Dogs and their owners splash around together in open-air swimming pool | SWNS TV
Dogs and their owners splashed around together in open-air swimming pool as they enjoyed the last few rays of summer sun. The ‘doggy swim day’ was held at Gourock Outdoor Pool, in Gourock, Inverclyde, for the first time ever in Scotland. Organisers were inspired by similar events which have taken place in England. Stephen McNally, 43, went for a dip with his Spanish water dog, Ibby. The pooch, aged four-and-a-half, loves splashing around in water and Stephen, who works as a resource manager, was happy to join her.

Old Photographs Gourock Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Gourock, a town in the old county of Renfrew. It has in the past functioned as a seaside resort on the East shore of the upper Firth of Clyde. The name Gourock comes from a Gaelic word for rounded hill , in reference to the hill above the town. As far back as 1494 it is recorded that King James IV sailed from the shore at Gourock to quell the rebellious Highland clans. Two hundred years later William and Mary granted a Charter in favour of Stewart of Castlemilk which raised Gourock to a Burgh of Barony. In 1784 the lands of Gourock were purchased by Duncan Darroch, a former merchant in Jamaica. From a small fishing village in the traditional county of Renfrewshire, Gourock grew into a community involved in herring curing, copper mining, ropemaking, quarrying and latterly yacht building and repairing. When the competing railway companies extended their lines to provide fast connections to Clyde steamer services the Pierhead was built as a railway terminus. Nowadays a passenger ferry serves Kilcreggan and electric trains provide a service to Glasgow from Gourock railway station at the pierhead. Gourock Outdoor Pool was built in 1909. Gourock Sailing Club was founded in 1894. Clan Darroch links with Gourock began in the later half of the 18th century with Duncan Darroch, 1st of Gourock, who had returned to Scotland after making a fortune in the West Indies. Charlie Barr, was born Charles Barr in Gourock on 11 July 1864. he was an accomplished sailing skipper who three times captained winning America's Cup yachts. Barr died whilst visiting Southampton, England on 24 January 1911, he is buried in Southampton Old Cemetery. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.

Gourock And Roll | Next Stop Everywhere
Our last Scotland vlog (awwww!) see us starting off in the gorgeous city of Glasgow (just for a quick stop) and then it's along the coast to Gourock to complete our 'Scottish outdoor pool trilogy'! (if that's a real thing... well, it is for us!)
We take a chance to pop into the stunning railway station at Wemyss Bay (just cause were geeks like that!) then it's onwards to Culzean Castle, where we stay at the neighbouring campsite and explore the beautiful gardens and historic castle.
Next we venture deep into Galloway Forest Park, taking our time (phew!) to trek up the 'Merrick' and learn a little about Robert the Bruce and the Scottish battles for Independence against the English.
Finally, we arrive (en route to the ferry port at Stranraer) at New England Bay, where we pitch up at the sea-front campsite (again, of the same name!) and follow Claire's green fingers to Logan Botanic Gardens, where we were truly blown away by the array of unique plants grown in their small Scottish micro-climate.
Enjoy, and join us for our Next Stop... Everywhere!

A group of orcas appeared very close to the shore of a pod in Scotland- leaving speechless the visitors watching them.
The beautiful animals were recorded swimming, getting as closer to the shore as possible, in South Nesting Bay, Shetland Mainland, Scotland, on 9 of July.
Nick Littlefair, who took the video, was in the area doing the ‘ultimate Shetland tour’, along with a guide and seven other travellers.
He could see the orcas from far away for some time- but when he realised they were getting close to the shore, he decided it was time to start recording.
