More information about the video content bellow:
1. The Chuvash Republic is a federal subject of Russia (a republic). It is the homeland of the Chuvash people, a Turkic ethnic group. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 1,251,619. The Chuvash Republic is a small, but a uniquely beautiful place along the Volga River squeezed between the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Tatar Republic.
2. Chuvashia has a rich history. In the 13th century it became a vassal of the Golden Horde and then part of the Kazan Khanate in the 15th century. The Chuvash princes though swore loyalty to Ivan the Terrible in 1552 and supported him in his campaign against the khanate.
3. Its capital is the city of Cheboksary. The first thing one notices when in Cheboksary is just how green the city is. Thanks to numerous parks, a beautiful harbor on the Volga River and the fresh air Cheboksary is also known as the Pearl of the Volga. The first place they took us to was the monument of Mother Patroness of Chuvashia, one of the main landmarks of Cheboksary. The 46-meter tall monument built in 2003 symbolizes the revival of the Chuvash people’s spiritual values.
4. The Chuvash Republic has two official languages, Chuvash and Russian. All road signs, government offices and public buildings have writings in the two official languages, in accordance with the republic’s constitution. According to the 2010 Census, ethnic Chuvash make up 67.7% of the republic's population. Other groups include Russians (26.9%), Tatars (2.8%), Mordvins (1.1%), and a host of smaller groups.
5. Chuvash is the native language of the Chuvash people. Although the language belongs to the Turkic family, speakers of other Turkic languages cannot understand Chuvash. Some claim Chuvash was derived from Bulgar and Khazar, the two extinct languages spoken by ancient nomadic tribes that lived in the Volga region. As for the Chuvash people themselves, there are two main theories about their origin. The first theory claims that the Chuvash people originated as a result of amalgamation between ancients Turkic tribes of Volga Bulgaria who lived on the territory of the modern Chuvash Republic. According to the second theory, the Chuvash people lived in the Volga region long before the migration of Volga Bulgar populations. It’s hard to tell which theory is right, but one thing is certain – the Chuvash have managed to keep their fascinating culture and language alive, despite always living near much more powerful neighbors.
6. For centuries, beer played a key role in the Chuvash culture. But the Chuvash call “beer” in their language a biologically active beverage full of nutrients, not the alcoholic beverage with preservatives that one finds at stores today. The main difference between the traditional Chuvash beer and beer that one buys today at store-shelves is that due to active ingredients the former can only be consumed within 24 hours.
7. During the 19th and early 20th century, national feelings started to grow among the Chuvash intelligentsia. They connected with other minority pro-independence movements in the middle Volga area. Marxist ideology gained popularity among the poorest peasants and industrial workers. On May 15, 1917, the Chuvash joined the Idel-Ural Movement and in December 1917 joined the short-lived Idel-Ural State.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aizawl is the capital of the state of Mizoram in India. With a resident population 228,280 (26% of the population of Mizoram), it is the largest city within the state. It is also the center of all important government offices, state assembly house and civil secretariat. The population of Aizawl strongly reflects the different communities of the ethnic Mizo people.
History
In 1890, Officer Dally of the Assam Police and his 400 men arrived at the site that is now Aizawl, to support Colonel Skinner's troops during a British military operation against the tribals. On Dally's recommendation, Aizawl was selected as the site of a fortified post that Colonel Skinner had been ordered to construct. The troops constructed stockades and buildings at the site.
Aizawl was the site of a tribal uprising in 1890, and was besieged from 9 to 28 September. Robert McCabe, Deputy Commissioner of the Lakhimpur district, restored order in the area and forced 15 tribal chiefs to surrender. After this, more troops were stationed at Aizawl. Another uprising in 1892 was also quelled by McCabe.
The city later became the headquarters of the 1st Assam Rifles (AR). During the March 1966 Mizo National Front uprising, the Mizo National Front (MNF) members took control of the city and the AR headquarters at the center of the city was besieged. The Indian Air Force carried out air strikes on the town, following which the MNF withdrew to Lunglei.
Geography
Aizawl is located north of the Tropic of Cancer in the northern part of Mizoram. It is situated on a ridge 1,132 metres (3715 ft) above sea level, with the Tlawng river valley to its west and the Tuirial river valley to its east.

