Maury River Kayaking - Goshen Pass @ 2,500 cfs
Pete and Kevin Ratliff head up to Virginia to paddle the Goshen Pass section of the Maury River. Water levels were 4.5' on the gauge and 2500 cfs. Oh, and there is a pretty good swim in there too!
Rock Climbing in Goshen Pass, Virginia
Goshen Pass is Virginia's oldest state-managed natural area. Located in Rockbridge County, about 10 miles north of Lexington. This area is popular for rock climbing, hiking, fishing, and water sports.

In the 1890s, the tiny Rockbridge County community of Goshen was being transformed into the Iron Center of the South. At the heart of town an elaborate steel bridge was constructed to be a symbol of the wealth that awaited investors. Within three years the boom went bust. Over time, icons of Goshen's heyday disappeared—except for the steel bridge. But more than a century of use had left the structure a rusting relic. This 2004 video traces the unique history of the Goshen Bridge, its importance to the community, and VDOT's work to preserve and restore this important landmark.

Recorded 8/2/08. You can see for miles atop this mountaintop peak along Rt 39 near Goshen, Va. I was stunned to see, of all things, tour busses trying to navigate this windy, twisted country mountain road, and I even saw two car-carriers. I thought that was REALLY odd. Why on earth would a driver choose this route to haul six or seven new cars? A tour bus is shown in the video.
