be built from metal and glass on a large scale. The conservatory was shown in a dream sequence in Meera Syal's 1993 film Bhaji on the Beach. It was also the setting for the music video to The Cure's 1984 single The Caterpillar, directed by Tim Pope. (wikipedia).