Russia: Putin proposes federal program to raise sports involvement to 40% by 2020
Video ID: 20141009-029
W/S Putin entering the meeting
SOT Vladimir Putin, Russian President (in Russian): Let me remind you that the number of Russians who regularly exercise and do sports is to rise significantly to at least 40% by 2020, compared to only 27.5% by now. And while this figure has grown remarkably, there is still room for improvement
W/S Meeting
SOT Vladimir Putin, Russian President (in Russian): Earlier this year, the government approved the federal target program in sports development and its funding. For your information, we are planning to allocate 73.9 billion roubles from the federal budget in inflation-adjusted value
M/S Meeting
SOT Vladimir Putin, Russian President (in Russian): Before implementing the new program, we have to meet all the unfulfilled objectives and understand why that happened. For example, there's the issue of deadlines regarding the commissioned sports venues
M/S Meeting
SOT Vladimir Putin, Russian President (in Russian): We also need to complete the national register of sports venues and facilities. Another important point is developing facilities in educational institutions, and making it possible to use the schools' infrastructure
M/S Meeting
SOT Vladimir Putin, Russian President (in Russian): As for the number and availability of sports facilities in the country, we have to fulfil our goals in Crimea and Sevastopol as well. Clearly, there's a lot of work to be done there, but we shouldn't neglect other regions
W/S Meeting
SCRIPT
Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a new federal program to increase involvement in sport over the next five years at the fifth Russia - Country of Sports International Forum in Cheboksary on Thursday.
Putin said that it would involve the construction of low-budget community-based sports facilities in Russia's regions to provide as large as possible a catchment area.
The program hopes to increase the number of Russians regularly engaged in physical sporting activities to 40 per cent by 2020, the current figure stands at 27.5 per cent. Putin said that it is necessary to think about a system of compulsory sports competitions in particular to find a place in the system for competitions like the All-Russian Olympics.

A Threat to Education
Bihar is a state caught between floods, crime and a flailing economy. The development indicators here are one of the worst of the country.
Community Correspondent Reena reports from here on the affect all of these have had on 400 students in one school.
On a winter morning in January Reena was out on a field visit when she passed by an area where she saw a number of children playing around, some were sitting under thatched roofs and were being taught. On asking around, she found out that this was the primary school for Harijan Tola village in the Poorbi Bari Nagar Village Council. The classes here run from the first to fourth grade.
I've seen quite a lot in the few years that I've been working on various issues in and around my village. But this... this just floored me. It was bitterly cold the morning I visited, how were the kids learning anything? she says.
Reena went back the next day with her flipcam to record evidence of the school's condition.
I wondered at first if I should do something. Would I be able to get these students a school-building? Would anyone listen? I decided finally that yes, I should do anything and everything I could, to make sure that someone took note of this situation. I had the power to do this. I knew because in the past I had managed to get several anganwadis (child-care centres) running smoothly by making a video on just one that had provided terrible facilities to women and children.
She started interviewing, and getting footage. Everyone, from the students to the woman who cooked mid-day meals, was exhausted with the fact that everything in this school was make-shift and that they just scraped by. As Reena dug further, the situation became increasingly murky.
During an interview with the principal, Arjun Prasad Singh, she found out what exactly it was that stood between the children and a proper school. The funds distributed by the government, were already in the school's bank account. They had been there for a year. After making some initial remarks about his pending retirement, the principal finally told the truth-- he was being pressurised by the local strongman.
To make sure that he got the contract and money to build the school, this man had issued a series of threats to the principal. The latest, at the time of filming, had been the declaration that if the principal didn't part with the money soon, there would be a rape case against him. The local bully would make sure that the principal would pay the price if he was denied his rightful profit.
Don't be too alarmed. There was a time when bus drivers in Bihar drove with a gun tucked in their seats, just in case you know... We hear things are better these days.
Reena immediately took everything she had filmed to the Block Office and asked to see the officer. Reena shares this part of the story sounding extremely pleased with herself:
On introducing myself and showing the footage to the Block Officer, the woman was speechless. She really wanted to know how and why I knew about this entire mess when it wasn't even my village.
I explained how the camera allowed me to work anywhere I wanted, that if there was a video I could make to improve the life of my community, I would. I then asked her about how she had no idea about funds being released to the school or the current situation there. It didn't take much effort. She agreed to go and investigate and promised me that she'd get things fixed.
The Block Officer kept her word. Reena received a phone call a few days ago to say that the building was being built, they had just finished laying the plinth!
I've been working on these issues for 3 years. I never knew so much, but now I know about things like job cards, workers rights and pensions, and I know how to get my rights. Sometimes, it takes a lot of patience and sweet talking. At other times, I now have my flipcam, it is so useful!
The construction is on in full swing and if all goes well, 400 kids will have a school building soon. You can help by calling the Block Officer on 09162815702 and thanking her. Also give her a gentle reminder to make sure the school is constructed.
